About

LVG Hotel Collection - Il Portico is located on the shores of Lake Maggiore, next to the Santissima Pietà Sanctuary in Cannobio. The property is composed of a modern building and a villa from the 18th century. Most of the rooms are in the main building, and many have a beautiful lake view. The charming rooms in the villa are furnished with particular care, and overlook the private garden. The large restaurant has a panoramic terrace on the lakeside promenade. The cuisine is traditional, with homemade specialties. Il Portico offers private parking with a cost of € 10 per day and is located opposite the ferry departure point for the Swiss side of the lake and the Borromean Gulf. The center of town and public beach are a 5-minute walk away.

    Pros +

    • Excellent lakeside location. Traffic free waterfront. Stunning lakeside. Elegant dining room and lounge. Simple room. The only traffic on the waterfront are service and delivery vehicles first thing in the morning. Otherwise, it's you and the ferries and the people walking by. Steps away from the ferry base. Very friendly welcome in Reception. Extremely helpful. For three stars, this is great value.
    • I had nice views of the mountains, a small piazza, and part of the church. Great location and excellent breakfast with so many choices. The staff were friendly and I appreciated the luggage storage that I used both before check-in and after check-out. Also easy few minutes walk from the bus stop.
    • Fantastic hotel directly on the main town boardwalk. It is run like a 4 star and the staff is incredibly helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely. Perfect and comfortable in every way. The only downside was that the wifi did not work in the part of the hotel my room was located in so that was difficult since I was here for work. Aside from that, this hotel is the best choice in Cannobio !

    Cons -

    • What didn't I like? I felt a little deceived by the pictures shown on booking.com. The double arches shown in picture 1 must be of the villa and private garden? There are lots and lots of pictures of this garden, but we weren't directed to it, or invited to visit it. Odd.If you're looking for the entrance to the hotel, check out picture 74. Take the steps from the waterfront beside the church, and find the hotel entrance tucked away. The hotel is a beautiful space, but make sure to ask for the gardens when you visit!
    • Some noise earlier in the evening from the streets below but not bad. No air conditioning but a fan was provided and it was relatively comfortable as the heat was moderate.
    • Familyroom with 4 beds had a bunk bed which was pretty small for our kids. Could have mentioned upfront that it was a bunk bed

Excellent location with direct access to piazza. Breakfast on the piazza was excellent!

Excellent atmosphere and hospitality. Nice that we could partially oversee Lago Maggiore. Good breakfast outside directly overlooking the lake.

Great location, cleab room and polite staff. Breakfast was great!

    Clean and new bedroom

Bathroom! It was terrible from 90s, with rust and curtain with soape and mold on it((. It was impossible to sleep: it was noisy from the street and very hot and stuffy . And the breakfast was bad, they served yesterday bread, I ‘ve never seen this before . And weathered omelet .

Perfect location in the heart of cannobio. Own parking and nice breakfast.

    Location, private parking

No Air Con! Terrible nights sleep- day temp 32, room was so hot!

    Location

The beds were awfully uncomfortable and the pillows hard and very uncomfortable. Also, there should have been a ventilator but there wasn’t.

    5IvonnePosted on: 7-11-2024

    Perfectly located for the market.

You absolutely heard everything from all the other rooms. You could even follow their conversation next door. Not even the housekeeping tried to be just a little silent - Started to clean the room in full sound combined with her annoying walkie-talkie early in the morning.

    Super central

Very loud and fairly old and run down

    8LittlebigdragonPosted on: 5-19-2024

Very good breakfast, very nice view from room 160.

We booked for 2 adults and 2 children, but there was only one extra bed for one child, the other was expected to sleep in the parents bed. Also no linen/ bedsheets were provided for the second child.

    7MarizabethPosted on: 5-8-2024

You hear the noises from the Lobby.

    9BlainePosted on: 10-17-2023

Great location, parking is good but can be hard to find a space at night.

Only complaint really is that it was a bit of a maze getting from the hotel lobby to our room

    8LenaPosted on: 10-5-2023

Perfect location to discover the Lago Maggiore plus CannobioBreakfast with lake view

    9NicolePosted on: 9-4-2023

Near lake front, breakfast good, directly at lake front.

    6GokhanPosted on: 8-24-2023

Location of the hotel was great. The room was spacious. Even the windows were small, we still had the nice lake view.

There was no air condition in the room and it was really hot and humid even through the night.
