- The rooms were very large. Amazing beds. The pool was amazing.
- Very good spa. The restaurant Mapa is excellent. The breakfasts are good. Beautiful grounds, a great place to relax and unwind. The villas have everything you need to avoid using the hotel's facilities and outdoor pool. The master bedroom has a large window in the ceiling for stargazing. Guests are always greeted with a bottle of wine, fruit, and small treats upon arrival. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Everything there was amazing! The staffs, the restaurants, the property. I really enjoyed spend time there.
Cons -
- The fireplace in the villa is beautiful, but it has poor draft. At 11 PM, we had to air out the entire villa because the entire room was filled with smoke. There are no smoke detectors in the villa itself, so you can't know how high the smoke concentration is until you see it with your own eyes. The hotel has a huge, beautiful grounds, the villas are well suited for families, but the playground is very poor and completely uninteresting.
- Very minor improvement could be made to the room lighting design to further enhance the cosy feeling in evening (bathroom lighting is too dark for my taste and living room could use an intermediate state between low light and full lights). It is purely matter of taste.
- We did, however, encounter two issues that significantly affected our stay. We informed the front desk that the sliding door leading outside would not lock. We were initially told it was safe since we were “soon to check out.” When we clarified that we would be staying an additional night, we were told it would be fixed, but no one ever came. This left us feeling unsafe and impacted our ability to rest.We also reported a mouse inside the room that had eaten a chocolate bar near our luggage. We fully understand that a vineyard is surrounded by nature, but there was no meaningful acknowledgment nor any gesture to address the inconvenience. This response came from the front desk and does not reflect the rest of the staff, who were excellent.

L’AND is a wonderful place to rest and relax. The facilities are excellent, including the restaurants and spa. We’ve stayed here several times over the years both on our own as well as with friends and family.
Architecture , facilities, restaurant
Beautiful location in the vineyards of Alentejo. Manicured property with a lake, outdoor / indoor pool and outstanding architecture and interior design. Excellent restaurant.

This was honestly the best day and stay we’ve had so far in Portugal. We were warmly welcomed and even received an upgrade at check-in, plus a complimentary bottle of their wine, which was a beautiful touch. What really stood out was the attention to detail everywhere — in the room and throughout the common areas. In the evening, they lit a fireplace right outside our door, making it possible to sit outdoors while staying warm, with plenty of firewood to keep it going late into the night.Even though we stayed only one night, we managed to enjoy the heated pool, the sauna, and a truly excellent breakfast — including custom orders, plus vegan and gluten-free options, which we really appreciated. We were traveling with our baby, and they went the extra mile: they provided a crib in the room and even welcomed us with a generous fruit platter, which was perfect after a long day.The highlight for us was the rooftop and skylight setup — being able to see the night sky from bed was unforgettable, and the whole space has a really beautiful flow between indoor and outdoor areas.A perfect place to celebrate something special — we’ll definitely be back.
The villa with the sky view was exceptional, and both the food and the staff were outstanding.

The design of this hotel was gorgeous. The room was enormous and so spacious. The grounds were well kept. We loved the concept of an eco hotel. The breakfast was delicious and the view was amazing. The walk through the property was a lovely hike. The staff was happy to help. Our MAPA dinner was excellent.
It was a little too eco and sacrificed some comfort. The lighting was bad. We had to walk in the complete dark at the entrance to our room and once inside it was quite dim. The water never got that hot in the shower and we had to take luke warm showers in the cold weather. The electric panel in the closet was beeping and buzzing all night long. Our dinner downstairs the second night was ok but we had to wait over an hour to get our check.
Staff is incompetent and untrained:A) Receptionist forced us to trek around the hotel in a torrential downpour.B) Wine shop staff completely forgot our booked tasting.C) Indian waiter at the restaurant had no clue what Sidra is.D) Another waiter botched our order, then tried to charge a tip anyway.
The villas are amazing. The decor and design are fantastic. We did the wine tasting - which was a really fun thing to do.
To some extent design has trumped practicality. With a few minor tweaks - like hooks in the bathroom to hang towels etc this place could be amazing.
Very nice landscape and surroundings.
Rooms are a little dated and could use a refreshment. Washrooms are missing some light.I have seen higher standing Relais Chateaux, but the price here is not expensive, so it is fair value.
Mapa restaurant was a great experience
Cleanliness of the room. Stains on carpet, only bed done, nothing rearrange in the room.
The Hotel is very beautiful with really nice design touches throughout. Staff is friendly and professional and made us feel welcomed. All the food we had on the property was great but a special shout out needs to go to MAPA whose tasting menu delivered us one of our top 3 meals of all time. Seriously every single dish was a banger.
With this in mind we were very disappointed with the spa. When everything else is so great - the spa seems like it’s part of a different hotel in terms of quality and care. Whilst aesthetically designed quite well it practically doesn’t work as it needs to. Broken door locks, shower knobs missing handles, broken floors are minor compared to the fact that the Sauna could only reach 65C in the 2 days we were there and the steam room barely has any steam. The hotel said it was because people keep adjusting the temp from the remote from the outside which is possible but I find unlikely. Such a shame as this could be a really great place.
A spectacular property with incredibly attentive staff. The room and the grounds were amazing. A remarkable experience for our 37th anniversary!
Very nice food and quiet. Nice landscape.
The team was very friendly, however, you could tell that the property was understaffed. Not availability for the spa in 5 days of my staying (which is crazy as the vibe is oriented to connect with nature and yourself). The villa didn’t have a lot of of details that you expect in a 5 star luxury hotel. Needs better service, more plants, more activities, some kayaks and a little cute tiny shop.
+The reception team was nice and welcoming. Especially, Alexandre Ferreira was very kind and helpful during check out. Once again thank you! + Housekeeping was also nice and doing great. + The breakfast which is served in the main restaurant was nicely prepared with fresh & quality ingredients. That we liked a lot. + Dining at the deck during sunset was like a dream. + The nature was full of serenity. + The rooms itself was simple and nicely decorated. + The privacy was well thought/ designed.+ We loved the firepit in the middle of our terrace. + Since it was our anniversary there were complimentary welcoming gifts im the room. It was very nice be thought. So kind of you.
- We stayed two nights and the main restaurant was closed during that days. The cafe was open, the food was nice but we were a little bit dissappointed regarding that. Opening days needs to be checked before reservation. - Bin baskets (which were both in toilet area) were not enough in the room. There is one needed in the living room which you have coffee/tea machine and some fruits on the table. It was not nice every time going to the toilet to use the bin. - During turndown service, bin baskets can also be refreshed. When I asked for that to the ladies they answered as they do not have the plastic bag. They were right but was not feeling good when our bin was full. - First night we received the lit service for our fire pit but second night we could not make it. We demanded service and waited more than one hour at our room's terrace somebody to came and lit the fire but nobody has arrived. We kept asking if he is coming or not and they said the service is busy but he will come asap. Then, they did not inform us regarding the unavailability of the service and we could not use the firepit. In these kind of cases, it is better to communicate and tell the situation as it is and create real expectations.
Our stay at this world-class wine estate in Portugal was unforgettable. The beautifully decorated, spacious rooms, complete with a skylight for stargazing, were a highlight. The stunning lake views, lush gardens, and outstanding facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools, created a serene escape. Evenings by the fire with cocktails and the soothing sounds of frogs and birds made for a perfect countryside retreat. A delicious breakfast started each day, and we were delighted by a surprise room upgrade. The staff's exceptional hospitality and attention to detail exceeded our expectations. As a parting gift, we received a bottle of their wine and honey, a thoughtful touch that summed up their warmth. This estate is a must-visit for anyone seeking luxury, tranquility, and memorable experiences in Portugal.
Everything was perfect and exceeded our expectations.
Amazing !!! Amazing stay in a nice upgraded villa in a private pool, very cool breakfast and the territory is great! We are so excited to come again!
Nature, professional stuff, cleanliness
Only a Michelin restaurant option for dinner, which hardly suits younger kids. There’s a cafe on site, but it has only low coffee tables. And you are not allowed to order dishes from cafe to a restaurant, although they share a kitchen.
