    Pros +

    • Very great location and they have parking three blocks away. The restaurant is worth patronizing as well. Nice staff. It is a very charming hotel with all the modern conveniences; they did a great job remodeling it.
    • Room was wonderful
    • Gorgeous building, perfect location close to everything, clean and comfortable room, great breakfast, free parking!

    Cons -

    • Hotel reception and restaurant closes on Monday. Had to wait until Tuesday to checkout.
    • Nothing really, we just didn't enjoy Bacharach as much as we'd hoped so we won't be back. But if you want to visit Bacharach this is the place to stay.
    • Staff a bit unprofessional. Arguing as we arrived. Would have liked an offer to help with bags.

Location and the fact that the hotel was so photogenic. Very clean and the food was wonderful. The town of Bacharach is the most attractive on that stretch of the Rhine. Local restaurants were terrific. 5 min walk to the cruise boat to Boppart.

Staff a bit unprofessional. Arguing as we arrived. Would have liked an offer to help with bags.

staff was exceptional and went above and beyond to take care of us. We came in late and even though the kitchen was closing, the chef and staff stayed to make us dinner. We really appreciate their kindness!

Breakfast was wonderful in the dining room. We also enjoyed our balcony in our room, which faced onto the main street. The beds were very comfortable, and the room size was also comfortable, especially for a European hotel.

I do wish they provided hair conditioner.

Loved the location, short walk from train. Wonderful staff. Rooms nice.

Delicious breakfast and dinner! The room was modern, quiet and very comfortable for great sleeping. The staff was helpful and welcoming.

Excellent stay! The check-in was efficient. We had 3 rooms for our family of 6, including grandparents. The hotel has an elevator which was appreciated for our elderly parents. We were very satisfied with the rooms, as they were exactly as pictured on booking! The flower boxes outside all had fresh flowers in bloom, a nice surprise for October. The breakfast room is wonderful, like stepping back in time, but of course with modern comforts. It is not possible to be more central in historical Bacharach.I can speak German, but my family does not, and the staff accommodated with good English skills. I personally had my best rest of our vacation so far here. The bedding was comfortable and we appreciated the climate control at night. Other guests we talked to were also very satisfied with the hotel. Congratulations to the whole team at the hotel for a good experience!

Great location. Right in the middle of Bacharach! Room was very comfortable with a deck overlooking the street with beautiful buildings. I highly recommend and can't wait to come back!

Very nice room with breaksfast nook offering wonderful view of town's scenic main street. Big, comfy bed. Excellent breakfast and dinner in hotel restaurant. Location in heart of scenic town, easy walk from train station, and only a 5-minute walk to either of the two Rhine River boat excursion docks.

Wasn't clear to me on arrival that hotel guests will usually use the side entrance (just a litte bit around the corner from front entrance when the restaurant is not open). But there is a small sign saying that.

Lovely room with a balcony; fabulous breakfast.

Difficulty getting to the right location due to numerous properties with the same name; parking a little too distant

Very clean.Beautiful building.Tasty breakfast in a beautiful room.

The room was fantastic, breakfast was great, the location was perfect. It was the best hotel of a 3 hotel trip.

I requested extra pillows I never received.

We stayed in the 1 bedroom which is down the street from the hotel. Very modern and clean. Spacious. Third floor no elevator.

Front desk staff. We went to front door when we arrived. It was locked. Found side door. Entered. No welcome from staff. Desk clerk lectured us that if we wanted the 2 bedroom we should have called. Not mentioned on site.

Location, great parking, lovely balcony, older quant building, friendly staff.

Felt like an apartment rental rather than a hotel.

    10RonaldPosted on: 8-1-2025

The hotel is family owned with a history going back five generations. The location is excellent in the middle of town. The hotel is quaint and well maintained. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Altkolnischer Hof. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed our balcony overlooking the main street. Breakfast was delicious, and we also had dinner at the hotel one evening, and it was very good. Would stay again!

We stayed in one of the apartments managed by the hotel that is located in Koblenzer Str. 3, though the breakfast was offered in the main building of the hotel. The apartment was much bigger than we expected and looked nicer than on the pictures. It was very well furnished though the taste could be very subjective, but it was very comfortable, functional and very clean. It had all the amenities, full kitchen with drip coffee machine and everything you may need if decide to cook. The mini-market in front was also very convenient. In the corridor you can find fresh towels, toiler paper and tissues and everything else. The check-in instruction was very clear and easy. The parking for the car was just in front of the building and under our windows. The breakfast was rich and had everything including variety of vegan options that we greatly appreciate! The staff was available and courteous - helped us with all questions and advice what to do and what to visit. The beds were comfortable. Definitely will recommend and come back!

Not a big deal, but a bottle of water in the apartment would be nice. The noise is an issue - but it is not the hotel's fault, we just did not expect the town to have the traffic at nights and some wine shops open early in the morning, but it was not a huge deal for us.
