Pros +
- Everything was nice, communication with the staff was fine, no unpleasant surprises. Remember to prepare coins if you want parking, the parking lot near the property only takes coins
- The price was good. The facility was decent.
- Comfortable bed, quite location
Cons -
- The beds were more on the soft size, the pillows as well, and too large and chaotic.
- I was on a bicycle tour on the Rhine bike path. The hotel is 1.6+ kilometers from the Rhine River, UP HILL! Google map stated that it was “mostly flat” - it was flat wrong. I’m 79 years of age and after riding over 50 kms to get to Bacharach, the last 1.6+ kms was a real killer! To make matters worse, there’s absolutely nothing, nada, around the hotel to buy beverages or food. Because it was raining (late September) and dark, and the cobblestone street was slippery, I had to walk all the way into town to find a restaurant. There was no one at the hotel to ask for information about anything. It was strictly self checking in. Also, there’s no fridge, microwave or hot water kettle to make tea. Breakfast was only served on Saturday and Sunday (I was there on a Tuesday.) So guests really have to fend for themselves. Had I known about the lack of service and the distance to restaurants, I would have chosen a different accommodation.

Not too far from main city. Nice and clean hotel. The person in charge was clear in her instructions even with the language barrier
Breakfast options were limited and wasn’t refilled once selections were over. Check-in can be a bit tricky but not a problem.
Bacharach is a small town. As such, when we were there in early March, the town was very quiet. The hotel is located about 1 mile outside of the town center. While it is a nice location, it is at least a 25-minute walk into town. The hotel is nice and room was clean. Since it was during the low season, we did a self check in so we didn't come into contact with any of the staff member except for a brief duration during breakfast. Breakfast was decent for 12,50€. Not hot items, but plenty of cold cuts and cheeses and hard boiled eggs.
The hotel is about a mile from the town center which may or may not be an issue. The walk is quite scenic so we didn't mind it, but it could be quite a hassle if you want to go back and forth multiple times during the day to the town center.
Good rooms, recently updated
It seems like we were the only people there, so the heating was set in low. No matter what we did to try and adjust it, we were cold all night.
Everything was great! We even asked for late check out and it was agreed without extra charge! It is also very easy to park in front of the hotel for 4 euro per day! Self check in was also very convieneient!
Lovely location & comfy bedCheck in was very easy - given a PIN via email to unlock a box & get the key
No hot water, dirty floors, smoke alarm missing from the room, can hear everything in the hallway, including an intermittent beeping like a smoke alarm needing a battery change
Location was lovely - tucked away in a quiet spot up the valley. We wished the weather had been nicer so we could have spent more time on the room's balcony!
Our room was at the end of the hall, and perhaps because of this, water pressure was pretty low. The hot water was also more towards warm than hot.
Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and located next to each other per our request. After hours arrival was really easy and we were able to gain access to our rooms quickly and with no issue. Our rooms were large and fit our family perfectly.
Our bed was really squishy... sounds kind of funny, but I was shocked at how far we sunk in when we laid down. The mattress in the other room we had was in much better shape and more comfortable.
Rolladen for both the window and the balcony door. Instructions to find parking and keys were very good. Loved being based in Bacharach. Loved having the balcony space that opened onto the trees, not the street.
TV didn't work but we were gone most of the time. Drove to parking along the river instead of walking as one in our group is a slow walker so too far for us to walk.
+ easy web based self check-in (passport/ID needs to be sent over email or whatsapp in advance); + spacious and well designed room; + reasonably priced parking just across the street; + lovely walk through the wineyards to the viewing point above the town and then by quite steep stairs down there to visit the "Kleines brauhaus" and explore the old town
nothing that we didn't like or missed, few nice-to-haves: insect nets on windows leading behind the building where a small stream runs and maybe a small fridge to keep the drinks cool
We had two very spacious rooms, one even "luxurious suite" with remarkable layout/interior, with large double beds and an additional separate bed (family of 5, 2 aldults , 3 teens). Price was ok for just one nightFlexible and clear check-in facilities, even on difficult/late hours.Very remarkable, nice city (not expected!)
Luxurious badroom in suite but no hot water in the shower....makes it not very "comfortable"bad curtains combined with street lightpost : much light in the room (sleeps less comfortabel)Breakfast could only be served in weekends, at late starting hour (8:30) which is not suitable for a quick overnight stay
It was clean.
We arrived around 6pm and left at 9am. The entire time we saw NO STAFF, it was a bit freaky. There was a code to get in, a coffee machine that didn't work, and just empty corridors. The room was a bit cold and we never managed to make the heating work. The water in the WC was brown, but really brown. If we ever go back to Bacharach, we will try the youth hostel in the castle.
Great location to visit the town and go for walks along Rhine
Would have been nice to have breakfast, I didn't find the vending machine
Comfortable room, very clean, very quiet.
Check-in is complicated and not user-friendly: you get a code sent to your email (NOT Booking message box) which opens a safe-box with your room key in it. For assistance there are phone numbers which took many attempts until answered. When I arrived late evening there were 3 other people outside, dumbfounded by the instructions and unable to get into their rooms. The hotel is also far from places of interest - not a walking distance to food etc.
Room was very comfortable.
Hotel was too far off from the main location. Area didn't have any public transport, or at least it wasn't operational. It was difficult to walk with luggage for 30 minutes. City mostly doesn't have GPS signals
Fascinating old building, it would be interesting to know more about it. Secure garden parking for bikes overnight. Very quiet.
Self checkin. Works well but very impersonal. Never saw anyone until morning.
The experience was amazing. Even when I arrived after midnight (due to losing shortly a train connection at Bingen, my own fault), the code that had been given to me by the staff and the video instructions for the check in allowed me to enter without hassle. After a relaxing bath and an amazing night of sleep, I enjoyed a lot the beautiful back yard, enjoyed a delicious and abundant breakfast and attention by all the staff. Really look forward to go back sometime, maybe to complete the whole train along the World Heritage Site.
Cannot tell about anything that I did not like. Everything from the staff to the location was stellar, the bed allowed me for an amazing, serene night of sleep after a day walking around Cologne and a really eventful night visiting Bingen. The location of the hotel, at Steeg, allows for a really nice stroll to the center of Bacharach, with great Weingüter in the neighborhood. After visiting the hotel, its location was very practical for me to hike to Burg Stahleck, Wernerkapelle, downtown Bacharach and then take the trail to Oberwesel. Loved everything about the area and the hotel.
Good value, comfortable hotel.
