Got a mosquito the whole night that killed me

Fine location with easy access to transportation into Basel. Ample parking and a nice lounge area by the reception.

Although there is a good amount of art on the walls and design lighting to lend the space a feel of sophistication, the interior common area felt a bit run down (lots of stains on the carpeted floor in the hallway), and the furnishings felt rather cheap for what you pay. We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant due to budgetary constraints.

The room was very comfortable, spacious, clean and a good bathroom. We enjoyed the easy check in and check out procedure, the big windows and balcony and the possibility to prepare a coffe or tea in the room. The central location was great for a little shopping in the evening as well.

I guess it’s an okay price and an okay location for free parking if you rent a car….but otherwise I don’t think I’ll need to come back.

I incorrectly assumed this was a nice hotel given that their chef is famous, but I was sorely disappointed in the facilities.First, the room was kind of dirty, I saw a lot of dust on the floor and it was badly scuffed up. Curtains had black out and sheer ones, which did each job, but there were weird stains on the sheer ones. Sheets are acceptable and mattress just ok, but the pillows are horribly flat and unnecessarily huge and square; had to fold it and roll it to actually do the job. Desk is at an awkward angle so your chair is pressed up against the foot of the bed, and a huge side area near the window where there’s nothing but a single camping kind of chair. Lighting in the room was also very dim.Restroom has no fan, so good luck. Shower amenities were all Loccitaine, which was fine until I was looking for lotion and I found it in the soap bottle with sharpie saying that it was lotion, not body wash LOL….which was interesting. Hair dryer and towels were fine.Safe was low battery. One teeny fridge that’s stocked with their sold stuff and very little space for your own, and a kettle is as much as you get. Some cups, tea spoons, and instant coffee mix or tea bags is the extent.Wifi is horrible. Could not even handle a facetime call, much less working remotely. A few people were in the bottom floor because I assume that’s where it works best.Insulation was horrible, I could hear everyone talking and unlocking and slamming their doors in the mornings and evenings and felt self-conscious while trying to take meetings in PST at 10p-12am. Doors don’t open with key cards. You get a physical key that you have to use externally and internally to lock and unlock, and they have these weights attached that bang on each door, which I can hear other guests attempting to unlock their doors from the hallway, or the housekeeping dragging their vacuums and carts everywhere. it’s LOUD.Pool was way too cold to use but it was raining so not hotel’s fault.

They had free parking and it was in a quiet area.

Breakfast is 15€ which maybe a bit much. Compared to what I paid for the room, that’s why I didn’t eat there. It’s not about quality just price.

Everything was beaten and a little bit out of care. Picture of the room was misleading. Room was small and full of pseudodesign stuff. In the bath there was loose mirror also sliding window to the bathroom was loose so didn't work as intended.

The breakfast each morning was perfect, with a buffet offering fresh fruit, yogurts, breads, cheeses, sparkling wine, fruit juices, and a variety of teas and coffee. Freshly made eggs were also available to order. I loved that the lobby had a good coffee machine available to use anytime. The pool area was clean and functional, making it a great spot to relax.

The restaurant was closed on Sunday and Monday evenings, which I understand, but I would have liked the option to dine at the hotel on Monday night. Also, the pool furniture wasn’t very comfortable, which made lounging by the pool less relaxing than I had hoped.

I' ve missed a mirror in our room for styling my hair. The safe did not work.

My annual trip to Grenzach-Wyhlen and I wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else. Clean, convenient and great food and drink. Room was basic, but clean.

The only odd thing about the hotel is the doors don’t automatically lock. You unlock with a key when you enter the room and then have to use the key to lock the door behind you once you’re inside. I’d recommend the proprietor invest in a card system and automatically locking doors. Also, for the breakfast consider doing a big bowl of Bircher muesli instead of the tiny 1/10th of a normal portion jars. I’ve rated the hotel about as high as I can and wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else when I visit Grenzach-Wyhlen, but these are always items that frustrate me.

Very hot room. Pillow very thin. Airconditioning is switching off automatically after a few hours. Breakfast was decent but not very good.

It was very very cheap I got a room for 65 Euros and the bed was fine

It was quite dirty with the cup and spoon in the room not been washed the chair was super uncomfortable. With a dead mosquito above the bed when I arrived and a broken lamp in the shower.

One bed light is broken, bed is clean but floor have small trash left, and the breakfast bread seems like from last day left( not worse but not fit it’s star value)

We stayed here for our friends Wedding.Amazing Staff and they were so friendly and helpful. We were a large group and they just made our stay so relaxing : Thank you ?

I was a bit confused with booking rooms and I booked a Balcony room, Cosy double. It wasn’t as good as the signature double my friends had in the new building. Our room was a bit tied and bathroom small.BUT that’s just something to consider when you book :
