About
The Brukenthal Palace is a stately palace from 1788, formerly used as the summer residence of Transylvanian Baron Samuel von Brukenthal. It now offers accommodations with free Wi-Fi, just 164 feet from Avrig Train Station. Sibiu lies 17 mi to the west. Visitors can enjoy the estate's unique Baroque architecture and the large palace park. The rooms are located in different buildings within the palace. All rooms have their own private bathroom, providing comfort and privacy throughout the stay. Guests can dine at the on-site restaurant, where they can enjoy Saxon, Romanian or international dishes, or relax in the dining/lounge bar. Within the palace, guests can discover a unique historical area, where three museums are located: the Glass Museum, the Saxon Museum and the Medieval Museum. These offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy an authentic insight into local history and culture. Nearby attractions include the Court House and the Town Hall, both located further down the street. Parking is available free of charge.

Pros +
- Nice and helpful staff, good food, clean
- Too expensive for what they offer. We got 2 small rooms in the attic for 100 euro each (breakfast not included). The fancy pictures don't reflect the reality. To access the rooms you had to walk next to the back of the kitchen where the dirty dishes were disposed. The walls, the ceiling and the carpet in the hallway had stains. Felt that they take advantage of the fact that the place is a historical monument and to rip their clients off. And for the pool you have to cross the street. Don't expect clean water...P.s. the breakfast was tasty.
- I recently stayed at this beautifully decorated hotel and was truly impressed by almost everything. The French-style décor is meticulously done, the facilities are spotless, the breakfast is delightful with a French touch, and the outdoor seating areas offer a perfect setting to relax and enjoy the surroundings. It’s a place that clearly aims for excellence. However, I was very disappointed by one important detail: there was no complimentary drinking water or coffee in the room. Despite having a water boiler provided, I had to buy a bottle of water from the hotel restaurant for €5 — which felt excessive, especially given the lack of nearby supermarkets. This made me feel like it was a deliberate choice to generate extra revenue rather than offer basic hospitality. This policy is particularly frustrating because the hotel is otherwise so close to being a five-star experience. I was told the hotel is new (opened just a month ago), so I sincerely hope they reconsider this policy. Offering guests something as simple and essential as water in the room would make a big difference — and would align with the high standards they seem to be striving for in every other aspect.
Cons -
- Lack of complimentary water in the room
- The way to the attic rooms, narrow staircase, near the restaurant dirty dishes area. The room price is higher than usual for these kind of rooms.
- The place is a wedding venue so it would have been more peaceful without the loud music at dinner.

Lack of complimentary water in the room
The room, the park, the place as whole.

Lovely peaceful location. Loved the beach club and swimming pool. Great place for kids to run around.
The place is a wedding venue so it would have been more peaceful without the loud music at dinner.
Everything, services, location, good attitude, good vibe, cleanliness
Lovely gardens and rooms.
We adored the bathroom and would have loved to protect it with a curtain if deciding to shower instead of taking a bath.
A quiet location, surrounded by nature
When they host events it is too crowded and the guests from events mix over the area of hotel guests
Property & breakfast
The fact that people that were not guests also access pe garden/property in the evening.High prices in restaurant, poor meniu.
The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The restaurant is fancy and it has a very nice (and romantic) atmosphere. The food was good, the breakfast spectacular. I loved in particular the honeycomb. For us as a family it was convenient that the rooms are very close to the restaurant and to the playground.
It is a bit strange that the rooms are particularly basic and small for such a fancy location (and restaurant).
The location
The room thermatate was broken on 40 degrees celcius, you couldn't lower it. You couldn't open the windows because there was a big party. Big noise until midnight. If you like room sauna and big noise is the perfect place.
The view and the room was amazing. Everything clean and comfortable. I recommend for everybody.
High ceiling, gorgeous window with a view over the garden, a bathroom straight out of a design catalogue, comfortable bed: the conditions you'd think for a relaxing/romantic getaway, all of them real. To note that it's practically connected to a great restaurant, though that doesn't affect the peace and quiet.
A place that exceed your expectations. Room was great, location is full of history. Staff was more than helpful. The food menu is varied and tasteful.
The garden of the hotel as well as the building itself is a masterpiece. Lots of green land to discover. Close to Sibiu. Excellent food. Very nice stuff. We visited for one night because it has one of the oldest cafes in Europe. It is used as the restaurant of the hotel!. Lust but not least the staff was pretty kind and helpful. PS it also has lots of parking spots. Thanks a lot for everything!
Verry good price for the hotel combined wirh exvellent menu and service for the restaurant
Verry good price for hotel combined with excellent menu and service for the restaurant
I loved everything. Clean room, friendly staff, nice atmosphere and the gardens are lovely!
Everything was nice, the price was very good the location is very nice. It's great for 2, 3 days not more in the winter.
I didn't like the prices at the restaurant and selection was too poor. I also disliked the bed that was super soft, no back suport, felt like I was sinking. Not much to do in the winter.
Clean, very cozy location. Friendly staff, very good breakfast and perfect location with family with small kids. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely return.
The couch is not so confortable if somebody needs to sleep on it.
