    Pros +

    • Beautiful house
    • We have stayed here many, many times and love the ambience of this 15th century building. We also love the views over the countryside and the central courtyard or Riyadh. Also it used to be very quiet and relaxing.
    • We liked practically everything! Great that there was a restaurant which served breakfast, lunch and dinner with a pretty extensive menu as was well cooked as well. Loved that the hacienda was isolated from the town, and very, very quiet. Staff was kind and helpful - we enjoyed the visit a lot!

    Cons -

    • No hot water for early risers. The smaller breakfast that we ordered was supposed to include fresh fruits. There was none.
    • When we arrived we were not allocated the room I booked. It was tiny and only 2 sockets. Only 1 bedside table. I asked the receptionist why and he said there was no difference in the rooms. I know this to be NOT the case as we stayed everytime in rooms overlooking the pool and lake. Eventually after 2 nights we were moved to the room we booked. However on a number of occasions there was no hot water and the toilet seat did not fit the toilet and twice I nearly fell off which could have been serious as I have a dodgy hip.In addition one day when I was by the pool some man kept filming himself and the surroundings on his phone and another day a media team doing something else. The electrics need updating urgently as does the plumbing.
    • The breakfast was served, and was rather sparse and was picked clean quickly and then not too well refilled, which was a little bit sad for the price paid. Loads of flies in the garden, but really, that's kind of expected...

    nothing!

Everything was lovely; the staff, friendly and helpful; the owner, eager to make us comfortable and happy. Great rooms, comfy beds, extra blankets. And fabulous food!

    There is nothing to dislike!

For the moment Hacienda el Santiscal is peaceful and an oasis away from the creeping holiday development along the edge of the lake. The views from our room were lovely. It's a beautiful courtyard Hacienda retaining a personal family feel.Lovely sitting room for relaxation. Beautiful flowering plants and trees surrounding the property. We stayed immediately after the DANA so the weather was not brilliant. Pool too chilly for us but it looks lovely when warmer.Lovely breakfasts and very helpful friendly staff.

The bed was not comfy for my back . Very hard.We thought we'd booked a twin bedroom (the photos showed it to be this) with sitting room. There was no way to make the bed softer it seemed. This has been our experience throughout Spain though in independent smaller hotels.

Small family owned hacienda with beautiful rural views . Individually styled rooms - we shared a private staircase to two rooms with lovely seating area for four of us . Fridge with water very welcome ! Nice breakfast in conservatory style room overlooking small pool / all very lovely. No dinner provided as such - offer of cheese/ meats and wine to avoid travelling to Arcos for dinner - much appreciated . Central patio area with table and chairs nice for drinks / coffee

Great location for relaxation. Beautiful quiet place. The garden with the pool was magical. There is a beautiful view from the garden. Even though there were guests, no one disturbed anyone. The staff was very pleasant. We didn't mind that he doesn't speak English very well. Ideal for relaxation, a place where you can hide and relax in silence.

I had a wonderful room with terrace, it was quiet and relaxing and the sunset from the terrace was impressive - friendly service and a superb breakfast.

the pool area seems a bit to hot for me snd the pool itself a little bit too small.

Absolutely charming place with a beautiful view. Room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English. We loved it and will definitely come back :)

Nothing, all was perfect, although if you travel without a car it may be a bit tough to get there.

A beautiful hacienda situated on the outskirts of a town, with stunning views across the countryside.Very quiet and peaceful, surrounded by nature. All the staff were very kind and friendly. We were made to feel very welcome, and recieved plenty of helpful information about the places we could visit, and about the local area, including where we could birdwatch, which is our specific interest. There are also plenty of good restaurants and beautiful villages to visit. We thought the food we had at the hacienda was lovely, an excellent breakfast, and a lovely light supper. There is a lovely garden with a pool , with wonderful views of the countryside. We really enjoyed our stay, and were sad to leave.

It would of been nice to have a small fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities in our room.

    10RosemaryPosted on: 4-14-2023

it was in a lovely setting, peaceful and delightful. On arrival we were tired after a long day exploring the countryside and were able to have a cold dinner at the hacienda.

    no problems.

The hacienda has a lot of character, very nicely decorated and welcoming. Tranquil location with great view, delicious breakfast and friendly owners.

everyone and everything. the best coffee we had our entire stay in Spain.

I hit my head on the top of the bathroom door coming out as it has a step out into the bedroom. oh well, worse things have happened
