Beautiful location with great accommodations, a super confortable bed, and a delicious breakfast.

Very quiet and peaceful. Superb facilities in a converted convent, were all clean and the lovely. Aléda gave us a warm welcome and showed us the facilities. Grounds were lovely.

The hotel was really amazing. It is an old Convent and they still have some amazing pieces all around the hotel. Great location, breakfast buffet with fresh products, lovely bread and fruit salad. The host noticed that the scrambled eggs were empty and made us some fresh ones. The pool is fabulous, and I had a little swim before breakfast :-) We were completely relaxed after our stay. It was so serene... no stress...watching the stars with a G&T on the terrace...We will certainly be back when we are in the neighborhood.
Nothing, everything was perfect!
We loved the serenity of the place and the personnel running it. Silvia is a great host and we loved her for her excellent management and her greeting and hospitality. Dorothy is so kind and we appreciated her detail for breakfast. We enjoyed chatting with Lidia as well.
Everything is good. No complaints.
Friendliness of family owners. Relaxing atmosphere
No restaurant at premises
The setting looking out over the hills and the country, swimming pool, close to beautiful places to visit, large suite, and lounge and veranda were lovely to sit in. Aleida was delightful and very helpful .
We recently had the pleasure of staying for one night at the Convento da Provença with our little one, and we absolutely loved everything about our experience. The host was incredibly accommodating and flexible, which we appreciated immensely. The staff was friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist. The convent itself is surrounded by a stunning landscape, offering a clear, star-filled sky that we enjoyed at night. The breakfast was delightful, featuring a variety of choices that catered to all our tastes. Our accommodations were spacious and comfortable, making our brief stay feel like a luxurious retreat. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a unique and serene getaway. We will be back for a longer stay.
The hosts/owners and their daughters were very nice and welcoming. The bed and overall comfort were also pretty good. They have 3 donkeys and one of them is pregnant so expect a new little one in a few weeks if you visit.
Nothing really, I guess in the future they can add charging for electric/hybrid cars and maybe not charge for the crib since most places don't charge. That being said in the end they offered it anyway!
Incredible historical property providing a quintessential Alentejo experience. The property despite historical/old is very well kept, and you can see how much attention to detail has been put by the (very kind) property owners in every corner. The swimming pool is absolutely outstanding, merging perfectly into the Alentejo background, giving a sense of freedom and harmony.
Great location, charming house and nice hosts
Interior was not our style
This hotel was a great find, hidden in the Portuguese hills. A converted convent, it was as if you'd stepped back in time with the decor, yet the rooms and facilities had everything needed. Our room looked over the pool towards the hills and there was the opportunity to take a walk around the area.
Very nice location, friendly staff, rooms with character, swimming pool, nice old museum and ancient walls of a convent, good breakfast
the airconditioning in our room didn’t cool. And beware of mosquitos if you leave the windows open.
Fabulous location and the hotel building itself is staggering - like a living museum. Owners/staff were very friendly and helpful. A really special place.
The only improvement I can think of would be to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
We loved this fascinating historic building, which had features in abundance, and a mix of historic antiquities and modern comfortable accommodation. Our hostess, Sylvia was gracious, generous, and full of knowledge about the building and the area. She and her husband were eager to please us. We loved the breakfast too!!!We recommend this as an ideal place to stay, the longer the better. Come on Australians, and others, expand your horizons! And live it up in this magnificent place.
Nothing, nothing at all
Welcoming, friendly staff and owner. Comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities. The furnishings in the communal areas are beautifully tasteful and historically very interesting. Breakfast was also very tasty and healthy. A good restaurant is just down the way in the village.
Initially we were in a room with neighbours whose dog barked, but we were soon moved to another room.
We found in this quiet hotel a good rest on our way to Evora. Friendly welcome, clean and spacious room, very good breakfast and free parking, which is always an important plus. Some remains of the ancien convent in which it is set add a romantic feeling and give a "soul" to this highly recommendable rural guesthouse.
We had spent two weeks making our way around Southern Portugal and Spain, and needed one final night to rest and recharge before jumping on a flight home. Convento da Provença was the perfect place to do this!We arrived mid afternoon, and despite a little kerfuffle with the booking (Booking.com didn’t recognise the kids as “guests” so we unfortunately under booked), the owners went totally out of their way to make sure they found the ideal lodgings for us. Once checked into our enormous suite, and shown quickly around the facilities, the kids jumped straight in the pool for a refreshing dip. There is an olive tree on the grounds that is over 2000 years old, and the grounds and buildings are stacked with beautifully preserved history. Some of the weaponry is museum piece worthy! The owner family were the perfect hosts, and it felt more like having a short visit to see family than a stay at a property. To top it off, we had a delicious and nutritious fabulous breakfast, all hand selected local produce and the most delicious crunchy bread!
There was one mosquito. But we sorted him out (he he).
This is a newly acquired family operation, and they went out of their way to make us feel a part of their family. The place is lovely, and the only regret is we only spent two nights.
