Nicely located next to Mekong.Room was clean with good AC.

Disappointing
There were too many mosquitoes in the hotel room. Breakfast was not prepared on time, so we checked out without breakfast.
The hotel is well positioned and generally good value for money if you get a room with a balcony on the top floor. Breakfasts were good but we were not offered the Lao food option for breakfast (soup/porridge) that other tourists were served. The restaurant attached to the hotel and overlooking the Mekong is excellent both in terms of position (wonderful sunset views over Thailand) and the food being served. Despite this (and what is written under 'what didn't you like' the Bouton d'or is worth staying at and we would return.
We arrived in Thakek late and after a long bus journey from Vientiane; there was no one on reception and it took about 10 minutes to find someone to check us in. We also found that the room we had booked and paid for (top floor with balcony/view) had been given to another guest and our first night was in a ground floor at the back of the hotel with views of the backs of other buildings. We were moved the following day and after perseverance were offered 10% off the first night but the room should not have been given away in the first place. We had three nights here before doing the loop and then returned for one further night. We knew this time that we were to be in a standard room but found there were no tea/coffee facilities despite this being listed as available. When asking the staff, they told us that standard rooms do not come with a kettle etc. which is very poor for a hotel of this standard and price; we did finally get a kettle (taken from another room) but other guests we met in standard rooms did not and were not happy about this. The staff try their best but language is a barrier and the management need to address this to reduce/avoid frustrations. Communication with the hotel prior to arrival (e.g. by messages via Bookingcom) was very slow and full answers not provided.
It was clean and quite cheap. The man who did the breakfast was lovely and very efficient.
The photographs on Booking.com did not match the reality, it looked like a different hotel. The staff were not very helpful.
The hotel is at a very convenient location overseeing the lake. The staff is very lovely. The american breakfast was also good.
The place is nicely decorated, quiet rooms and kind staff.
They charge you any way they can! We booked the room for 38USD and wanted to pay in local currency, which is 22,000 per $1USD, but the hotel charged 25,000 Kip per $1USD. First time this scam has been pulled on us during our trip to Loas. We disputed the exchange rate and they dropped it to 23,000kip per $1 USD. Then we did laundry for 50,000 Kip per KG, but they over stated the weight on our laundry.....we have been washing same clothes for 3 months and always pay for 2 or 3 KG, but this hotel charged us for 4KG and didn't have a scale around so I could show them that they were over charging. Toilet leaked and floor drain was plugged until I opened it with the handle of a disposable toothbrush. A/C did work a bit, but on its last leg as it kept cutting out and was noisy.
Good clean rooms. Nice restaurant location on banks of Mekong.
Central location; twin room spacious enough for 2.Bar/restaurant offers excellent sunset view. Plenty of restaurants around the old French trading/administrative port.A lovely old town small enough to walk around and explore.Short river crossing to Thailand by ferry with visa extension service.BL Travel company highly recommended.
Staff generally has NO SMILE day/night shift from reception > chamber maids > restaurant staff...Hotel newly changed hands in 2022, owned by Chinese investment? Overall not well trained team, i.e. NO information provided for onward transportation, tours etc. (boss is away in China for his New Year holiday), no city maps and knowledge of local tourist information (where?)Breakfast is just below sufficient portion; bar/restaurant across the road opens at 5:30 pm but the staff doesn't seem too happy to serve.Frozon pizza reheated, evening lights attracted too many insects; services truly slow.
Beautiful architecture, great location / setting, clean room, comfortable bed, good restaurant, good wifi
Noise - there is a bar/night club next door and it was hard to sleep even with earplugs. Granted I stayed on a Friday nights, maybe other nights aren’t so loud
Great locationRestaurant has an outstanding view of sunset and Mekong riverTidy rooms
Nice room, good breakfast and nice staff.
Our stay at this hotel was really good it was a lovely location on the Mekong and had a very nice restaurant/bar across the road with great sunset views across the Mekong and a cute breakfast room next door with a nice garden. It was reasonably quiet. The bed was comfortable.
The rooms don't have electrical outlets so it's hard to charge devices. In the room we had, the bedside light (one only) did not work for the same reason. It would be ideal to add some more electrical outlets if possible.
Cute looking hotel. Staff very friendly. View was not great, but it was simply a place to stay for the night.
Continental breakfast was served to us as we sat. It was not quite continental in my opinion and very minimal.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Good location. The balcony was great.
A little pricey for Thakhek.
The room was decently sized and clean. Location is right along the river with a beautiful view and a restaurant right across the street. Temples and other restaurants are also within walking distance. Will return to this hotel when I come back to Thakhek.
Staff, room facing the river, comfy beds, nice shower, good breakfast. What else can you ask for?
The room to store our luggage during our bike loop was full of smoke so we decided to leave it at the bike rental place.I know they have no obligation to store our luggage, but if you do it, do it in a H&S compliant fashion.
Nice fassade of the building Good location
Poor & unfriendly service: refused to offer hot water in the early evening and no water boiler available in the 3* hotel room.Unfriendly staff in hotel restaurant at the riverside.Worn-out bed matrasses.
