The hotel is 3 minutes walk from one of the ferry so this is very convenient! Parliament is also very close by! Kitchen is spacious

The location is excellent right by the train/bus station, wharf and walkways. The reception was warm and helpful. I had a fine one-night stay in a 6-bed dorm ensuite. It is very nice to have the bathroom close by. It could be a bit tight on time if people had to leave at the same time because I didn't see any other bathrooms in the hallways.

The staff were exceptional. Efficient, helpful and kind.

The hotel is opposite Central Station and close to the Beehive building and Wellington Museum. Room was small but clean and had comfortable bed.

    The place has single glazing

    7TraciePosted on: 2-21-2026

It served its purpose for somewhere to sleep after a concert. Was close to the cbd.

The whole place reeked. No air conditioning. Tiny room. Very worn out.

Convenient location, bed was comfier than expected, room size was comfortable,

Dated interior, room had cracked windows, carpet aged, plumbing leaky, bedspread looked questionable. Left our adaptor in the wall but hotel claimed they never found it, had to buy another one.

Value for money in this central location - if we had paid more we would have expected more. It was clean, we had our own ensuite and it was surprisingly quiet given the location. The pub/restaurant downstairs looked great but we didn't get to try it out.

Everything could do with a lick of paint and a bit of updating. The TV was very small!! The reception area could be a bit more welcoming - currently feels a bit sparse and dated. More security at the front door could have also been good -ie need to swipe in or ring a buzzer after 9pm. Whilst it was great to have access to a nearby carpark for a good rate the carpark was quite tricky to navigate and the long term parking was up a number of floors.

It was in a convenient location and there are a few food choices around

The staff member at the reception spoke to us in a very condescending manner. The window in our bedroom was cracked...The pipe that held the shower head up had come unscrewed from the wall and was hanging.

Very good location for us , next to railway station. Clean and tidy accommodation.

    No problems

    5FilippoPosted on: 2-18-2026

    Perfect location, toilets were clean

Although the reception staff were always helpful, the older guy acted as if I was a source of annoyance for him

Always stay here usually once a year for the last few year do accessible to everything. You can't best Wellington on a good day

    8SusanPosted on: 2-18-2026

    Great location. Good price.

Rooms could do with some updating

    7FrancescoPosted on: 2-17-2026

    Low price and common area

The room was cold, no control on heating

    1PaulPosted on: 2-16-2026

    Not what it used to...

Changes in maintenance, staff training and common area facilities all very much apparent. What uses to be a rather pleasant experience has been diminished slice by slice, decision by decision.

    7JohnPosted on: 2-15-2026

Location perfect for train connection to Auckland

Great for a nights stay - good location to Wellington central

    10KylePosted on: 2-13-2026

The Price range, location, 24/7 staff, and the crowd in general. Oh, and how can I forget about the allowance of lockers to store my very large bag in while I was out and about organising other things?

    Very little really.

The Waterloo is a pleasant and well presented hotel in Wellington. A very comfortable room and facilities.
