    Pros +

    • Location
    • Hot pool was ok
    • We had a great time and enjoyed the thermal pools. The motel is close to Tongariro National Park, so it was very convenient to go on a hike there.

    Cons -

    • It was a shame the pools weren't up and going. Still a lot of work to be done around the grounds but when they finish it will be nice.
    • Its old and tired. I see it is up for sale. Let's hope that someone buys it who can turn it into a great experience
    • The room entrance was a sliding door and you always had to close a curtain there so nobody could look in (privacy issue). The Jacuzzi was just lukewarm the whole time, even though I’d made mention of it

Walking distance to restaurants and thermal Hot Springs. Also had a small geothermal pool.

The room entrance was a sliding door and you always had to close a curtain there so nobody could look in (privacy issue). The Jacuzzi was just lukewarm the whole time, even though I’d made mention of it

Real old school kiwi vibe hotpools which I loved. Matty on reception was welcoming, with interesting chat and a lovely end to what felt like a long drive from Wellington. Location is perfect for mid-way stop with interesting attractions nearby.

Loved soaking in the hot pools but they look like they could do with a repaint. Gym equipment needs a bit of attention. Great to see animals around.

Couldn't work out how to use some of the gym equipment.

    Hot tub

Toilet is far away and cold

The facilities are a bit dated but the folks running the business more than made up for this and gave us a warm welcome. l enjoyed lengthy dips in the private hot pool both in the evening and morning before departure.

I would have liked to have seen more of the animals.

I loved all the facilities. They had pools, private spas, play area for kids and an animal park. It was a shame the weather was terrible.

I believe they supply emergency housing, which is great for the people of Turangi who need it, however not very comforting for a family trying to relax on their break away.

When we arrived ,the staff very friendly, and offered us an up grade, showed us every thing on the map.

We used this as our base for our Alpine crossing hike. It was close to the car park (~20mins). And very convenient to the town and shopping. Having the thermal pools to soak in after the hike was an absolute treat.. the host, Jo is wonderful and could not have been nicer.

I booked the wrong room but the manager was very generous. Also listened to a reggae duo which was fun.

Even though we arrived ½ after the office closed we were met at the gate and introduced to ‘Tiger’ - the cat. Lovely staff advised having a hot pot (mineral) and cold pool (chlorine) before sleep and they were right! Very relaxing after a pretty stressful drive in the rain. We took advantage of the ‘cost effective’ accomodation (shared bathroom & kitchen) and if you’re not too picky, these are more than adequate. If you don’t value quaint, spend more ; )

Enjoyed the private hot pools as a welcome break from travelling.

Very tiny unit which had double bed, and single divan in front of the toilet/shower door. Very cramped. Metal outside chairs we had to stack up so could walk around in room! No where to sit and eat. It was raining ?

Great place to stay when looking for somewhere just outside of town at reasonable rates. Bonus features were the animals that were kept on site, including horses, peacocks, and a very friendly donkey called Ernie. There were other animals as well. The 24-hour access to the 3 geothermal pools was a bonus.

We stayed after completing the Tongariro - booked last minute. Staff were very helpful and accommodating

It’s very basic - hot pools weren’t clean or very warm. Bed wasn’t comfortable.

Thermal Hot Pools, EV charging, good coffee

    We identified some improvements

    8DenisePosted on: 3-27-2025

Loved the mineral pools & the fact that they were available at any time

would have liked a nicer area to sit & enjoy the surroundings

Everything was amazing. The service the cleanliness the pool was great for the kids and beds were clean and comfortable ?
