We love the Rainbow - amazing thermal hot pools and clean and tidy rooms.

Have 24-hour use of hot mineral springs pools on siteSpacious unit (older style not modern)

Uncomfortable bed (personal preference)

The staff were wonderful - friendly and very helpful. The hot pools were rustic but lovely and always open.

The unit needed a thorough cleaning. There were a lot of dead bugs. The bathroom light fixture on the ceiling was especially full of dead bugs.

Fantastic hot pool, open 24 hours!Electric blanket and heater are good!

Our room was missing a hair-dryer.

The quiet serenity to be found here is ‘Magickal’. Bede is a welcoming and friendly manager who is happy to chat and make your stay as comfortable as possible for your own personal needs. Hot Pools are divine ✴️?

Clean room. Lovely hot pool. Good communication

Hot pool is the core benefit. The whole place is in need of complete rebuild. All functional - yet badly neat-up.

Very clean, nicely appointed apartment with everything we could have needed. Hot pool was a welcome relax after a long days walking.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.

The staff was quite friendly, and the location was convenient if you wanted to do the Alpine Crossing hike.

We traveled around NZ for three weeks, and this place was the most exceptional one we stayed at—unfortunately, in a negative way. We gave it 2 stars only because we were pleasantly surprised to find hot water in the shower. The place was so dirty that we couldn’t believe what we saw. Before unpacking, we had to clean all the spiderwebs, which was disgusting (please see the attached photo). The room was quite old and cold, but that would have been fine if it had at least been clean. We have no idea how this place got so many good reviews.

Great little Kiwiana motel with hot pools in peaceful and picturesque spot away from crowds/noise. Ideal for an over-nighter en-route south/north or a mini holiday. You can soak in a private deep hot pool and gaze at the stars, listen to the night noises of wildlife. Each unit has a kitchen so we always bring groceries to self-cater.

Modest but functional accommodation for a road trip through the area. The hot pools were a great bonus!

Groceries, restaurants required getting back in the car.

Clean, quite spacious

Nothing else in the area to do, hot pools were only warm and looked pretty dirty

Love stopping here while travelling down country. Neat and tidy period motel with the bonus of hot pools.

Unfortunately the hot pools were extremely hot this time and we couldn’t make use of them.

Friendly accomodating owner. Nicely done up rooms but the cobwebs on inside and outside of windows were really bad.

Leaking spouting made sleeping a bit difficult.Beds are made in a very strange way.

We always choose to stay here now when we visit Tokaanu. The units are always exceptionally clean and the private hot pool is a favourite. If you get the chance, the one on the left is the best with its view across the paddock. The kitchen is well equipped and one of the two tvs is a smart tv so great to cast from your device. The double bed is really comfortable.

Tidy place and good location. Looks like only 7 apartments so nice and quiet and has a great private soak in the hot pools

Needed more power points. Most people have tech they want to use or charge in a convenient location

Very helpful welcoming host who, as we stayed for 5 nights upgraded us. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Hot pools are a bonus and always available.

A bit of road noise

Plenty of space and the kitchen facilities were useful for breakfast. We also had access to hot pools on the site and a clothesline. Near to the town with decent restaurants. We also based here due to catching the shuttle for the Tongariro Crossing.

No AC but the bedroom fan worked fine.
