Tui Base Camp

They wanted $40 extra in an upgrade for 2 of us. It would have been only $20 for one person.

Location was great for Humpridge base. Staff very friendky and helpful. Great sausages. Good parking.

We ordered fish and chips, fish portions very small. Toilets were wet due to showers in same location. Noisy (although went quiet after 10pm)

Room of my own. Other people staying were quiet. Beside pub to buy dinner.

Beautiful food in the restaurant. Excellent staff, so friendly and accommodation was great.

The location was great. Service was good and quick, they were expecting us.Rooms were a good size, plenty of heating options and the kitchen was adequately provisioned

Floor in the shower was not great and sinking so made having a shower a little bit uncomfortable expecting to maybe go through the floor

The best part was the receptionist

Even though a backpackers come rooms, I thought the kitchen area was dirty. Dog apparently allowed in the place and under control was ok. Language from the gentlemen was not the best as there was a child around. Toilets - paper holders needed fixing and shower mixer needs to be fixed. The room was clean enough, not sure what the fridge was there for. Due to the price it was ok

Safe, comfortable, clean and lovely staff

Place was acceptable and affordable but a little dated and not that clean in the shared areas.

Great communal kitchen / lounge area

Not really enough toilets (only 1 upstairs, and two downstairs) for the entire building

Affordable and good location.

I stayed at the property on the night of Saturday 21 Dec 2024. The following day I started to develop a rash which got progressively worse and spread to other parts of my body. After a couple of weeks I went to the doctor. The initial diagnosis was bed bug bites and would clear up in a week or two. However after two more weeks it got worse. It took a range of pharmaceuticals to get on top of this. It has improved significantly but even now, on 7 Feb 2025, some rash is still present. Given this started right after staying there it is obvious I picked it up there. More attention to hygiene and cleaning of the property is required. Not just beds and bedding, but also carpet tiles - my clothes were on the floor overnight and I suspect any bugs living in the carpet tiles got into my clothes then onto me. I would not stay there again and would not recommend to other people.

Spent one night here pre HumpRidge track. The lodge has a huge kitchen with everything you’d need, ended up with a 4 bed dorm to myself, comfy beds and super quiet. 4square supermarket across the road and the lodge itself sells food too. You probably wouldn’t want to spend your honeymoon here but it’s perfectly comfortable for a night or two

Good location for Hump Ridge Track office

Mattress and pillow was poor quality, I could feel the base when I sat on the mattress. Everything looks old and tired.

Awesome stay at Tui Base Camp. Really friendly and accomodating staff as we rolled in late following a road closure. I was in a bunk which was comfy! The kitchen and bathroom facilities were clean and well stocked. The shower pressure was the best. PERIOD. great location to the Four Square for supplies and to the start of the Hump Ridge Track. THANKS

Everything there and close

Guys partying next door. Wasn’t fun. Could have decent mattresses, they were horrid. Feel sorry for anyone normal adult weight, would be so uncomfy

The location

The whole place, rooms and hallway, smelt bad and unclean The bedding smelt like cigarettes had been smoked by them and not fresh at all I used my sleeping bag insteadThe place was dirty and uncared forFor the price what did I expect but the smell was horrible and needed urgent attention. Other guests who stayed there also mentioned this when walking the humpridge track

Great value. for money.awesome facilities,restaurant,cafe,bar,bottlestore and shop.

For us it's proximently to our intended destination , reason for booking.

Our original room we booked, we walked and walked out, was not of a good clean standard, we were upgraded to a unit thankfully at no extra cost. But though a great improvement a little more care in maintenence would have given it a better presentation.

4 square across the road for supplies, the kitchen food was amazing and staff friendly

Shower floor needs help and repairs other then this the place was suitable

Very spacious units which are located across the road from the local 4 Square. The cafe restaurant on site provided great food and was staffed by super helpful people.

Time for an update. Double glazing and heat pumps needed.
