Pros +
- The design of the hotel, the terrace of our room overlooking the sea.
- Great location - just past the busy part of the malecon therefore it’s quiet but still an easy walk to the centre. Very spacious room with a very large patio and nice view of the sea (jr suite with sea view). Great shower. Very friendly staff. They helped to arrange a snorkel tour that was very good and well priced. I would stay here again.
- Nice rooms with ocean views but we paid more for that. Wanted rooms close together but seemed to be the more expensive rooms that were closer. Clean, quiet, nice interior courtyard with numerous plants and trees. Walking distance to everything.
Cons -
- Loud music in the breakfast room. The hotel's own beach was not great, but nearby beaches were fine. The wifi did not work about 70% of the time.
- There was a lot of sargassum when we first arrived but they did do a lot to clean it all up by the time we left. The neighbouring properties do not clean up the sargassum at all, so as much as this hotel tries to do there is still a lot and the smell was strong. Due to this, the entrance to the water was not very appealing. The offerings at the restaurant are very limited but we preferred the walk to town where there was lots of variety.
- Needed a bar fridge to keep things cold in the room. No ice. No coffee machines in the rooms. Complimentary breakfast was toast and cold coffee. Wi-Fi was a problem could only get it by the check in desk.

I like the location so peaceful, they gave us an upgrade and we have the most beautiful room with an ocean view and a big shower. The food is really good they have pasta with lobster was my favorite, also I had tuna carpaccio and pizza, of course, the included breakfast was a very good and good portion.
Javier the afternoon waiter omg terrible service, he made me feel so uncomfortable because he went directly to tell me that I left him a few tips the night before, and he didn't know how much cash I had (this town has only 1 ATM with a lot of issues) but the main thing is his service wasn't great for has more tip, when he asks me for more, of course, I give him a lot more than he deserves because I feel scared, a shame because that makes me doesn't recommend this beautiful place. I recommend this hotel fire him, I already read another bad comment about this person.
Reception area and that was in the front of the beach.
The bill at the restaurant was 2000 pesos and our tip was 170 pesos, the waiter complained about the amount of the tip saying the people usually give 15% of the bill. He was rude.
I booked a spacious comfortable room with a great view of the ocean (Junior suite). The hotel itself is located just outside the bubble of cruise ship crowds, so much less busy than otherwise could be. The staff were amazing, and always very helpful, even with knowing minimal Spanish (Thanks Suzette!). I was able to book an amazing personal solo excursion through the hotel to see Lake Bacalar and Chacchoben ruins, highly recommended! Great Italian restaurant as well, for breakfast and dinner, delicious.
All was good
If you want a secluded place but relatively close to the main restaurants and activities, then location is great. 5-7min bike ride or 15-20min from city center. The facility is also clean. My room (#19) was at the top floor and in front of the beach (great views); however, not all rooms are like that. There are many rooms at the back of the hotel. There is an okay restaurant in the hotel; not the best food in town. Had dinner there more out of convenience, not because the food or service were great.
The beach in front of the hotel is not the best. I preferred to rent a bike and go downtown for cleaner beach (they better clean the seawater). Many items were listed in the breakfast menu, but not available: some fruits, yougurt, etc. Additionally, I didn't like the service of one of the owners: the one in the bar. Conveniently on Saturday night, he said the hotel was not accepting credit cards. No signs anywhere to alert the customers. Even though I was a hotel guest, he "suggested" that I walk 10min at night to withdraw money on an ATM! When I refused and complained saying there were no signs of "no credit card today" nor the waitress said anything, he relunctedly charged my room...and came with the machine the very next dinner. My desire was to not eat there any longer, but walking to town at night was not appealing. Overall, he was not the most friendly.
Right on the beach with nice lounge chairs. I loved that it was a few minutes outside the main strip of beach clubs with all you can drink for the tourists pouring off the cruise ships at the other end. Rooms very clean and nice. I also love that breakfast is included... Talk to the people next door about renting bikes! They are very nice and willing to negotiate.
I find it bizarre that with all of Mahahual TOTALLY EMPTY -- I was the only one in the hotel for a full week. Only a few scattered other guests for a night or 2 -- they REFUSED to negotiate and give me a cheaper price or a slight upgraded room! Maybe they are just worker bees, and indeed I heard that the Italian owners want to give it a posh vibe, but I find that to be very bad business indeed. In the end, I paid a bit more for my room with a beach view and view of the mangroves. Well worth it!
Location was great, a little bit away from the center, nice, quiet and peaceful. I rented a bike in order to go around faster. The hotel was beautiful, I had the junior suite with beach views, massive balcony with sun beds and a hammock. The bed is very comfy and clean room in general.the service was very nice. Suzette at the front desk is always helpful and available for a chat. This was my favorite stay during my vacation. I highly recommend it.
Shower pressure could have been better but I'm just being very picky lol
Overpriced, dirty beach, not worth money!
No fridge in room. If you buy some fruits, nice tables in waterfront not for you. Only for restaurant visitors. Staff Suzette inform- You pay for the room, stay in the room!!!!! Want tip? For what?
Clean place, friendly staff and good Italian restaurant.
This hotel is like a fairy tale. We came in december so it was decorated for christmas and it was gorgeous. But the actual wooden structures of the building and the inner courtyard are so charming. They offer free breakfast, which you have a choice from within their main menu. Or you can upgrade if preferred Free unlimited drinking waterAccross the road from the hotel is the beach. There is a hotel area in the beach with sunbeds etc which are lovely. The staff were incredible. Suzette was so attentive and honestly such a nice lady. She couldnt do enough for us. The bedroom is very comfortable
The hotel is a little walk away from the main restaurants and bars but this is not a problem as long as youre prepared to walk a little. It will probably be good on the cruise ship days as it will offer more peace.
Everything. Nice clean room. Comfortable bed, Cable TV.Very nice, helpful staff.Great food in restaurant. Nice little beach in front. Quiet!
Beach seaweed wasn't cleaned up, so laying on the beach got bit by sand fleas. Just bring bug spray!
Typical Caribbean experience, warm, but loved the fact it was at the beach, within walking distance to restaurants and shops. Very touristy.
I love it.
Location, quiet! Super friendly staff. Excellent wifi to work. Great breakfast.
Quiet location away from the loud beach clubs and cruise ships.
There were no hammocks although there were beach loungers.
Very kind personal, they gave us upgread of room and surprise us for our honeymoon!
Quiet and relaxing
The shower wasn’t working and the beds and pillows were really old
Room was basically good, restaurant was ok but not great, people were very nice and helpful.
The wifi was poor, the tv didn't work enough for subscription tv like netflix due to signal issues, the bathroom sink faucet needs adjustment, it sprays the water so that it gets your shirt and pants wet when you are washing your hands. The restaurant was high priced for the area and the food was generally good. But the cook didn't understand basic things like how to cook a steak medium rare, or how to do eggs over easy. Each room has only one key. This is challenging when one person is somewhere else in the town and you need to get into the room solo.Inside the room, a "junior suite," there was just one room with the bed and a bathroom. That's not a suite. A suite is more than one room. To sit and read, or talk, or watch tv or whatever, one can sit on the bed or in the uncomfortable metal chair at the little vanity. There is no comfortable chair or small couch for sitting and relaxing indoors.
I have fought and will continue fighting to have this charge removed from my account. I arrived to the hotel the day of my reservation only to be horrified by the conditions and false advertising posted by both booking.com and the hotel. The moment that we arrived, there was a rancid smell similar to sewage due to the piles of seaweed accumulated right in front of the hotel. We spoke with the receptionist who claimed to be the general manager of the hotel and explained the situation to which she responded, “I’m sorry that we are not up to your American standards but these are the conditions that we live with everyday”, she also stated that if we wanted to cancel, we could have cancelled a day before and it would have been free cancellation. I’m sorry, but if we are traveling from the US, HOW are we supposed to know that the pictures that you are advertising are nothing like what is actually there!? I had booked 3 rooms for 2 days and was charged a $800 cancellation fee which is beyond ridiculous.
