The beach front

- The room with private pool smelled stink and was disappointing, the private pool is NOT in good condition, the pool was falling apart and there’s broken tiles all over the pool and the pool didn't looked clean- The main pool was closed off to all guests also- The staff wasn't helpful at all .

Location is great, right on the beach and a short walk along the Malecon to restaurants.

We had a great view of the ocean from our room balcony. The room was very spacious, with a large bed and space for luggage. The room was cosy but modern.

It would have been great to have a minibar to chill water bottles, considering it gets really warm outside.

It would be nice if they cleaned up in front and made a prettier area. It wouldn’t take much to make the restaurant cute instead of falling apart

The restaurant is a bit pricey, the place was empty for two days in a row which, from our point of view, is not a good sign.

We liked the place . We were overpriced the first night at the bar. Breakfast was great value.

Hotel Bar had issues with ice one day and couldn't do any frozen drinks that my wife wanted.Beer selection at the bar changed daily, this was due to several reason given by the wait staff, one day the reason was because they were low on ice another day it was because they didn't order from their suppler.

The food was very good, but the service wasn't up to par. One of the waiters was on his phone and he messed up our order. When we told him that we didn't order two of the same food he insisted that we did and set down the plate on the table and walked away, as if to say that he didn't make a mistake and we have to pay for it regardless. Also, the day before we saw a special on the board for a nachos and when we ordered it the waiter told us that the special is only if we order a large beer with it, so we did. The day of checkout when we were clearing our bill we saw that they were charging us full price and when we asked the lady about it she said that the special is only offered at a certain hour. But, that is not what the waiter told us. He just 'sold' us the special. We didn't make a big deal about it but we did tell the lady that her waiter never mentioned that to us.

We paid a good amount of money for 3 rooms and each had there flaw. The AC from the double room was super filthy.The King room was so small that it was stifling and the lighting was very dull.Let's not start with the 2 bedroom apartment- it was on the 3rd floor facing the garbage dump, the fridge wasn't working (and we had insulin that we needed to keep cold and we were travelling with a baby), the stove was rusty and the bedsheets were disgusting/filthy. (The lady did come up and change them when I made mention of it, so I do give her thanks for that) But, that shouldn't have even been an issue to start with. When I tell you the sheets and pillow cases were gray- yuck!

The toilet did not have adequate water to flush properly. Repairs were done but did not fix the problem. When we checked out early we were not given a refund nor an accounting of the charges. I thought Booking.com would reimburse since we booked our next stay March 6-13 in Bacalar. Now I discover the reception at Aqua Star pulled a fast one. I will get no refund from Booking.com.It must come from the hotei.

It was a great little spot the pools were nice and the restaurant was good

The room was a bit small especially the bathroom and the restaurant service sometimes slow but all in all I would stay again

Horrible experience, The rooms smell musty, the price is not worth it, they are dirty rooms, the sheets and towels are stained, a bad smell comes out of the hotel, the walls are damp, it smells very damp, I do not recommend it, it has been very unpleasant

Rooms are pretty small and very noisy

It was easy to find, on the beach, room was spacious.

No covers on the beds, so we were cold. The pool was closed.

Hotel rooms are good Bar and restaurant very good, we enjoyed talking with Federico the bartender. Very nice and friendly staff.

Is not worth it for the price. WiFi doesn’t work and the receptionist didn’t leave us to use the pool until 3pm in our check in, the next day another receptionist offer the pool to another customers before the check in. Very rude. The hot tub didn’t work and we had to change the room for another one at 10pm. We are really disappointed and we still waiting for an answer from the hotel.

Good air conditioning, nice view from the rooms, black out curtains, spacious room, comfortable bed.

Unfortunately when we arrived, the main pool was green. I specifically booked the property because it has a pool and we have a young child, but we couldn't use it. I also booked a suite with private pool for the same reason, but it was dirty and the water was cloudy. They tried to clean it after we asked them, but unfortunately by the third morning of our stay, it still wasn't clear, so we couldn't use that one either. The room did not feature a mini fridge or coffee maker as the images showed. I wouldn't have booked a room without a fridge because we have a young child who needs baby formula refrigerated. And I would have brought my own coffee maker if I'd known they didn't offer one, since the restaurant doesn't open until 8am. We checked out 2 days early. They refused to give us anything in the way of a refund. It's just a badly managed place which is poorly maintained.

the hotel room was without windows and the shower was absolutely not working. only a few drops per second and it took 5 min. to get a bit of temperature to the water. the pool was dirty and the beach is non-existing.

Never again

We stay for 5 days, sometimes the water go out, there’s no phone on the apartment and you have to down there to let them know about it. On the roof top pool they used liquid bleach, me wife’s hair got damaged and her clothes as well. They don’t let you drink your own beers unless you buying it from the restaurant

Breakfast was ok but a little expensive at there restaurant. Although not their fault the smell of rotting seaweed was horrific. It was seafront but due to seaweed that wasnt a bonus. Rooms were large

Very little storage in room. No tea/coffe making either with your own materials. The pool wasn't the cleanest either. Access wasnt great into the pool.
