Muntri Grove Hotel

The staff were extremely nice. The room was clean but rhe property was gorgeous. Truly beautiful and tucked off in a remote area. I will be back ad this hotel was booked up when I tried to extend my stay

I loved everything.

This was one of 5 places we stayed at in George Town.The original room on the ground floor had issues with mold, paint peeling off the walls. When we broached our concern, the resourceful staff graciously offered a solution. Our new room was wonderful, from the high wooden ceiling to the comfortable seating area where one could lounge. It felt like we were visiting a favorite aunty’s home, all the nostalgia you need to slip into the past, effortlessly. The architecture, especially the modernization that complimented the original heritage home and the decorative accents from a bygone age made the experience worth while. Touches like the four poster bed with mosquito net added utilitarian charm, adjustable shutters that allowed light in, or shut it out. The ceiling fan and AC. We could draw the curtain for more privacy, or let in more light otherwise.The ample supply of filtered water from the dispenser on the 1st floor, and glass reusable water bottles.Cooling off in the pool at night.

Toilet paper could not be flushed. Sadly the noise from the nearby open air karaoke bar (till 2am during the week) is unbearable. We came prepared with earplugs as some prior reviews mention this.

Room is spacious and beautifully appointed in simple Peranakan style. Originally the building housed the servants for the family in the Muntri Mews, and the understated decor of the rooms reflects this. The gorgeous poster bed being the exception! Landscaping and 1st floor pool makes you feel like you are in an oaisis away from the busy Penang streets while also placing you very close to everything old George Town has to offer.There are not many rooms so there is a feeling of coming home at the end of a busy day with staff being very welcoming and approachable.Felt very safe returning to the hotel at night.

Nothing. This hotel was exactly what I was looking for.

Excellent service from Ragu, Suffian, and Martin. My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this relaxed colonial hotel. The hotel does have a lap pool which is quite clean. The location is perfect and close to a lot of good restaurants.

There are few clubs which run to 1am and for light sleepers it can be noisy

It was very nice. The room was big and very comfortable. The location was nice. The stuffs were extremely helpful. We enjoyed our stay there.

Hotel staf and hotel met expectations

The loud music and karaoke that went on until 2am every night killed all enjoyment not to mention our sleep!!

Good location, friendly staff, spacious room with old world charm. Free minibar and water daily, tea and coffee in room. Ground floor was nice as we had a little table and chairs outside.

The pool didn't look particularly inviting as it was a little green and there are no loungers so we didn't use that area at all. We did have an issue with the air-conditioning but it was fixed after reporting twice.

- Location in terms of closeness to to Center - Adequate staff

- Insanely loud, every day 7 days a week you will hear club music and base which is just in front. Changing the room will not help, the further you go from reception there will be another sound issue - huge ventilation system working 24/7

Great staff, loved the pool area, huge rooms which are very well appointed and spotless.

We loved our ground floor Deluxe King room with its high ceiling, clever layout, attractive furnishings and ample space overall. The tucked away location avoided street noise and we weren't troubled by surrounding night-life noise despite being typically sensitive to it. At times our upstairs neighbours' footsteps seemed busy but mostly the whole ambience was very peaceful. The small lap pool and free ice-cream were a bonus on the hottest day.

Fantastic location, everything we wanted to see in Georgetown was within walking distance. The rooftop pool was great after a long day of exploring - the pool is smaller than the pictures show, but it was perfect for a few laps. The room was exceptional - extremely spacious and comfortable. The room was decorated authentically and was one of our highlights!

Great location in the heritage area of Georgetown. Muntri Grove itself is a beautiful building complete with plantation shutters and with a welcome pool to retreat to after sightseeing. Lovely cafes and restaurants are within 200m of the hotel. Very friendly staff. So lovely too to have had a ‘visit’ from the monkeys one afternoon as they passed by the hotel pool.

Some noise/loud music later in the eve but this was not the fault of the hotel and it was ok overall.

Nitpicks would be rough towels, tv isn’t very useful, needs some more blankets for the night, some mosquitos (need better repellant).. no pool (but that was known).
