The hospitality, old-world charm with modern amenities. The central location and very informative, well-meaning staff who always enquired about where we were going and how our day was. The welcoming feel of the room, almost like you were in your own home.

The property is very well maintained. The location is excellent, right in the heart of George Town. Airport transfer services is very smooth.

An old colonial style building filled with charm, situated in an amazing location.Every room has its own name, here you’re not just a number. All the staff are super friendly and welcoming and the place feels like a real home away from home. Special shoutout to Kumar for the George Town 101 and securing us a room with a bath (amazing bath btw!)Breakfast in the Michelin awarded restaurant downstairs is very nice, and although the selection is simple, every request is made fresh and sets you up for the day.

The AC had a bit of a funky smell, maybe time to clean these?Also not the best hotel if you have mobility issues, the only way up and down is via some rickety old stairs, which could pose a challenge for some.

The staff were exceptional! They mapped out areas for us to visit and get around town. Every evening they had a complimentary homemade dessert for us as well as a carafe of lemon tea and fresh water in our refrigerator. There is a beautiful terrace on the top floor and a library on the 2nd floor. The breakfast was the best ever! They even packed us a to go breakfast when we had to leave early for a flight. It was excellent! I can’t say enough about this great hotel!

In the heart of historic Georgetown is the quaint boutique property The Campbell House. We loved our stay! Greeted every day with a big smile and so much hospitality by the staff, especially Andy and Kumar! Service and cuisine in the restaurant top notch! Huge room very comfortable with lots of character. We loved the library and terrace for coffee and reading/napping after walking all around Georgetown. So many great places close by and the staff at The Campbell House won't steer you wrong!

This is a perfect hotel to choose for your central Penang access! The restaurants, shops and fruit stands are all around the hotel. You must give it a try. There are only a few rooms inside the hotel building, and you have a public library study on the 2nd floor, which is awesome!

Nothing that I did not like

The property itself is beautiful, with lots of old charm and convenient amenities. The staff was friendly and the location was perfect. The sweet treat surprise at night was a thoughtful touch!

The smoked salmon breakfast and coffee wasn’t great, but the fruit was fresh.

The welcoming and friendly staff is the best part of my stay, from the receptionists who recommended me local food to eat for almost every meal, to Mr. Lin who is like a loving Chinese uncle who gave me rec for Durian and always wanted to make sure I felt comfortable with the temperature in the lounge area, to the staff at the Italian restaurant who remembered which wine I enjoyed the night before.I enjoyed the interior decor and layout of the hotel too, as well as the complimentary fresh ice tea and desserts given to me daily in my fridge.

Classic George Town accommodation. Well-kept and maintained. Lovely breakfast and great service from the staff.

I know this is to keep the property well maintained but the wooden stairs represent a hazard with no shoes allowed upstairs, please consider more safety modifications to avoid any accidents. I was very stressed of not falling down the stairs...

The hosts and employees were really lovely and welcoming. We got good recommendations for the city. The hotel itself is a gem, beautifully designed and full of charm (don't forget to have an aperitif on the terrace). Also, there was a little surprise from the chef in the fridge at the end of every day. Breakfast is in the nice Italian restaurant downstairs (Michelin recommended) which offers a good variety of a la card options to start your day. The location in the middle of the old town is perfect to explore by foot.

One of the lightbulbs was flickering, but no big deal

Staff was kind and extremely helpful. Il Bacaro restaurant was simply unique, its Italian ambient, meal’s presentation was amazing and flavors were perfectly balanced.

Old Chinese house in the centre of Georgetown. Very easy to walk everywhere. Excellent breakfast and I had a nice Italian dinner there.Nice bathroom and shower.

The Single room was quite small but adequate. Poor choice of TV. No lift

We had a wonderful experience at Campbell house. From the second we walked in the front doors where we were greeted with our names and a high smile. The welcome could not have been warmer. Throughout our stay the staff were exceptionally kind, friendly and helpful. The room was gorgeous with local products for us to use which were delightful. We had a fabulous breakfast each morning which set us up for the day and was a high standard too. Can’t fault the staff and hotel al all.

This is my second time staying at the Campbell House. The rooms are beautiful. The bed is comfy. The staff is very kind and helpful. The location can’t be beat!

Aircon quite noisy

Super cosy, staff fantastic, rooms exactly like pictures...Everything worked super well..Big recommendation to travellers who wants to expirence the colonial atmosphere which George town is build on

Very good breakfast with plenty of choice.Location was good for old town sights, with everything walkable and plenty of places to eat nearby.Staff were very helpful with suggestions of where to visit and how to get there.Room was very clean, and a lot of effort was taken to make sure this was the case. We had lots of reports from other travellers in other hotels who said cleanliness was a problem elsewhere.Daily home made cake was a nice touch, as was the regular refill of iced tea.

Room was very dark as it was not possible to open the shutters on the windows.
