    • In total honesty, the location, perhaps? However, even then, only somewhat. The hotel is at the very top of a steep hill. Not for everyone. Furthermore, their are an ample amount of other fantastic hotels and hostals that actually know how to run their establishment unlike Don Alfredo. The issue here is that it is family run. Therefore, their sadly is an imense lack of seriousness when it comes to customer service. It is not taken seriously at all.
    • It was in a great location, easy to get everywhere by foot.
    • Excellent location in the Old Town & short walk to beach areas, public transportation.

    • REVIEW from SATURDAY JULY 12 2025 OF DON ALFREDO HOTEL OLD MARBELLA SPAIN IN GENERAL: - flimsy air condition system- lack of updates, dated- late check in, not respected - weak breakfast- location situated at TOP of hill, not ideal for all ages - beyond rude staff There are A TON of hotels in Marbella, Old Marbella. This one however is to be AVOIDED. Horrible experience. Unfriendly staff. I hate to admit this but truly zero customer service at this hotel. DETAILS : Family run hotel. It is clear that the daughter of Juan, the owner, dislikes her life. She is beyond rude, grumpy, and totally unwelcoming. She even yelled at me for getting my luggage that were held in a public space next to the reception. The daughter then proceeded to yell and talk about my mother and I in spanish in the next room to her father, Juan. In general, after spending some time in Marbella, a lot of locals in Marbella / old Marbella make it very obvious that they are annoyed of tourists, especially tourists who do not speak fluent Spanish, even if tourists are respectful, and try to speak spanish, it is clear that they are completely annoyed in general. That said, we have stayed at 2 other hotels and had a fantastic experience (Old Marbella Hotel & A hotel on Calle San Ramon). Just be advised that this hotel is a huge no even if breakfast included (a piece of toast and jam with a boiled egg is all they offered). Your decision to make in the end. Simply keep in mind as to what to expect if you choose to book at DON ALFREDO HOTEL in OLD MARBELLA, SPAIN.
    • Overall, the property was pretty good. Although it’s on a quiet street there are still a lot of cars honking horns.
    • Thin walls & ceiling, sounded like furniture being moved around late evening, early morning. As other reviewers have mentioned, breakfast was uninspiring, same every day. For first timers in Marbella, had higher expectations given the clientele, especially since it's family owned and run. I appreciate that it's been a long summer tourist season, but positive customer service & interactions usually result in more positive reviews & repeat guests...

Incredible place! Great clean and comfortable rooms, quite big with comfortable bed. Room had sea and mountain views and strong air conditioning. Everything was great and exceeded our expectations. Beautiful location right across from the castle and the delicious breakfast was a lovely addition. Would highly recommend!

    Nothing!

It’s in the old town and so close to the beach! Staff were amazing and so welcoming and always there to help! The breakfast is good I love that there’s outdoor tables to have your coffee with the view of the castle

The only thing is the pillows they just need to be more comfortable I truly had a trouble sleeping on them it wasn’t comfortable at all

The view of the Moorish Castle from my room was spectacular. The hotel is situated beautifully. You can walk straight into Old Town and have restaurants on every street corner. I also enjoyed the beautiful plants on the street side and the orange trees that were blooming, orange blossom (neroli) perfumed the air. This is an older hotel but well maintained. The bathroom is modern with a great shower. Nice breakfast with very good coffee and the staff was very friendly.

The guests in the room above me were very loud, shuffling furniture across the floor until late and up again early. As this is an older building with ceramic tiled floors the noise was horrendous.

Great place to stay. Clean, comfy room with breakfast. Kind stuff. We also did not have a problem park the car nearby for free.

My favourite hotel in Marbella, next to the ancient Arab castle walls. To one side a very impressive modern suspension bridge, great contrast. Comfortable beds, lovely new wet rooms, fabulous! Breakfast buffet the very best, cereals, all juices, breads, croissants, cold meats, cheese, fruit, yogurts, best coffee around, wonderful. The brothers who run it are lovely, charming gentlemen,it's my go to place several times a year.

Fantastic location for the Marbella Old Town. Quiet area, Very relaxed atmosphere. The staff were helpful.

Room was fairly basic (expected), but some useful facilities were not present - e.g. water glasses, kettle. The towels were thin and small. The breakfast was disappointing especially the coffee. The hotel is old fashioned and feels generally tired.

Location was great, staff were friendly and helpful

Bathroom a little dirty especially the shower cubicle…..bedding was heavy and only one pillow and no spare. Breakfast basic but coffee was good

Basic facilities, but great location in the old town

Decent value breakfast although no hot food (other than toast)
