Pros +
- Very helpful staff. Very nice quaint hotel with a great location. Lovely room.
- The breakfast and dinner were outstanding. The staff members were excellent. and extremely helpful in answering any questions pertaining to locations of various landmarks and theater.
- The manager was the perfect hostess and the staff was professinal and friendly. Everyone was happy to work there. We also had a wonderful dinner and we received excellent suggestions for an after dinner drink and touring the city the next day.
Cons -
- We have no complaints.
- It would have been nice if the staff matched half the charm of the place. Not necessarily bad, but not anywhere close to adding to the atmosphere.
- The faucet in the bathroom sink is not made for that sink. It sits too close to the edge of the sink. It would be better to have a taller arched tap. It seems like an easy-enough thing to achieve, given the thought put into the other details of the place. Not that big a deal though.

Friendly and helpful staff. We did have breakfast, which was delicious.Hotel itself was very charming.
Amazing rooms, romantic and full of old charm yet not lacking in modern amenities. Truly special place in a great location next to everything worth visiting in Southampton.

Lovely English style. Book about the various 'Pigs' in the room (this is one of several, and the book explains the ethos and has recipes). Loved the bath salts, nice touch, even though I did not get to take a bath. The restaurant/sitting room was so nice. The food was good, with fresh ingredients. Loved the spiced apple cider at breakfast. Just generally really a charming, well-thought-out place.

Very unique property within walking distance to the port. Great location and staff. Comfortable rooms
Very unique location. Clean rooms very nicely decorated. Breakfast was amazing.
All good
We loved everything about this charming petit hotel. The location was spectacular, the decoration and atmosphere were beautiful and rustic, and the breakfast area was very cozy. The room felt like something out of a storybook, with a super modern bathroom and a spacious shower with excellent water pressure. The bed was very comfortable, the cleanliness was impeccable, and the staff were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always ready to recommend places to visit or eat. Thoughtful details like evening tea and lovely amenities made our stay even more special.
The room was quite small and with open suitcases it was a bit difficult to move around. However, given that it is a petit hotel in an old building, it met expectations, and this was only a minor detail compared to all the other benefits.
Francois and his staff were wonderful! Food and wine was fantastic. The location of the hotel was perfect for sightseeing.
Not much. We were not pleased with this hotel.
The room was cramped up to flights of narrow stairs. Lighting in the bathroom was bad. Nowhere to put large cases or unpack properly. Did not eat there because there was no room. Just had breakfast. If you wanted a boiled egg, you had to boil it yourself.
Excellent location. Very courteous hosts. Great food. Nice room. Lots of charm.
This hotel is full of great character — old, but incredibly charming. While there’s no elevator, but the staff were more than happy to help with luggage and were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The food was absolutely delicious — clearly made with care and attention to quality. The hotel is a bit on the pricey side, but honestly, it’s worth it for the experience, comfort, and service you receive. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable place to stay
There was no hot water for a shower in the morning. The staff said it was because many quests were showering at the same time. We had to wait until the heaters could catch up.
This was an exceptional place! Easy walk to the cruise terminal. Beautiful room, super comfy! Amazing food. Staff are above and beyond. Can’t say enough good things!
Wish I would have planned to stay longer!!
It was quaint and unique. We had dinner on the property once and our meal was delicious. The second night we had wine and cheese which was also very good. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Outstanding staff that clearly love their jobs. Hotel was exceptional. Comfortable bed, all the comforts of home. The rain shower was so nice i found it hard to get out….
We had a wonderful experience during our stay. The room was cozy, and the bathroom exceeded our expectations with plenty of space, including a large shower that was perfect for two. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we had a restful night. On our departure day, we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast that truly stood out—it was all farm-to-table, fresh, and delicious. Overall, a lovely stay!
A cute place in a great location. Friendly, helpful staff.
I thought that spending $ 390 (USD) per night was VERY expensive, and it did NOT even include breakfast !!
Staff was "over the top" friendly and accommodating. Stored our luggage prior to check in, then delivered it to our room when the room was ready (we were out in town at the time). Made recommendations about taxi to the cruise port, and showed interest in us personally. Breakfast buffet was "just right." Location could not have been better, and the "inn" atmosphere is what we desire when we travel (opposed to "hotel"). If we make it back to Southampton, we will stay there again.
Unfortunate that there is not a lift to the third floor. Stairs were steep and tight, but staff handled our luggage for us. This is acceptable, as it's a historic place, and some history shouldn't be changed!
The rooms were comfortable, the staff amazing and the food exceptional. The location of the PIG, built right into the wall of the old town, added to the charm.
