About
In the heart of the market town of Romsey The White Horse is just a few yards from Romsey Abbey. This 14th-century boutique hotel offers a brasserie and bright, elegant rooms. The hotel’s Georgian facade conceals a Grade II listed building, with individually styled rooms. Some feature original period features, while all have a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and a private bathroom. A mix of traditional and modern dishes is served in the award-winning Brasserie, which has views of the courtyard. The bar stocks real ales and a wide range of wines and whiskeys. The hotel is 10 minutes’ drive from the scenery of the New Forest, and there is fishing on the River Test just a mile away. Romsey’s boutique shops and restaurants are within 0.5 miles.

Breakfast was excellent - we chose the hot option although the buffet choice looked pretty good. I had a full English which was brilliant, and my partner chose Eggs Benedict which was also excellent. As a coeliac, he has to be careful, but we found all staff very knowledgeable on the subject, and happy to help. We also dined in the restaurant in the evening, and the same was true. Excellent food and service. Perfectly situated right in the middle of Romsey, with a carpark just behind the hotel.
Couldn't fault it!
The hotel was relaxing and the staff were friendly
Loud music late and we were at the back and they had a Scottish theme and they were playing loud music and singing it finished at 2300 then someone opened the doors and they continued again and it was even louder.
All the staff were exceptional. Breakfast was great. The room was too hot at one end and too cold at the other end. Dest was too smal to be able to work in the room.
fantastic location, wonderful history, cheaper than premier and convenient nearby parkinghighly recommendStaff were very friendly and helpful
everything, but original tudor wall paintings top the bill for me
Beautifully furnished and comfortable and roomy. Excellent location, staff and outstanding food.
Friendly staff, lovely premises with lots of seating areas, excellent location and good breakfast.
The restaurant was a little bit expensive and I would have liked some freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast.
Excellent location for a night our with friends in Romsey.
No secure parking. We had to park in a public car park.
Beautifully furnished and comfortable and roomy. Excellent location, staff and outstanding food.
Clean & friendly
Professionally run
We liked the location also the general decor and atmosphere of the hotel It stayed with the original idea of the building
We have stayed in many places and for us this was one of the best
The reception team were very friendly and helpful.
We were worried about leaving our car full of luggage for our upcoming holiday in a public car park, but it was all fine.
The way we were greeted, the comfortable room, the Christmas card & gift, so festive! The breakfasts were excellent. The location was perfect & close enough for us to have breakfast & then attend the Christmas service in the glorious Abbey. All on all a delightful stay.
Nothing!
All the staff were really helpful without being intrusive. The breakfast was very well cooked. Poached eggs done properly- a rare thing in hotels.
Excellent Hotel and facilities
Parking was a problem - however, parking near Waitrose (Alma Road) was excellent - less than five minute walk
Food good value for money. Location very good central. Staff attentive.
Stairs were difficult with a big step into the bedroom.
Hotel and room was very nice
Waited over 20 minutes for a coffee at breakfast, gave up waiting and went to coffee bar across the road.9
Another pleasant stay in this comfortable hotel in town centre location.Comfortable, cosy bedroom with good shower along with tea/coffee making facilities.Good bar and restaurant.Amenable staff.
Lighting in room could be a little brighter.Wall lights do not give a great deal of lighting to main room.
