The Cross Scythes

The restaurant was wonderful although we did not have breakfast. We enjoyed dinner and drinks. It was warm and friendly and the room with the balcony was perfect. We couldn't have asked for better and would stay again.Thank you.Jeff & Helen Miller, California

Very nice place, convenient to where we were visiting. Very nice staff and food.

The room we were in had a very drafty patio door so in the night it was quite chilly, but apart from that a very enjoyable stay

The pub is really a nice place for a drink. The lighting is really well done. Very impressive. The price of the accommodation, but below maybe why it is priced low.

The room and the bathroom were terrible, and the food was disappointing. The room had a balcony overlooking a very busy road so no-one would use it. The door to the balcony does not close tightly so the noise from the road is loud. The bathroom was very small but clean. However, the toilet did not flush properly and the shower was not inviting enough for me to try it. Not sure if the marks were dirt or areas requiring attention. Very disappointing. There are only small hangars for shirts, not for pants in the cupboard. Hopefully these points will assist the owners in improving things for others.

Quietness and uniqueness of this location is really nice. Very friendly and helpful staff. The pub, restaurant and outside seating area are very inviting.

Only one blanket in the double room is kind of disappointing.

The breakfast was limited & somewhat disappointing. There were variations of full English breakfast but the continental was confined to almond or chocolate croissant. A nice addition wld have been orange juice, granary bread, bagels or wheat toast.

Didn’t like shampoo/soap options, hard mattress & pillows.

Excellent breakfasts and the staff are simply superb. Ample off road parking, would return for sure

Some sort of fire safety type security light in bedroom that has a motion sensor on it… on off on off every time you moved near it

Lovely location. Only 4 rooms above the pub/restaurant but this added to the "cosy" vibe!Staff were really helpful and friendly, WIFI was good & the breakfast was fantastic (lots on the plate but good quality too!)

The location was great. Staff were excellent. My only issue was room was not refreshed with t bags or milk. Towels were not changed.

Breakfast was of a very high standard. I ordered the continental on both mornings but the second time there was slightly less variety and number of items.The cooked breakfast was lovely.

The hotel was closing down. They didn’t have much food left for dinner or breakfast. We checked out 1 night early and were told we we would be refunded. After trying to contact them several times, we still have not received a refund. Booking were also unable to help us.

Breakfast choice was limited due to the Cross Scythes Closing down. Not much to commend the place really.

Shower needed a good Clean. The Room was tired. No tea bags in the room, no toilet rolls and an empty roll still on the holder. During breakfast staff where hovering around our table and where the buffet breakfast items where laid out. Balcony had old glasses on the table. Exceptionally overpriced for poor facilities.

Excellent, attentive staff - even when clearly dealing with a VERY full pub and with some tricky 'systems' issues.

Billed me for my stay on the card they insisted I add for any meals/drinks, as well as taking the money on booking.com.

Fourth trip and still a great place to stay. Food is fantastic and the rooms are very clean and comfortable.

Nothing, as always everything was exactly as advertised and great.
