Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel

The location was great. Very easy to walk everywhere.

When we checked in the air conditioner was broken. We specifically booked a room with air conditioning. They had set up a loud box fan in the room and you could not even hear. The staff was not helpful in resolving the issue.

Shower could not be used. Flooded the bathroom. To spend 200 plus for a night and not have a working shower is a joke. Really upset. Would like my money back.

The area was close to work

Worst flat pillows and extremely small beds.

The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and looked nice. Rooms were cleaned daily (also towels). The location is relatively central but still a good walk away from the main centre. Oxford itself is of course a nice city with all its history and good selection of restaurants.

I was disappointed by the fact that the room was noisy. They had put me in an annex building where next door the rooms had only teens in them waking me up two consecutive days at 5 AM. My complaint was promised to be escalated to the manager but it did not result in any feedback or compensation to me, which I consider unworthy for this level of hotel chain.Besides this (major) incident, I didn't like to be located in a separate building. The bed was short for my long body (191 cm). Main room lighting was too bright. Fridge was not so cold (and couldn't get rid of its heat). WiFi was unsecured which makes it cumbersome for work purposes and mobile data coverage was nearly absent. This made it also impossible to order room service. All together with the price paid for the room, it is overpriced and not worth it.

No resurant for evening , no room service that we found on the qr codes, privileged room over rated , mini drink soft bar water or coke, leak in the lobby, we feel a little disappointed, but would stay because of location but for normal room

There was a smell of drains on the ground floor and in the rooms on the top floor. In the morning there was no water which wasn't the fault of the hotel but all we were offered was a bottle of water as a goodwill gesture. Luckily it didn't cause me too much inconvenience but for someone there perhaps for an interview not being able to shower could have been challenging. I was also cold in the lounge. Without a phone in the room to call reception I had to get dressed to go down to report the water problem and find out what was happening. I dont understand why these have been removed and it is age discriminatory to only have QR codes to gain information about the hotel facilities.

Great location, room very clean and comfortable

Being allocated a room with an accessible bathroom, this was not required and reminded me of some recent hospital stays after surgeries, quite triggering. Would not want this again

Great location and generally nice hotel

Strange smell in reception.Quite cold due to being an old building.So noisy at night because of road and no double glazing.Rude staff member the way she spoke to me in the car park while waiting for a car to be moved and it turned out to be hers.

Really lovely room, comfy bed and great shower. Coffee machine provided in room as well as towelling robe and slippers - much appreciated!

Breakfast was a buffet of mid quality - better breakfasts available in cafes nearby.

Staff nice but quite vague. No food available only breakfast. Told couldn't have coffee during the day as didn't know how to work coffee machine. Smelly drains in bathroom

The location is wonderful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were helpful.

The bathroom was a little cold and it's a shame there wasn't a bath, but the shower was nice.

Nice room, great location close to the city centre. Easy booking process and paid on arrival.

Check in process was woefully inefficient. 10mins wait for three people in front of us. Lots of shuffling a pieces of pre-printed forms that didn't appear to have been sorted into any order. One staff member left to manage all checking in customers while other staff members wandered past the reception desk without helping. Price quoted for breakfast nearly double what we paid in a nearby cafe.

When we asked for a new room, they responded positively. Bar tender was friendly

Room was not safe. Roof buttresses towered over the bed and the lone chair. Too easy to conk your head. The electrical work was faulty, flickering lights, burned up the hotel hair dryer. New room was much better but mold and mildew in bathroom tanked its improvement over the first room
