    • Very easy - got a code and away you went.
    • Friendly staff
    • very clean, comfortable hotel. has the basics for a good night of sleep

    Cons -

    • Too expensive, I expect a coffee machine, better towel, and better service in the room at this rate
    • odd layout
    • Took us a minute to figure out how to work the key codes. But phone assistance was immediately responsive and it’s very easy once you know what you are doing.

It was clean. Had all the essentials one would need for an overnight stay.

Location isnt the best. A mile walk to Oxford city centre so you are more tucked away in a local residential area.

    9JoyPosted on: 8-1-2025

Comfortable beds, quiet on the upper floor, clean rooms, and excellent staff who were always onsite and ready to address any issue, such as a request to stay an extra night. Walkable to central Oxford and also on a bus line, near some good restaurants, like Spiced Roots, and multiple grocery stores.

Ground floor room windows needed cleaning, and the location might give women traveling alone pause if they plan to be out late at night but on the whole the neighborhood seems safe.

The location was great and the room was really comfortable.

The WiFi was pretty bad and I had immense difficulty connecting.

    7JenniferPosted on: 7-18-2025

The room was large, updated, and clean.

We did not enjoy the location at all. It sounds like its in a calm residential area, but we found that it was a block off a main road with lots of small shops and restaurants. The groups were a little rowdy. I am sure I would have appreciated it in my 20's, but this was a lot of money for a less desirable location.

Clean, new and good size rooms.

A bit far from the center and tons of road works all arose the area.

Comfy bed. Front Staff is super helpful. Carried bag upstairs, etc. They will hold your luggage if you arrive early. Electric pot in room with tea and coffee. Room safe fits laptop. Cheerful rooms. Shampoo provided. Elevator to first floor only but desk staff will assist to second floor. I stayed twice and found the first floor room was larger and sunnier.

My comforter was stained. I asked the front desk Staff to replace and he did at my insistence.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in and out was very easy. I appreciated that no room keys are needed because you have a code to get into your room. The hotel is in a great location for transportation and restaurants. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The cleaning staff was great.

Not many on-site amenities but again it was located near so many stores, restaurants etc, it was not a big deal. The room was small but cozy for one person. The bathroom was tiny but functional.

Great hotel and very modern rooms. Perfect location for O2 academy and local bars/restaurants. Check in a breeze with the Goki app controlling door keys and entrance. Only thing to let it down was very noisy housekeeping a 8am with doors banging obviously intentional as to ensure guests check out at 10am!! Option for later check out, especially at weekends would be a plus

Great location. The family room worked perfectly for us. Easy to walk to the center of oxford/ the university etc..

    8FrostPosted on: 4-8-2025

The digital experience around the key and entry was novel and was a slight concern until we arrived but worked well.

No breakfast service was a surprise as did not realise that when booking. Parking was very difficult as pay parking was full and had to spend some time searching for something that worked.

Firstly, the Crown hotel is more like The Crown house. I would describe it as a relatively new renovated large house merged in with another two or three to make it a super large house, just off the high street in a residential area, and the house kind of fits in with the other houses in the residential area, so you could miss the fact that it's a hotel at first. It's on the corner, opposite the pub, The Black Swan. The decor inside is neutral and modern, and most importantly without carpets (yes!), so the place is clean and has a very easy to clean vibe! carpets never age well, right. The place still has a new feel, it smells fresh. When we arrived, late afternoon the woman on the desk was welcoming, all the hallways were clean, clear, ten out of ten for clean first impressions before we got to the room. We were able to get our door codes and get ourselves settled, no keys or cards to lose, just remember your code. There was a small lift, that went from the ground to the first floor. The lift was quiet - no excess noise, clean and looked relatively new too. From the first floor to the second floor we went up the steps and they had an anti-slip strip, so someone in the design plans had thought about safety on the stairs on wet days too.The hotel is opposite the pub and although it was a Saturday night the music went on into the night but did stop. I was so tired and the room was clean, comfortable and had air-con, heat-con, so I was able to relax and watch TV, I was comfy and just fell asleep. Some of the things in the room included a small kettle, coffee sachets, a couple of small bottles of water, a hair dryer, shower gel, conditioner and shower caps. The bathroom was clean and modern looking too. There was a high fixed shower head and a flexible movable shower head with a shower mat in the shower. The hot water reached a nice heated temperature. There was no bath but this was as advertised.

The facility is accessible, clean, comfortable and with a good working staff.

    Nothing in particular

Friendly welcome. The gentleman carried both of our bags to the top floor. The room was immaculate! Lovely sleep in very comfy bed! Quiet, air conditioned or heated. Would definitely recommend!

    7AdamPosted on: 3-26-2025

The room was fairly clean overall with modern furnishings. Great location and on a quiet residential road off of the high street. I was impressed by the size of the room. Checking in was easy and the staff member was friendly. Water and tea were provided in the room.

I could never get the app to work so had to use the door codes, no biggie but would've preferred having a key card. Room was a bit dusty up high on the shelf by the entrance and clothes hangers. Weird marks on the duvet cover, I think it was a stain that didn't wash out. There were food crumbs by the headboard and the bathroom window curtain had toothpaste or something smeared on it. I also found it fairly noisy - the door locks make loud beeping noises even in the middle of the night when someone comes in. Luckily it's not a big hotel so this wasn't a major issue. One of the three blinds was broken and did not go up, so less sunlight during the day. The shower controls were a bit bizarre and the shower was tiny! Also, no hair blower available which would have been nice to have.

Friendly staff, free bottles of water in the rooms, big beds, modern room and bathroom, allowed my friend to park her bike indoors as no outdoor area to safely lock. Walking distance to town and off a high street which great restaurants and shops including big Tesco and a pub across the street.

A very convenient place to stay close to Cowley Road that doesn't break the bank. Very clean. Nice big room with everything you need, including bottled water.
