Pros +
- Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food. Convenient location for the train station. We will be back.
- Wonderful location, great food and peaceful room.
- Cosy room, an abundance of tea/coffee pods, biscuits, toiletries. It has lots of character such as a beautiful old fireplace in the room. The restaurant is lovely and breakfast was delicious. It was exceptionally clean too. I admit, I had my reservations about staying in a pub/restaurant,especially as a solo female traveller, but it's not that kind of vibe at all, it's lovely. The restaurant was quite busy in the evening but a nice crowd and a nice ambiance. The room was very quiet once I went upstairs.
Cons -
- The stairs to the 2nd floor were a challenge with heavy luggage. We will pack lighter next time.
- Nothing. I have to come back.
- It’s close to the train station but it’s under construction

The staffThe internet and the cleanest The great a la cart breakfast

Clean comfortable room within 5 - 10 minutes walk from railway station. Staff were very friendly and accomodating to our requests and let us leave our bags even through we arrived well before check in. The restaurant serves excellent steaks so try to fit a lunch or evening meal in the restaurant with your stay. Breakfast is cooked to order and can keep you going for most of the day.
Limited seating in the room, but if you are out exploring Oxford during the day, its not important.
Location, boutique-ness. Size of room
No kettle or English teabags
Excellent restaraunt and staff
Would have liked a second chair in our room
Lovely quirky accommodation with excellent food and friendly staff. Easy access to the train station and 15-20min walk to city centre
The room, staff and breakfast were great!
I don’t like down pillows - personal preference. The roadwork around the train station makes it less easily accessible, no fault of the hotel and manageable once you figure it out.
the Porterhouse Grill has very confortable rooms. The beds are excellent to enjoy a good nights rest. The bathroom is clean and luxurious. We also enjoyed a the food during diner, aged steack is an absolute treat. The location towards the city is excellent a 10 minute walk to the center of Oxford. In the other direction the Thames is just next to the hotel and the walks in the morning are fantastic
Oxford parking facilities are horribly expensive,or even not available make sure to seek alternative.
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is located very close to the Oxford train station and only a short walk into city center. The meals were excellent and we would highly recommend the Porterhouse to travelers
We liked it all!
Very spacious room, nice breakfast, great location
More breakfast choices
Fantastic property in close proximity to everything, but had a quiet feel. Staff was exceptional, very welcoming and helpful. The biggest surprise was the exceptional breakfast.
No issues with anything
I love pubs with rooms! So much more fun than a chain hotel. This one comes with excellent dry-aged beef.
Well, the coffee was not wonderful, either in room with the Bosch machine or in the pub. But hey, this is England! The caffeine worked.
The room size was good. Pillows were decent.
The stairs are a legit safety hazard, the slanted floor in the top floor room is alarming, the road connecting visitors to the university area being completely unusable is a huge issue. No where to park and impossible to get around between the accommodations and the attractions. The bed was awful! There was so much wrong.
The food was delicious. The rooms were great. And the staff were kind and helpful.
Lovely pub and rooms. We really enjoyed breakfast and loved our dinner. Every staff member was so helpful and friendly. Great location - easy to walk to everything in the city and close to the train station. The water/milk fridge was an unexpected, wonderful added touch. Great coffee machine in the room, but we preferred to gather in the restaurant for our morning caffeine.
The staff was wonderful, they were very responsive to any questions or needs. The chateaubriand with bearnaise sauce was amazing.
No body lotion in the bathroom
The inn is conveniently located close to the train station and tourist area (not too close to experience noise). Our room was wonderful and we enjoyed staying in a small boutique inn. We ate at the Porterhouse Grill and the food was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. I’d give my stay 6 stars if I could.
Nice property near Oxford railway station along a quiet street. The room was nicely laid out and modern with a good bathroom. Milk provided in the fridge on the landing. Breakfast was superb.
The restaurant associated with the hotel is an up-market dedicated steak restaurant, with little else. Its USP is steak. Make sure that that is what you want before you sit down in the restaurant.
