Pros +
- The rooms were beautiful, clean with additional added surprises , free biscuits, water, coffee, tea hot chocolate .
- Central location and room very comfortable.
- A comfortable, spacious room in a hotel bang in the middle of Oxford. Staff very nice and willing to take our bags before check in and keep them after check out.
Cons -
- I liked everything
- Breakfast disappointing, over priced.
- Overall we felt that this room was very expensive for what it was. It was perfectly fine, but it felt very much as though we were paying solely for the location, which admittedly is very good. The continental breakfast was very average for the money, and whilst the room was fine, it didn't in our view have the extra specialness we'd have hoped for given the cost. It did the job but not much more, give the room was over £220 a night, I'd have expected more than that, and we've stayed in much more special rooms for as much as £100 a night less.

Quaint, well appointed rooms, helpful staff , great location
Friendly staff, comfortable room, clean, location, coffee/tea maker in the room, complimentary water, safe deposit box, hairdryer, iron board, iron, hairdryer
No fridge in the room, continental breakfast for £20
I loved the Room pretty special room tbh. Very Large.
The Tv remote not very good! Only fault. Only to watch the Morning news with a Cup Tea!
The location was excellent, right in the heart of Oxford and within walking distance of major attractions. The building has a charming historic character, and the room was clean and comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful during the stay.
The room was slightly small, and sound insulation could be improved, especially at night. Other than that, everything was fine.
Great location, easy walk to the station and then walking distance from all the tourist attractions and things we wanted to see. Nice tea, coffee and biscuits station in the room. Staff very friendly, easy check in and out, able to leave our bags there pre check in and then delivered straight to the room
Bed was really uncomfortable to me, my husband didn’t mind too much but very hard bed and especially pregnant was even more difficult to sleep. Room was on the ground floor and from 7am on each morning could hear every door open and close and people talking as they started their days. Old building also so heard the pipes from the bathroom rattling each morning as people woke up and started using showers. Meant was quite toted for our trip as not a comfortable nights sleep and early starts to the morning due to the noise
The property is on the heart of Oxford. Less than 5 minutes to the Ashmolean and in the heart of the shopping district. But very quiet.
Fantastic location interesting position opposite the Oxford union both the hotel and the Oxford union are such beautiful buildings. Love the exquisite staircase and Regency features have been kept.
Minor gripes here but shocking wallpaper in the central body of the hotel, unsafe plug points for kettle and coffee machine, coming away from the wall.
Location, building with character and very friendly staff
Nothing!
Location and comfort. Interesting building, nicely appointed. Friendly staff.
The Continental breakfast was a little on the sparse side, great central location, quiet and comfortable.
athe location is exceptional, in the very heart of old Oxford, and the rooms spacious, cozy and displaying all you need.
building work next door.
Location is great. Shower was superb.
The welcome was good but very indescrete when discussing the bill. The room was very cold on arrival and then the temperature was hard to regulate. The two slipper baths were not clean. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The television remote did not work properly. Having bags of sheets dumped outside the door and cleaning staff hanging around in public areas on their phones just waiting for you to leave in the morning was intimidating and uncomfortable.
Buffet breakfast included very nice salmon. Staff very friendly and accommodating.
The only improvement l would ask for is a more comfy mattress. Mine was too hard for my liking. Other than that, a really great small hotel in a great central location. I would book again.
Pleasant, comfortable, lovely shower
Outside noise late on Saturday evening
The Location was excellent . The size of rooms were really good and the beds really comfortable . Everything was very clean. The tea and espresso machine came with biscuits which mark it high for me .
The rooms were decorated very darkly considering the small amount of natural light in both rooms we stayed in . The first room , the shower temperature never went above tepid and we were moved to another room where eventually the water became hot but not till I had wasted a lot of of water running it to get there. The second room temperature never got above 18 degrees despite me boosting it several times . I think it was expensive for not having a communal area or sitting room. The staff were efficient but not very welcoming or friendly . A welcome that makes you feel you are special and expected makes all the difference .
Suite was lovely and location great for the theatre:
Not really a hotel, entry was awkward - no bar and I tried to book a breakfast for my parents given their wedding anniversary and was told they had the vending machines. Room quality 4 star but hotel service didn’t match it at all.
The best thing about this hotel is the location. It used to be excellent but has deteriorated quite a bit.
Small room with too much furniture so nowhere to put suitcases. Water pressure very week. Lumpy pillows.
How it was clean, comfy bed, check in woman was polite and lovely. Round the corner from westgate.
The room was sort of on a slant, uneven floor slightly
