    Cons -

    • Small room but had everything we needed.
    • It’s a bit tired, needs a bit of an upgrade
    • Room was very tired. Very noisy, every time we used the toilet, sink and shower the pump was horrendously noisy. The curtains didn't cover the whole window, and let in the light. I was convinced I'd booked breakfast but the staff weren't sure. There was no fruit, yogurts, cereal and pastries to help ourselves, which we are used to when we stay in hotels. There was no cream or mushrooms. I would definitely have not stayed if it was included. I was very disappointed and I'd also booked a second room for family and was embarrassed. I thought it was very overpriced for what we received. We stayed at the Clayton in Leeds a couple of weeks ago, it was as round the same price, and the comparison was off the scale. Such a shame!

What a surprise to find his property at the very last minute, as a quick stop before flying out of Liverpool the next day. The property is so much charmed, history and is an absolute delight. The surroundings are so beautiful. The room is very large, comfortable, and superbly clean. It was fun for me to walk through the bar restaurant area before going upstairs to the room, such a charming feeling and unique for me. The staff were completely supportive and went out of their way for a few requests I had.

Spacious clean rooms with comfy beds good value pub fare

If you going to serve tea the water needs to be boiling and not from coffee machine, plumbing noisy

Clean but tired and in need of a refresh. Noise from bar and music till last orders, very noisy plumbing, decor needs some attention and only one double electric outlet in entire room. But clean and warm.

    Warm friendly hospitality. Clean room.

2 food item and 1 drink item were not available but the app allowed us to order. Ice-cream was substituted for cream without asking and was a dietary issue. The mattress… omg please throw it out and get a new one - there was a trench on either side!!!!!

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was well cleaned but some aspects are rather worn. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were warm. We were interested to see a link to the Beatles in their Quarrymen days which we hadn't known about. Nice photos and the staff showed us the venue for their gig for George's brother's wedding reception. Great fun. Very good value for money.

The plumbing needs a bit of renovation and the provided towels were small and thin. Breakfast wasn't great but the staff did their best to accommodate us.

Good location and value for money.

Service was a bit slow. We could hear music from the bar in our room.

Wonderful friendly staff a clean room for overnight stay. Great historic location. I should expect that this is a great local pub for community.

Tables in the dining area are tired.

Having stayed before we like location, friendliness of staff, breakfast and the most comfy beds.

The decor is getting very tired now in the bedrooms, stains on the walls by the tea and coffee facilities and the bathrooms need a good update. It's sad because it will put people off.

Good hotel, comfortable room, good food and drinks. Friendly staff.

It was extremely busy when we arrived (a sunny Sunday) so parking was a problem at first.

The staff were super friendly and so accommodating. One of the staff members knew I would be out all day during a training course and offered to pop the heating on in our room to make sure it was comfortable for when we arrived back which added a lovely personal touch to the experience? Nothing was ever to much to ask of them and the room was super clean! We stayed in room 4 and it was nice and spacious with massive gorgeous windows. Some of the other rooms are smaller but ours was perfect.

    The shower can be noisy

Lovely historic building & attractive location in quiet hamlet, overlooking the ancient church. The bedroom had character, such as an old fireplace. There was some interesting Beatles’ era memorabilia in the bar downstairs, as George Harrison’s sister held her wedding reception here. Quite a few names of people married over the road etched in the window glass too. Passable pub grub. Very handy & yet feels faraway from the hospital at Broad Green. Staff were very friendly & helpful & breakfast was very good. We were lucky to find the beautiful C12 church open on a Thursday morning. A delightful & soulful atmosphere.

It could do with a lick of paint in places.
