Pros +
- Room very small but comfortable. En-suite good. Staff lovely. Food pretty good.
- Only about 15 minutes away from the centre, good breakfast, staff friendly
- Lovely big comfortable room, great ensuite. Breakfast was good and all the staff were lovely... Friendly but professional.
Cons -
- Breakfast choice limited. Would have liked some of light breakfast to be included in cooked breakfast instead of having to choose one or the other.
- The pillows were rock hard, no remote for TV, when they brought one up, the TV was unwatchable because of a constant buzzing sound. No soap in the bathroom to get a wash.
- There is nothing to dislike except visit passed so fast. I will be returning

Close to the town centre clean friendly staff
The breakfast was lovely.

Very nice personal welcome. Homely hotel with lots of comfy seating in communal area. Loan book available and lots of local info. The staff were knowledgeable of area. I had to iron a shirt and there was facilities for this. This is a lovely hotel for all.

Very clean. Comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff
Room 14 shower temperature stuck on cool, so not hot enough.
Terrible room 18
The room was small, the taps were falling of the sink, the very small shower room was dirty, the bed linen was stained and the mattress was a joke. I have never seen so thin pillows.
Well located, decent breakfast and polite staff.
Water pressure in shower was abysmal/shocking/non-existant, had to use sink! disappointing otherwise good little stay in great location.
everything was beyond our expectaitions, large comfortable room, friendly staff, a traditional luxury in my opinion bar and dining area and a very good breakfast choice well cooked to
i wouldnt want to change anything
The warm welcome from the reception staff. The friendly waiting staff and the owner of the hotel.
I have no complaints whatsoever with the hotel.
Lovely building , rooms beautifully decorated, very homely feel. Decorated for Xmas & very festive. Staff really friendly. Lovely welcome Excellent breakfast Parking available
Ideally situated with a short walk into town with a bonus of free car parking. I’ve happily stayed here a couple of times, staff have always been very friendly & a freshly cooked breakfast always helps. I’d happily stay here again for a third time.
Clean, friendly, quiet and close to the city centre
Breakfast was good. Unlimited coffee (freshly ground!), I was given exactly what I had asked for - except that the poached eggs were a little overdone, but anyone can do that - they cook so quickly. I had 2 x poached eggs, mushrooms, an uncooked tomato and wholemeal toast: just what I had asked for!
Unfortunately, my stay was a bit spoiled because the mattress in my room was too soft. I am sure that for anyone else it would have been ideal, but I am a bit heavy and I have back problems and I need a medium firm mattress & a pillow under my knees. There were only 2 pillows and because of the soft mattress, I needed them both under my head to get any sleep. May I suggest that you include an optional question about the quality of the mattress? For some people my bed would have been ideal, but for me it meant that I didn't sleep well. When I was choosing hotels, there was one very near the station which was £35 a night and another £125 or something like that. I thought that this one which was £72 would be a little more luxurious than the cheapest one. I was proved wrong, though of course I don't know what the others were like at all. I think this one majored on producing a good breakfast. In the circumstances, not having had a good night's sleep, I wasn't able to appreciate the breakfast as much as I might have done. It was advertised as fabulous: hmm, I certainly wouldn't describe my night's stay like that. I am sorry to be ungrateful, but you have kindly asked me, so I am saying.
Location, Breakfast was good
Too warm. Room was a little tired
Hotel was lovely! Very welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for you. Very clean and homely feel. Beautiful breakfast too! Location was good, just a ten minute walk to the main town. Will most definitely return in the future.
Couldn't fault anything
Comfortable rooms. On site parking. A short walk into city centre. Nice evening meal and breakfast.
Clean and comfortable hotel in a great location. The property has a lot of history but is clearly well maintained with every amenity. Very friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. Ample parking.
Staff very helpful. But disappointed with breakfast as it was either continental or English. Not a great deal of choice on the English
Bit old fashioned could do with updating
