Bawn Lodge

This was a last minute booking for us and the property was in a good location for our purposes

The TV did not work - to be fair to the staff they did try to help. The bathroom was not spotless - it had had a wipe over but was not immaculate which is what I would expect.

Great location for walking into Chester city centre. The Hoole area, where the hotel is located, is worth a visit in itself. Lots of independent shops and places to eat and drink. Bawn Lodge has a good bar with very reasonable prices. Staff very helpful and friendly.

We had a good stay in the family room, which was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was great and the dinner at the restaurant was excellent.

Perfect location to visit Chester. Clean room and very good breakfast. Friendly staff and very quiet room although it was on the main street.

A pump that starts when you have the shower on was a bit annoying. It would be great if it could be made silent.

The shower was just a trickle and needs replacing. One of the bar staff was rude.

Location, price, size of the room, fridge in room, no noise even though it was part of a bar.

Room got very hot in the good weather, bathroom ceiling was full of dust and cobwebs. Been to Bawn Lodge as a bar customer plenty of times in the past but the room like the bar needs a bit of a freshen up.

Pleasant

The cooked breakfast on both mornings was below standard. I'm not sure if the fat was burnt, but the food didn't taste nice. The eggs were overcooked and rubbery! We have stayed here twice before, and everything was good except this time. I'm not sure why? The pub smelt funny, and there was a collection of flys which we had to walk through every time we went to or from our room. Was disappointed this time.

Food in restaurant was very nice. Breakfast was good but needs black pudding on cooked breakfast and fresh chopped fruit (strawberries, mango, kiwi, melon, berries) on offer for the price of the room.

Double bed mattress was awful, a lot of roll together and very uncomfortable. We booked the family room and the location was poor as there was a noisy outdoor seating area just outside the room.

We had a very enjoyable stay. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner menus offered a good choice and were delicious. Overall decision: we would definitely consider staying at Bawn Lodge again if travelling to the Chester area again.

The shower would perhaps benefit from a steam clean.

The room decor is a bit tired and grubby - would benefit greatly from a coat of paint.

Friendly, easy parking , just leave car and take a 10 minute walk into town , tasty breakfast with happy and helpful staff.

Food was very nice and reasonably priced. Car park was spacious and felt secure.

Water pressure in the shower was poor.

Nearer to the road than anticipated, But surprisingly didn't actually hear a lot of noise.

First day was great with very attentive staff at breakfast. Day two I asked about berry tea and was handed a teabag and told where hot water was! Although I’d stated gluten free the only option was gf toast but still a nice breakfast. The floor is quite uneven in paces in bar which caused me to mind my step and drinks differed in price each time I went the bar, even though the drink may have been a change slightly from tonic to no sugar lemonade. Lampshades in bar could do with a dust down. Maybe an option if a throw for the bed too as I found it a bit cold

A nice leisurely 15 min walk into Chester.Everything explained to us on arrival by a very pleasant host.Breakfast superb.
