HI Brussels Jacques Brel Hostel

The location was perfect, near PT and in the city centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was easy to check in/out. It has a kitchen/fridge and nice common areas.

It was incredibly hot in the room (during winter), to the extent that it melted a chocolate bar I had in my bag stored under the bed. Only one toilet in the dorm for 10 people.

The room dorm is spacious. Plenty of spaces everywhere even at reception area and outside to hang out. The curtain at bed makes privacy.

for 10 occupants with one bathroom..i think it is an issue when everybody got up at the same time.

Good double room for a hostel, with a nice view of the square. Organized, warm room and enough space. Fair breakfast for the price. Nice staff. There were things to do at the hostel, but we were out most of the day (we stayed 3 nights in total). Really close to a metro station (can almost be seen in the square photo).

The bed was small and kinda weird, and the pillow was a bit too big. Not the cleanest bathroom (stains when we arrived), and the shower spilled through the wall to the toilet floor. The station had a lot of homeless people and we didn't feel all that safe when going in the station.

Not as advertised, not clean....

The restroom was not clean and the floor near the washbasin was flooded. Besides, the description said 10 square meters so I figured it can’t be more than 4 beds, but the room was two-storeyed with probably 25 sqm and had 8 beds.

Almost every thing was good, room are big & clean, bathrooms ok, location central almost..Breakfast was good they serve boiled egg and fruit and other simple food.

Very basic and limited kitchen tools not enough to cook ur food

Cleanliness, bedding, calmness, breakfast, staff, toilets, shower room, all I can say is perfect!

The breakfast was really really good, The room was so clean and spacious for that price, the bathroom too was great. Plenty of storage and the neighborhood was so beautiful, I enjoyed walking there

I liked the price and the friendly service. Everyone was very helpful and courteous.The location is in a calm and quiet neighborhood; there isn't much nearby, and you have to walk a bit to get to the nearest supermarket or store.

The room had a bad smell! The bathroom was not properly cleaned and it smelled bad! Everything was good except the bad smell and uncomfortable bathroom.

Very clean and all important facilities are there good value for money

Late check in

The room was big and clean. We had a very big bathroom. The location of the Hostel was amazing. We were in the center, but at the same time not in the touristy area so so it was very peaceful. The staff was very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this stay

Good place, but no AC

Overall a decent place but no air conditioning in the room. The windows where opened with three fans standing in the middle of the room and it was absolutely scorching in there.

I came too late and surprised there are lots of things that we can play I didn’t know that snd regret why I didn’t come sooner

Great, clean, great breakfast and location. We were two women and felt really safe even in a mixed dorm, there are curtains in the beds that give good privacy.

The staff wasn’t helpful or friendly perceiving. They weren’t rude per se, but just kind of like they didn’t care about us at all. We also had a lot of luggage and they didn’t offer any help to carry them up the stairs. I mean we managed of course, but it would’ve been nice if they were a bit more helpful

Disappointing

I stayed at this hostel recently and overall the place was fine, but I had a very bad experience with the night staff on the night of January 13th.The person working the night shift was extremely rude, unhelpful, and had a very poor attitude toward guests. Instead of helping or explaining things calmly, he was dismissive and spoke in a disrespectful way, which made me feel very uncomfortable after a long day of travel.I believe staff attitude is a very important part of the hostel experience, and unfortunately this situation really affected my stay. I hope management can address this and provide better customer service training for the night staff.

The stay was pleasant. The receptionists were kind. The included breakfast was simple and satisfactory.

very few options and overall looked quite bad - some croissants and bread- one type of sad cheese slides, one type of salami slices- boiled eggs which very very overcooked, hard, and cold af, probably made the day before and put in the fridge- coffee/tea machine didn't give hot water so couldn't make tea- some cereals and milk basically, if you can't eat gluten or are vegetarian, there's nothing available, so take this into account in writing, it sounds like there's several decent options but maybe in real life when you're there it feels worse due to how everything looks & doesn't seem that appetising

Booked for New Year’s Eve at a higher holiday rate (75 EUR for a night), but the stay was far below basic standards. The room had no heating during freezing temperatures, with only a thin blanket. The key-card system was malfunctioning, and even the replacement card for a new room did not work. Despite these issues, no staff were present overnight, leaving guests without assistance. The bathroom door could not be closed and the shower had no curtain, creating a serious lack of privacy in a shared room. Breakfast was very limited, and hot water was not available. Overall, very bad experience and no comfort, althought the roomates were nice and it was decently clean.
