- The location was close to everything and right next door to an amazing Belgian restaurant & bar. The owners of the hotel sisters Marae & Sabine were both welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean, spacious amd cosy. The decor is simple and a little on the dark side. My bed was comfortable and I liked the window looking out over the rooftops and street below.
- I can not say enough about this charming hotel .It is the entire package experience!... I truly would not even consider staying at any other property if I was in Brussels. Picture perfect setting. Super super clean, safe and secure..you cant get a better location. And the staff is AMAZING they are the nicest kindest group of people, truly I can't say enough about the staff or the property.. seriously I would change my dates to be sure I could stay at this property...... Amazing truly AMAZING
- Staff. Will hold luggage. Right across from the famous boy peeing statue
Cons -
- There is no refrigerator in the room. The spiral staircase is charming but a little precarious.
- Stairs are very very small narrow and winding.
- Very outdated. Water pressure is non existent in shower and the shower head was old and sprayed everywhere. Toilet seat was broke. The stairs, while not a deal breaker for our stay if you have any type of disability that does not allow you to walk up very steep spiral steps this hotel is not for you. 3 floors and if you have luggage bigger than a carry on it would be difficult to get luggge up. With the location it is bound to be noisey with tourists and that was also fine with us. But the morning of check out the city was doing some type of man hole construction and they start early and very loud with banging. Could not sleep in after a busy long day the day before.

Location is great. Hotel staff friendly. Bed is comfortable. WiFi was good.

Excellent location. You are staying in old building, and the entrance is through the tourist shop.Rooms clean and comfortable.Quiet enough despite all the tourists outside. The only difficulty is the stairs which are narrow, so if you have any issue climbing or have younger kids, you may get more tired. Owners seem very friendly and nice people.
Price a bit too expensive for the facilities but for the location it is probably justified.Would be nice to have a water heater in the room.
Great location downtown. Within walking distance to so much.
There was a little mold in the bathroom shower specifically on the seams. It was also very noisy from people on the street late at night. I slept with ear plugs and it was fine. Just mentioning.
I rarely write reviews, but… this hotel is in a very busy area so noisy at night and early in the morning. The room is very small and the stairs are crazy steep. The room was clean, centrally located, the staff great. It served our needs but not for everyone.
The location in central Brussels
No air conditioning and very busy outside until 4AM. Also the outside lamp shone directly into our bed. The staircase is extremely narrow and difficult to manoeuvre a suitcase up/down.
I loved that it was central and well located … that it was clean and it had a lot of room for 1 person
Everything was great but the pillows were a bit flat
Location. Good bed. Shower was excellent.
No A/C but windows worked and there is a good fan. Stairway not for the less agile. It is noisy until late.
The location is very good, 15 min walking to train station. Near stores, restaurants, and tourist place.
When we have arrived, the windows was opened and a lot bugs flying in the room. as the room did not have air conditioning, we have to leaved a window opened, then we was able to ear the noise from the street.
The location is excellent, we could see the Mannekin Pis from our window! Room was very comfortable, and even had a little fridge in the room which was great. As is always the case with European places, there wasn't an elevator, but we knew that going in, so no issues for us.
Just something small: We had a small crack in the shower head which meant when it was used on full power it shot out the top of the cubicle.
Excellent location! The iconic pissing boy statue is a few steps away, as well as chocolate shops, cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops.Great service, too. The room was cleaned everyday with supplies and towels replenished. I sent some messages through booking.com and the hotel responded quickly.
There's no lift and you access ypur room through a narrow, spiral staircase. So it will be a challenge if you have mobility problems or have heavy luggage.
Hotel la vielle lanterne was amazing.I really enjoyed it! Also, the location was fantastic being on the door step-literally- to Manneken Pis and the Grote Markt was down the the road or rue shall I say. IT WAS SPECTACULAR!!!! The staff were lovely and if you would like to get something from the gift shop, which is connected to the hotel.
The only thing I disliked was the stairs and the facilities.
Amazing location, 10 minutes walk from Gare Central. Quirky hotel in very old building, steep stairway, some rooms with view of Mannekin Pis. No breakfast but plenty of options in the area. Room had fridge and hair dryer.
The stairs might be a problem for some travellers. Not suitable for disability.
The location is great, right in the heart of the old city. The staff was nice and the complementary chocolates a nice add.
We had a hard time sleeping, it was very loud not only from outside but from the inside. We could hear people going up and down the stairs all morning, and the bell from the little shop under the room was constantly ringing. In addition every morning the cleaning person would knock on our door. The bed was two beds pushed together and they kept sliding away from each other during the night. The entire room is in dire need of renovation, everything worked fine but was very shabby. All in all not recommended.
This hotel did not work out for me. I paid for 2 nights but only stayed for 1 because my room was on the 3rd floor with no lift. The stairs are narrow, winding, and very dangerous. Fortunately, I only had a backpack because I could not have carried a suitcase up and down those stairs. The building is very old, the room was very small, and there was no coffee or tea in the room. The door knob on the bathroom door was broken and almost fell off. The location was nice and only a 5 minute walk to the Grand Place, which is the most gorgeous city square I've ever seen.
I didn't have breakfast, but the offerings were very nice. I was advised to try local boulangerie. This was great advice, and it was so close. Local buses stopped in Rue du Midi, a few metres from street for the hotel. 24 hour tickets available for 8.90eur.95 bus to Troon (cost 2.80euro) where there's a ticket vending machine. Can buy 1 to 5 days. GREAT Way to get around.
I have a preference for hand held shower. But that is not to say that the rainfall was bad. --- simply my preference. Temperature management was simple.
Perfect location and good value for money
Shower head was broken
A little hotel with a really tiny stairway just a few meters away from Manneken Pis. Good value for the price.
