    Pros +

    • Room was very nice. The restaurant is excellent. We enjoyed daily breakfast and one fine dinner. The staff was amazing. Shifaz was outstanding and attended with enthusiasm with every request. As a boutique hotel, it gives you a very old school fine club feeling.
    • This is the third time we have stayed at L'Oscar Hotel and we were not disappointed. All the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Florencia and Javor at reception, and Tony, the Concierge were the people who we had most dealings with and they were so helpful to us during our short stay. However, I would also like to say that all the other staff who we came across and who helped us at the bar, in the breakfast room as well as the bedroom staff were so polite, friendly and helpful. All in all our overnight stay was incredibly enjoyable. L'Oscar Hotel is our favourite in London. Thank you so much.
    • Very comfortable beds. We really liked the birds in the decor concept. Large and good structured bathroom.

    Cons -

    • There is nothing that we didn't like. We love this hotel and will always stay here as a treat or when coming up to London to see a show.
    • Service inconsistent. Most times very good, but somtimes with deficits. But really negative was a sudden 5% service charge on the room rate on the final bill .... typical tourist "ambush" .... this kind of creativity is a No-Go for me and a reason not to return also including other hotels of the group.
    • The attention at reception is awful. It is unacceptable that Nobody assists you with luggage at checkin or checkout. But that is not the worst part. The worst of it was that at checkin after having blocked more than 2400 pounds on our crédit card, he refused to give us a bill or detalled receipt. This was June 13th at aprox 8 pm. Only after going back down to reception and demandó h a receipt were We able to convince him to do it for us. We had the feeling that the only reason they do this is that at checkout they charge you what they want.Something very similar happened at breakfast. If you Don’t have the breakfast included in the price they give you menús with or without contradictory price s. They do not give you a bill to sign when you finish. When you ask about the price of breakfast they improvised different prices or offers. Another feeling of laco of transparenciy. Everybody who asssisted us at reception were arrogant.

Great location. Easy walking distance to the British Museum, Covent Garden, and right next to Holborn Station, Picadilly Line.

    No gym.

Staff were very helpful and we were greeted with a glass of champagne on check-in.

The hotel is 5 star but has no doorman so on entry into a narrow hallway it’s not obvious where to find reception. There is no signage and you either have to wander around or wait for a staff member to approach you and point you in the right direction. The space internally is extremely restricted. The reception seems to double as an extension to the small bar and restaurant areas. This means that the spaces lack identity and the ambience of all spaces does not work as a consequence. There is certainly no communal area that compares to the type of 5 star hotels we have used locally previously.

If you’re looking for a luxurious getaway that seamlessly blends elegance, pet-friendliness, and top-notch entertainment, L’oscar is a must-visit. One of the highlights for us is that L’oscar warmly welcomes pets. From the moment you step into the lobby, you’ll find the staff accommodating to both you and your furry companion(s). The hotel truly dazzles on New Year’s Eve! Their spectacular show creates an unforgettable experience to ring in the new year. Highly recommended!

The only downside was that the room was overly bright during the night.

Great location. Very helpful staff. Super facilities.

Service charge each day added for room and then additionally for the hotel? This only became apparent when the Invoice was produced at check out. Then it seemed a little ‘mean’ to ask for it to be taken off. I just wasn’t expecting it to be added/charged. It adds up to quite a lot on what is already a fairly expensive hotel room. It took the shine off was was a great stay. Final moan! The hotel bar shuts at 10.30!!! You needed to buy a drink next door in Sainsbury’s if you wanted a night cap.

Fabulous location and only a short walk to everything.

Derelict building next door - it was fine and hidden from the entrance but did take away from the prestige of the property

Being a small boutique hotel, the staff had plenty of time for you, from getting out of the taxi, we were greeted, cases removed. The guy at the front desk Yabor, was friendly, helpful actually made it feel like we were very welcome. The people at the bar were all very nice. The room was clean, comfortable and large enough with a powerful walk in rain shower.

The bar stools were not comfy, small backs to them. The alternative was to sit away from the bar in a little room. I prefer to be in the bar.

Superb breakfast..waitress listened and got right the request and special requests.

I don’t recall being told about the daily service charge per person

The room was a good size. The bed was comfortable. The shower was excellent. The staff were lovely. They remembered little details about you which was a nice touch. The room service was excellent. The staff ensured we always had water and gave us some extra treats too.

Comfortable and clean. Good location. The staff was lovely.

Lighting and temperature controls were almost down to waist level and hard to figure out. There was no breakfast buffet - just sit down service which was friendly, but slow. Food just ok.

The hotel is in central location. It was well decorated for Christmas. The bed was very comfortable.

The hotel downgraded us without telling us or compensating us for the room downgrade. We booked a 20sq. m. room which had nice pictures with high ceiling and a fireplace, but we got a small room with low ceiling and no fireplace on the top floor without the lift access. When we said that the room was not the one we booked, they receptionist said that they gave us the room that was allocated to us without explaining why we were allocated a different room from the one we booked. We came for the wedding, and we were the parents of the bride, and we were not in a position to go into lengthy and unpleasant arguments on the wedding night of our daughter. We ended up going up and down the staircase on high heels with flowers, wedding gifts, lots of other stuff, and a dog. Moreover, I had a leg injury a couple of weeks before, and the lack of lift was unhelpful. The hotel also added £40 gratuity charge when we checked in without our knowledge. The hotel does not deserve one Michelin Key. Overall, we did not feel welcomed in that hotel in spite of spending enormous amount of money on the room and the wedding dinner itself. We were also disappointed with the main dish at the wedding dinner - the mushroom risotto, which was inedible, and we felt embraced in front of more than 50 guests. We were also not expecting to have broken zippers on pillow cases - we find this unacceptable for a 5* hotel. The latter was just a minor point of the overall a very disappointing stay.

The staff made my girlfriend feel amazing on her 40th birthday. Every staff member from the moment we arrived until we left made us feel welcomed and looked after. This type of service is rare and it made the stay even better than imagined.

That we couldn’t have stayed longer due to other plans!
