    Pros +

    • The curtains and windows were dusty. Need be washed/cleaned. The hotel definitely need to have the mattress changed - can cause waits/body pains.Overall, satisfied with my stay- good value for the money.
    • Don’t sleep here!!!!
    • The location

    Cons -

    • Change the mattress
    • The room was dirty, there were mice during the night, the bathroom was very dirty, and the heating in the room was not working properly, among other issues. Because of these problems, my stay was very uncomfortable.I paid for this and when I arrived in the door say “call for x number” and the person told me, come to other hotel and sleep here
    • Firstly the hotel is not the same hotel that is on the ad.When I went at the Gresham hotel, there were many post it to call a number for the check in. Luckily the hotel (Thanet hotel) wasn’t far.The room that I booked, the toilet was dirty, wee on the floor. The man at the reception was kind to give me (upgraded) a different room. That was also dirty and also found plenty of plastic empty bottle inside of a cupboard.Woken up with a mice on the bed.

I paid to stay at the Gresham Hotel, when I arrived it was closed, lights off, no answer (so obviously a bit of a panic as i had paid for a hotel room). I called the emergency number and they put me up in their 'sister' hotel nearby (Thanet Hotel) a short walk away. The room was fairly big, and a comfy bed. It's not very modern, needs some TLC, but is well priced for the location. It's fine if you need a place to crash for the night.

The hotel being closed! It could've been cleaner. The net curtains in the room were ragged and tattered, and the curtains didnt fit the window size so the light came in.

Great location, nice building, clean, warm. Easy to check in and out.

    Could have provided basic toiletries.

    Location

Dirty, untidy, uneducated staff, missing power outlet

    1SharonPosted on: 1-26-2026

    Location. Bedding was clean.

The overall cleanliness and state of repair was very poor. The toilet leaked. Chipped paint on furniture. Marked bathroom suite. Felt generally unclean. Honking car horns playing loud music. Only socket was for TV.

The location was amazing. We were within walking distance to so many amazing places in London. The rooms were very clean! The hotel wasn’t noisy or dangerous. The staff was super helpful and very friendly!

The furniture in the rooms are very old and beat up. The lighting in the rooms is so bad. There wasn’t a safe in the rooms to store laptops etc. so ended up carrying around a lot of our valuable the entire stay.

Location great. They don't do food, but there are lots of cafes/restaurants round about. 24h reception was very useful, staff were nice, I felt safe travelling alone. Bed adequate, it was warm and comfortable enough with spare blankets if I'd been cold (I wasn't.) and the room was warm too. Nice and clean. Shared bathrooms (individual lockable shower or toilet cubicles) were clean and fine.

The whole place is frankly dilapidated, but you get what you pay for and I'm not unhappy overall. If all you want to do is sleep there, it's fine but my room at least wouldn't be a place to spend much time during the day. Some other guests were a bit noisy after I had gone to bed, but once I was asleep I wasn't disturbed. One of the toilets had graffiti scratched into the door which wasn't nice.

Very little. The room was a reasonable size and in a good location.

The room was filthy, large dust build up, a sticky substance on the mantlepiece, mould growth on the sink and shower, random dirt and hair all over. The room was in a terrible state of disrepair with very worn out and damaged furniture. The shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold and the shower bracket was damaged causing it to fall from the wall.

relativ cheap and place (close to the City Center)

It is a relatively cheap place for London, so I already knew not to expect much. The building is old, stained, and very basic. Overall, I believe it was clean, but everything shows marks of age that are hard to remove and make it look dirty.I would not really recommend it. What made my stay the most uncomfortable was the shower: it released very little water and was cold. It only warmed up enough to avoid freezing, but it was never actually hot.

Location was good. The state of the room encourages you to spend less time in there and enjoy london more.

Basic. No frills (which is fine) but whats not fine is:Dirty carpets, Dirty walls, cupboards bathroom. Pretty much everything was filthy apart from the bedding. Tv comes with no remote control or ariel, so useless.Missing lightbulbs. Only 1 out of 3 lights had bulbs in.24 hour staff cant speak English very well at all. Took long enough just to explain what a lightbulb was (issue didnt get fixed even though they had 2 nights to fix it), bathroom was tiny and water runoff spills over onto the bedroom carpet. Curtains hanging off, ripped and stained. Internal phone numbers to call but no phone to call from. Being cheap you'd expect a basic room and basic service, the standard of room cannot be excused by the price. This is cheap but it is certainly not a bargain.

Small and cozy rooms- good for solo travellers

    beds are not comfortable

I don't really understand all the hate that this hotel receives. This is not intended to be a luxury hotel for a honeymoon, but rather a budget-friendly place to rest your head after a long day of travel. The location is perfect. The room was clean, spacious enough to move around comfortably, and the bed was comfortable. It was a bit cold at night. Fortunately, the room had an extra electric heater and blankets. If you require fresh paint on the walls and updated decor, this isn't the place for you. If you want to be in the middle of everything and have basic requirements, then this is a good option for you. PS, please don't take out your frustration on the hotel staff and treat them nicely. They don't own this place and aren't responsible for its condition.

The water in the shower is warm-ish, and the stream is low. It's possible to bathe like this even in winter, but it's not fun.The walls don't have proper soundproofing, so your sleep depends on your neighbor being mindful of noise levels. There is no service to store luggage for free before check-in or after check-out, as is in all the hotels I know. It will cost you an additional 7 GBP or so.

    Good price and lovely people

staff were kind, i liked the carpet and old style inside

however the place was a bit unclean and could do with a makeover/deep clean. the colour designs in rooms could be more appealing

good location, place quite cosy, good value for money

no kitchen facilities, nothing. only hot water

    6AliciaPosted on: 12-29-2025

Very friendly staff and good location! The reviews are harsh, the place is pretty clean and has everything needed for a short stay.I booked this on the day a 26th of december for 50 € per night, every other hotel around this location started at 300 € a night so I can say for the money you pay it’s totally acceptable.

Very noisy, sometimes feels like we are all in the same room. Also the room was quite cold and the bed not that comfortable.
