    Pros +

    • The staff and the location were the biggest pros of the hostel. The room was clean. I recommend it
    • Staff was very nice and it's hard to beat the price for location.
    • The staff felt like family and they'd treat you as one of their own. I haven't seen such friendly and caring staff anywhere else. The location is amazing. It felt safe and in the heart of the city.

    Cons -

    • I'd stayed there before years ago so I knew what to expect, but the bathrooms still need a improved cleanliness.
    • I was in a different building without the kitchen or the lounge, just beds and showers/toilets. This wasn't a big problem, but it was a slight inconvenience nonetheless.
    • there are just a few bathrooms, they get used too often and definitely not cleaned enough. most of the time the sinks were dirty, not to talk about the toilet (I'm talking feces around the toilet seats). Also there's almost no space in the bathroom to put your belongings while there. I will not consider spending more nights here in the future, it's not even that cheap.

The location is amazing, walking distance from so many attractions and very well connected with public transport

Good location, in between of the city center and the main train station, also close to bus stop and a big museum, I didn't explore the hostel too much, just for sleep and take a shower and was ok.

Dunno, I didn't explore the hostel too much, just for sleep and take a shower and was ok. I was out exploring the city all day.One think: take a look at the lockers, some ones are in bad conditions and doesn't close correctly.

    I liked the location

There is a separate building as well, which doesn’t have kitchen, the toilet and bathroom 2 floors down…which made it very uncomfortable.

The staff is great, the location is perfect. Very cozy and friendly hostel

The rooms weren't the most comfortable. There wasn't any chair or sitting option inside the room, so if you have a top bunk you can't sit anywhere for a sec and have to climb to your bed. There's no table or anything

This cozy hostel is a gem in the very heart of London; its superb location being the main highlight. The facilities and rooms are decent, and everything is being cleaned daily. Despite the central location, the surroundings are very quite, so noise was not a bother.

The hotel is situated in historical buildings, and the staircases were squeaking at times. Truly a very minor bother, though. :)

The location is everything! Very close to two underground stations. The space was clean and comfortable, no notes on that.

Showers had mold on the ceiling.

I liked how accessible the location was to the city as well as the British Museum. It was very convenient to catch the hop on hop off bus down the street. The included breakfast and laundry room was awesome as well, even though I did not utilize them.

The cleanliness of the bathrooms- they could use some work. The bedrooms were fairly clean, but also needed a good deep clean. The lounge also could use a good update but it was pretty clean. Only concern was the bathroom showers and sink areas.

Definitely the location. It's very close to Tottenham Court Road Station. There are several eating and drinking places nearby. There is ample room in our dormitory. There is a sink in the room. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are generally clean. There is a kitchen & dining area in the basement. I did not have breakfast there however.

Overall I like the place. The shower rooms could use a shelf. Perhaps the toilets could use a hook or two for such things as towels and toiletries. The dormitories could also use a few more hooks to hang up clothes for the night.

The localization and the quietness of the room. Elisa was super nice to me.

I was sent to a separate building, not the main one with the reception. Although it was close, it didn't have a reception area, lounge, or kitchen. It would be helpful to provide a clearer description of this, as other colleagues and I were caught off guard.

    Location

Staff were too bad, not professional Couldn’t sleep, noise out side Lack of furniture and equipment(

it was not so clear from the advertisement that the room i booked was in a different building, which did not have its own kitchen or lounge, requiring us to dislocate to main building to have access to such areas. even though it was a short walk, its still an inconvenience. i was also aware that the room i booked had a shared bathroom, i just didn’t expect having to go down 4 floors every time i need to take a shower or use the bathroom. the beds were not comfortable either and the room quite dusty. i guess for london it was a good value for the money, as the location was good, but i’d rather pay a bit more and stay at a hostel with better facilities

The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was great. The sinks in the rooms were convenient.

There are no mirrors in the private rooms above the sink, which was hard to understand given the lack of bathrooms for the entire annex. That then forces someone to use one of the limited bathroom spaces for getting ready when there is already just two bathrooms for eight private rooms. I understand it is an old building but you have more showers than toilets, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The plumbing should be a toilet per floor and then showers (1-2) at the bottom of the house. The showers could use a stool or chair outside of them to set your stuff on. These are minimal Ikea purchases that would major improvements.

The staff at Astor really made the stay for me! Maria in particular was so sweet and welcoming, but everyone working made the hostel feel like home. The rooms were clean and not too hot in July/August. There were not as many showers as I would expect for the number of people, but I timed my showers and never had to wait.

Nothing, I had a lovely time here :)

Location. Everything you need or want is very close by. Shared bathroom and shower seemed recently updated.

Building is old and no sound proofing. Could hear every footstep of the people upstairs. Room I had was probably cleaned well but nothing they cleaned could prevent it from seeming crusty and dirty. Even the towels were worn and dingy.

    8KojimaPosted on: 7-16-2025

The staff was nice. The location is also nice.

It's hard to open the lock because it's blocked by the other bed.
