    Pros +

    • Location was great, not far from St Pancras and we had an early start. Breakfast was lovely and not too expensive. Room warm and comfortable. Good shower. Staff were friendly and helpful. Close by are lovely restaurants and pubs which was a nice surprise.
    • We liked everything. Security. Position. Staff. Facilities. Restaurants nearby.
    • Very well located close to Euston, St.Pancras/Kings Cross and the British Museum. Georgian era hotel with nice gardens/tennis courts opposite. Family room was reasonably spacious for London with a view over the garden. Modern fittings.

    Cons -

    • Can't think of anything. Our view was a brick wall, but we weren't awake or in our room long enough to be sad about that!
    • The buffet breakfast hours are very tight 7:30-9:00 during weekdays which means lots of congestion in the small dining area. Some rooms are up several flights of stairs which may be a challenge for some.
    • Due to heat wave it was oppressivley hot in the room. The coolness of the evening did not enter the room at all. In such times, a fan or two could help draw air into the room. Also some extra towels (thin that can be wetted) or spray bottles to help cool the body would have helped a lot. Also having water to fill bottles/refill would have helped us

Location and staff were great. We did not make it to breakfast but it smelled great

I experienced bed bug bites during my stay (early 2026). While the hotel claims the room was inspected, I have not been provided with any written report from a professional pest control company and am still awaiting a substantive response regarding compensation. It is very difficult to get in touch with anybody at the hotel. The handling of the issue has been disappointing and is not customer-friendly at all.

We enjoyed our stay at Mentone. Room was clean. The location is perfect. Just a few minutes away from Kings Cross Train Station and not far from the British Museum.Local pubs, restaurants and super markets are just around the corner. Otherwise if you do not want to move Deliveroo can deliver food to the hotel. The housekeeping service was professional and did a great work.We loved the breakfast. Everything tasted fresh and was very well prepared. They can also accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets. I think the formula worked for us. Overall, the experience was satisfactory compared with other hotels and B&Bs I have stayed in in London.

It would be helpful if guests were informed that the centralised heating system operates on a timer, with heating switched off during the day and turned back on at 4:00 pm. For a family with a toddler can be challenging and not comfortable. The staff provided a small electric heater which did the job.

Super close to multiple different tube lines. Plenty of great food nearby. Staff were super friendly, kind and helpful. Keep up the great effort all and thanks for having me.

Very close to Euston station, friendly staff, great breakfast buffet. Room was clean and comfortable. Shower was clean and I had good hot water.

I did hear neighbours doors opening/closing, talking in the corridor, baby crying etc. I took earplugs with me so that wasn’t a problem.

    The proximity to St Pancras.

You can hear everything in other rooms. There were three flights of stairs. My reservation was under the wrong name and wrong information. Had I not had my confirmation number they would never have known the room was for me.

    Great location and friendly staff

Stayed in November, it was terribly cold in the rooms. There was a heater in the rooms, but the windows are poorly isolated.

It is the most unfreindly service we ever had. Never again we stay with them.

The staff is unfriendly, they do not even smile and wish you good bye. They did not allow us to check in earlier but forced us to walk around the hotel for 2 more hours. Nonsense. The they said: if you want to check in early, pay us 25 pounds. Another nonsense. These people do not know how to do good business, they do not respect their customers, they do not do anything for them.We will never stay in this hotel again.

Small room. OK for one night in super location in quirky bit of London

No lift was OK for us. Serious problem for those with disability or heavy luggage.

    9KatherinePosted on: 10-10-2025

Great location, central to 3 tube stations, key bus lines, and plenty of restaurants. Despite proximity to Euston Rd, Cartwright Gardens itself is quiet and calm. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was well decorated and comfortable, as were the downstairs lounge and restroom. And it was great to be able to drop luggage off early before check-in.

Gorgeous building, beautiful rooms, stylish decor and in a beautiful street. Wonderful helpful and friendly staff. They also minded our bags for no charge on the day we checked out so we could go have a last look around London before we had to head to the airport in the afternoon.

Tiny room, tiny bathroom. A bit awkward with the two of us.

The staff were great! We had to leave before breakfast started so the staff kindly put aside some croissants for us to takeaway.
