The painted white walls in the bedrooms. I believe they used to be original brick coloured. Also, the breakfast was terrible. Probably the worst breakfast I’ve had at a hotel. We didn’t eat it. We couldn’t.

The styling was beautiful, lots of lovely details and the beds and pillows were the most comfortable I have ever experienced.

A full length mirror would be a nice addition.

Great location, great service! Loved the decor throughout. The bed was really comfy and the blackout blinds were brilliant. I also love that there’s a dressing room between the bedroom and bathroom to give you extra space for getting ready.

The room could have done with a bit of attention to wear and tear. The food was good, but the room service menu could be improved, for example you should be able to personalise your order - how you’d like your meat cooked, if you’d like extra olive oil etc etc. ordering through the TV isn’t very personal.

The bed is very comfortable. The hotel was really nicely presented.

The staff were not overly friendly. For example, they didn’t ask us how our stay was or say hello to us as we entered the hotel.

Roof top pool .cool interior .comfy beds .great atmosphere and the steam shower alone is enough to make me want to book again :)

Would have been a 10 but a few minors.. location isnt the best , staff aren't as attentive as should be in a 5 star hotel and cocktails arent particularly good .but none of these would prevent me returning

I was woken up by the staff calling the wrong room about somebody else's breakfast order. The front desk then verbally extended my checkout, but apparently didn't enter it in their system, meaning I was woken again by the cleaning staff. I called reception again to ask what was happening when the cleaning staff were trying to enter. Reception apologised and said they'd correct the new checkout time in the system. The staff then neglected to do this once again, meaning that the system flagged me as overstaying my checkout, so they called me again when I happened to be in the shower, to tell me I had overstayed. When I explained the situation to them again they apologised, and further extended my checkout time. I was leaving at the extended checkout time, and they called me almost at the moment I should leave (perhaps I was 2-3 minutes longer in the room) to hurry me out of the room. There were only 2 people on front desk that I could see, so it seemed like an impressively uncoordinated performance. When I explained to the manager what had happened he took no responsibility: first he began by trying to blame me, then he wanted to know which of his staff were at fault. The hotel is amazing, but checkout was a hero->zero catastrophe for me and I won't be back.

It was a great location, the rooms are on the small side but perfectly formed and had everything you needed! The bed was very comfortable and a lovely vibe to the hotel

Great location — just a 5-minute walk from Liverpool Street Station and about 10 minutes from Old Spitalfields Market. The staff were genuinely friendly and consistently accommodating.One downside was that the restaurant had been rented out for a company Christmas party, and the music vibrated through the floors, making it difficult to sleep. The team did offer to move me to another room, which I appreciated, though it’s not ideal in the middle of the night.The following day, when I mentioned purchasing the Virgin Hotels book, they generously offered it to me as a gift in compensation — a thoughtful and classy gesture.The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the in-room coffee machine was excellent, and the bathroom was spacious with a fantastic shower.

The hotel operates on a concept where the lounge bar, breakfast venue, and restaurant function as separate businesses. In practice, this significantly detracts from the guest experience. One of the defining elements of a high-end hotel stay is the ease of enjoying a drink or meal within a space designed primarily for hotel guests. While Hidden Grooves is undeniably excellent, there is no area reserved for residents, which removes any sense of exclusivity or comfort.The rooftop restaurant — where breakfast is served — further highlights this disconnect. It feels like an external venue rather than an extension of the hotel. We encountered issues with our breakfast reservation, and resolving them required direct coordination between the hotel reception and the rooftop restaurant — a responsibility that should never fall on the guest.Breakfast itself did not meet expectations for a 4-star hotel. Instead of a buffet, guests are offered a limited à-la-carte menu, with most items priced as extras. Although these were ultimately not charged, the structure feels transactional rather than generous, undermining the sense of hospitality that defines a premium stay.The gym is well designed and fully equipped, offering a genuinely positive aspect of the property. Overall, however, the experience was underwhelming. This mirrors the rooftop pool, which appears far more impressive in photographs than it does in reality.

The lighting in the rooms was too bright. Harsh & unflattering. The door in the bathroom kept sliding closed so that I had to slither through half of the doorway.

Great spot. Looks stylish. Nice bars and rooftop.

Rooms are so tiny. Always a bit disappointing after the photos online.

We couldn’t get a space for a drink in the bar & we weren’t informed about reserving a table . Also booked for 3 people but room seemed set up for two (cups, bottled water, coffee pods etc

Private Christmas parties taking place which meant there was no admittance to bars . 2nd floor room , music & noise from party goers travelled.Breakfast pretty poor, insufficient.Limited to one cup of tea or coffee, extra cup charged for…Lack of communication & information from staff.
