Pros +
- Location near Euston and theatre Luggage storage in day of arrival and departure
- Return visit, location is good for Euston Station and Theatreland.Clean and comfortable, staff pleasant. Breakfast is all cold buffet which is plentiful and fresh.
- Cheap, pleasant staff. Bed was comfortable.
Cons -
- Room needed updating. Peeling paintwork
- Due to some issue between Booking.com and the hotel our booking was not visible to check in staff! To be fair a very suitable room was provided in the next door hotel (same reception & owners) for one night, but had to change to a different room in original hotel for second night. Not dreadful, just inconvenient. Not sure who or what was the problem here.
- The second floor toilets stank! I mean very, very smelly. We just walked past them; that was enough. The stairs were narrow steep and with no lift a long way even with a small bag.

The property location was perfect, it was clean and the room was excellent for what we required. The staff at breakfast were very efficient and always pleasant -Constantly working.
We were located next door to the reception so very close to the main doors, we heard the bell several times during our stay but the noise from the bedroom upstairs was more disturbing than that-we think they must have been jumping around with the banging we heard.
The location was great, and the room space and cleanliness were also great. Breakfast was ok - as expected based on the other reviews - nothing extra, but everything that you need. Staff was very nice and helpful if needed. I think that I was allocated to the quiet side of the hotel, so I didn't hear sounds from traffic, which was also great.
However, I like to sleep longer in the morning, which was a bit problematic due to the noises caused by people already awake from 7 am. But ok, I know how it is in hotels :) The only complaint I have is that even though they have heating in the rooms, it is not turned on all the time. It can get a bit chilly.
I liked the price and the location. The hospitality was excellent. Small rooms without WC and shower. But it is clean.
Some of the equipment was not repaired in time and it showed side effects in various part of the building. Like repair the ventilator in the bathroom maybe cheaper than repaint the room... ;)
Location, friendly staff
Shared bathroom, breakfast service
Clean and friendly staff
Place was a bit dated and needed a few repairs and had obsolete fittings in the room
Friendly welcome & good sized room. Breakfast was great.
The shared toilet and bathroom were up 2 lots of stairs with a fire door - this made going to the toilet in the middle of the night not very convenient.
Comfortable, clean and warm. Good location with access to underground, shops and pubs. Also liked the breakfast and gluten free option. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Very nice atmosphere.
TV reception was poor but wasn't a deal breaker. The gluten free bread was great and my wife who is celiac appreciated the option. However she found others using the gluten free bread who clearly didn't require it and also people using the designated toaster with normal bread. As a suggestion it may work better if there was a separate location for gluten free food station to avoid confusion. We were very appreciative of the option though.
Travelled via Aberdeen / London Euston Caledonian Sleeper train and selected the Arran House hotel for its close proximity to both Euston Station and Central London.Found the hotel to be good value. The staff were friendly and helpful. As we arrived several hours before check-in, we made use of their luggage holding area, enabling us to explore the surrounding area baggage free. Although our en-suite room was on the ground floor, street side, it was nice and clean, and we were not bothered by any outside street noise. The room itself was on the small side, and the comfortable bed could only be accessed from one side. Fresh towels and toiletries were provided for the small, but adequate ensuite.
A good continental breakfast was provided. However, the selection on offer was rather restricted. The breakfast room was small with limited seating. At times it became terribly busy. Due to ongoing refurbishment, we had to use the sister hotel breakfast room which was next door.Would have no hesitation in using the Arran House Hotel in the future.
Location, calm place
had to wait for a table in the dining room
Bedbugs
Our room had bedbugs and they couldn’t give us another room, so we had to find another hotel. The staff didn’t help us in any way, they only gave us a refund.
The location is second to none. It's a 10-minute walk from London to Euston train station. You're in the mix of everything. You just catch all the double-decker buses everywhere. There are some really nice restaurants around and are super accessible if you want to come and go when you're on the move. It's in a university town, so everyone there is teenagers; they should be young, going to university. It's just a pretty good time. The staff was super friendly as well and attentive, but yeah, I just had an unfortunate incident that happened, which makes me not rate this higher than 5
Yeah, what happened was I ended up trying to close a door in the bathroom, and then I got my finger sliced on one of the locks. They helped me with some antiseptic antibacterial cream in the medical kit, which the lady ran up the street and got, which is really nice of her. It's just a very inconvenient way to end my trip, getting a sliced finger and it bleeding everywhere, but they provide advantages; it was all good. Also, when you open the door in the room, it doesn't shut because the bed is so close to the door, and that's how tiny my room was. I didn't realise how small it was, but yeah.
Good value, location, breakfast was good, staff was friendly. Easy to check in. We were able to check our luggage after checking out which was a huge help and value.
It was just fine! Nothing to report. The hotel was exactly what I expected. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable.
Large, comfortable room. Breakfast was good - simple but still reasonable options.
No lift - lots of stairs. Hard to get heavy suitcases up to our room.
Location was very near to UCLH where I had an appointment
I was on the top floor and the hot water pressure was very poor and the cold water was more of a dribble than a flow. One corner of the bathroom ceiling had mould
The hotel was located in a very good spot, and the actual room I was staying in was quite nice, having a comfy bed, wardrobe, and sink in the room, with the bathroom just across the hall.
While the front desk staff were very welcoming and friendly, I did not get this impression from the breakfast staff. They had stopped serving cooked food 40 minutes before service ended and took the cold food away 10 minutes before the end of breakfast! Felt like you were being rushed and was not very filling. I would recommend eating breakfast elsewhere.
The location is unbeatable.Close to theatres, the British Museum & Goodge Street & Tottenham Court Road tubes.
Three nights on the top floor!Sixty steps!Too much for these old bones.I didn’t ask to be moved as I thought the hotel was fully booked. My booking said last room. The night receptionists were very kind & helpful.I thought the room was a little shabby & expensive.
Booked at short notice as my wife was staying overnight at the hospital nearby. I was pleasantly surprised by my stay. My room was on the top floor and was warm and comfortable, the shared bathroom was clean, and the breakfast was much more plentiful than I was expecting. Overall, I felt that it was a bit of a bargain for a central London accommodation and was perfect for what I needed.
It’s an old building so not particularly sound proof from noisy guests in adjacent rooms.
