    • The staff was especially helpful in all aspects, answering questions, being there when we needed them, advice for taxis, restaurants, etc. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.
    • VERY cozy and nicely located little hotel. Basic but super nice! Very friendly and helpful staff..

    Cons -

    • The room and bathroom was quite small. There was no way to control the heat and it was very warm so I had to open to window to regulate the heat. You need to contact the staff to get in past 11pm which I didn¿t realize when booking. The staff was great.

Very Polite welcome from staff, stayed in a studio room with a fridge and microwave, hotel is more like a guest home than a hotel, nice garden available to read and have a snack, lovely Victorian/Edwardian decor in hallways, hotel close to Bayswater and Queensway train stations and bus 94 route which goes right into central London, bike rental stalls close by, supermarkets close by etc. Can't complain. The room was small but it totally fit my needs.I would most definitely stay again.

a short walking distance from Bayswater tube station

My room was on the top floor (4th or 5th floor.) without an elevator. Stairs were steep and narrow. It’s scary to descend the stairs carrying a heavy suitcase.

Lovely staff at the Vancouver hotel. It's good value for money and walking distance from public transport.

    The location is great

During my stay, I woke up each morning with what appeared to be insect bites. By the third morning, I realized these were bed bug bites, as I had unfortunately experienced this issue previously in the last 2 years and recognized the symptoms. When I brought this matter to the manager's attention, he dismissed my concerns and claimed he had inspected the room without finding any evidence of bed bugs. He never offered an apology for the situation or any inconvenience caused. The wooden window was not properly sealed, allowing cold drafts to enter the room. Unfortunately, the bed was positioned directly beneath this window, which exacerbated the discomfort. On the first night, the room temperature was approximately 18-19 degrees Celsius, which was particularly uncomfortable lets say given that it was winter.

I’ve stayed at the Vancouver almost every time I’ve been to London. It’s my go to. The Bayswater neighborhood is very nice, but not so posh that it’s crazy expensive, and the Vancouver is just a short walk from the Underground station. The place is excellent, the staff very accommodating. The room itself was truly extraordinary, all of little details were right. Another absolutely flawless stay. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Other than a lift, which would be expensive and hard to arrange in the building, I can’t think of anything.

Really funky little hotel, recently done up and clean and warm and comfy, a bit noisy due to the road

Fantastic location, short walking distance from two different metro stops and a neighborhood street filled with attractive eateries, coffee bars and shops. Felt safe and comfortable. Room was small but had everything - kettle for tea, clean shower, kitchenette, comfortable bed - at a GREAT price. Staff were warm and pleasant. Would absolutely stay again.

As others have pointed out, stairs and no elevator. Glad I only had my overnight backpack.

Great friendly staff. The location was excellent and easy to get around. The room had everything I needed as a solo traveler.

I loved its "whimsical" character. The inside of the building is like a fascinating chamber of curiosities! Antiques, vintage decorations, colourful rags and carpets, staffed birds, a full armor, beautiful gravures and a gallery of portraits, pictures of cute little dogs and crystal sconces, a cosy fireplace, a little back yard, old fashioned wooden blinds and many unexpected details make it a unique place for those who are looking more for character than luxury. The single room was small but more than adequate with a kichenette and an ensuite bathroom. Although nothing was really new and everything was kind of vintage shabby the place was clean and provided all the basics. Part of the experience the lack of elevator. The climbing up to the third floor was a bit tough for me as the stairs become steep to the upper floors but I appreciated the vintage chord they have put as handrail on the wall to help guests with that. The location near Bayswater station is of course an advantage.

Very nice staff. Amazing location. Good kitchenette. Pretty house. Comfortable bed.

Room wasn’t very clean. Foul smell in the middle of the night. We thought it was a gas leak and turned the heating off. When we were leaving, the woman at the reception explained the odor came from a boiler and needs to be fixed. We were placed in a room on the 4th floor. You need to go up these very steep stairs with very narrow steps, and no one helps with the luggage.

excellent central location, close to tube, shops and parks. friendly staff, clean, loved the decor, view, provided with fan, good size fridge, microwave, tv etc.

fire alarms went off twice in less than 12 hours this wasn’t a dislike for me, but be prepared for a steep climb if you’re above the second floor, especially with a heavy bag.

The decor was charming. The owners created interested displays on the various stair landings. The design of the rooms (color scheme, wallpaper et al) was lively and tasteful. The garden area was a bonus delight. And there was even a laundry area for guests. Very thoughtfully planned establishment.

Despite his prolific use of the diminutive "darling", the front desk manager apparently has an aversion to actually helping clients. When I arrived with large bags and was told my room was on the fourth floor (and no lift) I asked if there was help. He huffed and called out a man working elsewhere to help me. That's fine. What was not needed was his comment to other clients nearby "I got out of that didn't I? Ha Ha.." And they all had a good laugh. Did not make me feel especially welcome. The gentleman who did help me with my bags was lovely, though. Early on the morning of check-out I asked the desk clerk if I could again get help. He said the manager and another colleague would be on hand by the time I was ready. I asked about the other man, who had helped me previously, and the clerk again said his colleague and the manager could help; the other man would not be there. Once ready, I brought the first bag down and there was a lovely Muslim woman wearing an abaya. Despite her ready smile, I realized her robes would keep her from helping me. And there was the manager. Despite his "hello darling" greeting, his pinched look told me not to dare ask him for a hand. I trudged back up for the remaining luggage. The kind woman checked me out and I proceeded to move my bags, one at a time, out to the curb for my lift. On my second trip, there was the woman, in her robes, offering to help- instead of the perfectly healthy young "manager". He just sat there. I thanked her for her offer, refused it, and resumed moving my own things. Moral of the story: "Hello darling" is insufficient camouflage for poor service and lack of character.

I was only there for two nights on my own so the room was perfect for me. I will definitely stay again for how eady it is to get to Paddington and Heathrow. It would be nicer to stay longer to use all perks. Great value!

The room felt homey and had everything I needed. The staff were very kind and welcoming. I also enjoyed the gym and the cute garden. Great location.

There’s no lift and the room was small but definitely good value for money .
