Mermaid Suite Hotel

We stayed across the street from the main hotel, request this room for a family the space was huge, well appointed and very comfortable

the inner door did not lock. security was still very good behind 2 locked doors.

Size of the room was ample, comfortable and clean. Location near Oxford street was great, set back away from noise. Suitable for children.

We loved this hotel. An amazing location 1 minute walk off Oxford Street, the guy who greeted us was very friendly and helpful and they had free early check in so we could check in at 14:00 (we could have left our bags if the room wasn’t ready). The room was up 3 flights of stairs (no lift) and was fairly basic but clean and perfectly adequate given it was just a place to sleep for us. The price was amazing- under £140 for 4 people in central London. Our room looked out onto a quiet street and was quiet at night- it felt very safe walking back at night. We would definitely stay again.

No cell service in the room, and unstable WiFi. When I asked the host at the reception desk for help, he said “it’s complimentary, and I’m not having any WiFi issues in here, so you’ll have ti figure it out yourself.” Incredibly unhelpful.

No milk or spoon in room for tea or coffee the gentleman who booked me in was not helpful the gentleman from restaurant was lovely took my case up for me as I walk with stick stairs steep

There was no AC in the room on the very top floor; extremely hot especially during the summer. Fans were provided but very old and dusty. Bathroom towel had a large brown stain on it.

The steps of the stairs are short and since there’s not elevator is difficult with the luggage

From a location point of view this hotel is 10/10. It's right on bond street, in the centre of the shopping district, in a quiet safe side road by the station. The triple room was very spacey for 3 adults with 3 seperate beds and a sofa, nice tv and ensuite. The room was also quiet because it was on the third floor.

This hotel has no elevators. The staircases are very narrow and winding, so carrying any luggage up and down is very hard. The rooms are not cleaned during the stay either. They made up the beds 3 times in the 7 days we were there and provided new towels, but the rooms are not dusted and sweeped so dirt accumilates. They also wouldn't replenish toiletries daily so we had to keep going to reception for top ups. The beds are also not comfortable. You really just pay for the location because it's really good, everything else is not so great, however we expected this.

Everything else about this property was shocking. The room I booked was absolutely not what was shown in the pictures. The whole place is grubby, outdated, shabby and uncared . The room wasn’t ready for us at check in and when we returned at 4pm we still had no room. We were told to wait and get a drink in the cafe downstairs, then waited until 4.45 to be shown a room which I wouldn’t have put a dog in. I complained and was told there was nothing else. Standing my ground, suddenly 2 other rooms became available. Both were unsuitable in different ways, but we opted to move to double in another building. I’d booked a twin room as I was travelling with my 21 year old daughter, but we had to share a double bed, just to get a room that was a bit bigger and marginally cleaner than the first room. They keep their rubbish on the stairwells, the carpets are threadbare and obviously they don’t employ cleaners. Apart from the location, which is excellent, I wouldn’t touch this place.

It was a last minute decision whilst already in town to stay overnight. We love Il Pizzaiolo below and have been going for many years so was aware of the suites above. The location is unbeatable. We had a family room that sleeps 3 (that’s what they had left). It was very clean and comfortable, even if the decor was tired and could do with an update.For simply a bed for the night, excellent and great value for money - we’ll use it again.

As you may expect it’s more of a younger traveller vibe, but don’t let that put you off!
