Pros +
- Location, 24/7 very helpful staff, charming character, Housekeeping was great, very quiet
- Beautiful hotel, with AMAZING STAFF.
- Staff was outstanding, accommodating and very pleasant. My room was upgraded because the original booking wasn't ready when I arrived; I was given in Room 304, a bi- level accommodation, with a great bathroom/room.
Cons -
- Mattress was on the lumpy side
- Bath tub fixture dangerous as you cannot turn on or off once sitting in the tub, huge potential for a hot water burn, fixture temper mental and difficult to use. Room needs vanity mirror to assist with getting dressed/hair/make-up by electrical outlet.
- Prices of food and beverages were unreasonably expensive. Breakfast was 21.00 gbp in the breakfast room; down the street, the same food was approximately 10 and 12 gbp in highly-rated Zagat restaurants. Poor maps for guests.

Friendly staff and they kindly let us check in early for our anniversary celebration stay which was appreciated. Nice welcome tea/ prosecco on arrival and the location of the hotel is excellent, near sloane square tube in a quiet street.
Unfortunately given the price we paid the hotel was disappointing overall. Firstly, i was upset by one incident where i was getting changed for bed and a male member of staff walked in to our bedroom without even knocking first or verbally checking if anyone was in (despite all the lights being on as well) which I found highly embarrassing. Secondly, the room itself needs some TLC as it felt dated and unloved in places. Some of it the furniture was a damaged and worn, both bathroom taps only set to hot (no cold running water) and the toilet does not flush properly. Also the TV main channels do not sync up with the screen so you cannot watch a programme properly and it was very far from the bed with no sofa despite us paying extra for a deluxe with balcony room. You would accept some of these things for a low budget hotel but not at over £300 per night and we've enjoyed far better hotels for less than this so sadly we had a disappointing stay.
San Domenico House exceeded all my expectations. The hotel itself, its location, service, cleanliness, and breakfast were all outstanding — truly flawless.Although this was my first stay, it will definitely not be my last. I was so impressed that I have already made a reservation for April. My sincere thanks to Matia and all the hotel staff for making this such a wonderful experience.Looking forward to seeing you again.
Classic & Luxury Rooms, Breakfast is Great. And Staffs were very impressive especially the great man from Ukanda. ^£^
We wished to have hot tea or coffee to drink while sitting at the balconies ha ha. ^£^
The room was extraordinarily beautiful, although it was odd that it was two levels. The staff was really nice.
The plumbing and the lighting were a bit mystifying.
It's a beautiful hotel, with beautiful sitting rooms and bedrooms. The staff were fantastic, and the room cleaned spotlessly. We had a balcony which was perfect for sitting out on, enjoying a nightcap and watching the world go by. The road outside is quite busy, but not intrusive and not noisy enough to make it noticeable. The view from the roof top terrace is brilliant. It also has an honesty bar so you can enjoy a drink while you relax. The location, being close to Sloane Square, means it's perfect for cafe's, bars, restaurants, the tube and many buses. Harrods is a short walk north and the king's road and the river a short walk south. Just down the street is a fabulous bar/restaurant called 'The Chalk'. Just perfect.
To be honest, I'm struggling to find anything to complain about.
Location, ambience, staff
The check in is appalling. More attention to work spaces please
Room was lovely, staff were exceptionally helpful and breakfast was served in a pretty little breakfast room.
Croissants and coffee at breakfast
Beautiful hotel for all antique lovers. Super friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Cannot complain. We were upgraded, so thank you for that. The room was spacious and spotless with a beautiful view. Perfect location.
This old school hotel is still my favorite in London. With its unbeatable location and the courtesy of the staff, unmatched by other properties within the same category, San Domenico will not disappoint you!The culinary offering is also definitely worth a try.
Location, comfort and friendliness of the staff
Elegant property with helpful and friendly staff
The property wasn’t as described and so we felt cheated. This isn’t in any way a five star hotel. The “bar” is a small unstaffed room up three flights of stairs with a desk that has room temperature drinks on it and a small fridge underneath. It is not the “bar” one would expect when people gather for chat and casual drinks. It’s a brightly lit room with laminate flooring and a sofa, with the aforementioned desk.
The room was beautiful and large. Our welcome was warm and included a glass of bubbly. Staff were very attentive, housekeeping was excellent, and special spots like the parlor and terrace were lovely.
Nothing - we loved it all.
Very friendly/personable staff (reception & breakfast crew) 10 min walk to tube station (Sloane Square)Complementary tea in lobby Hot water with nice water pressure Clean facility Will hold luggage if you arrive prior to check in Turn down service
1. Extremely small lift (2 ppl max) that did not service our floor (room 404). We were physically able to walk the stairs every day, but this could certainly be problematic for persons with mobility issues. We did have to carry luggage down multiple flights of stairs upon check out.2. “Breakfast included” is for continental breakfast only. Bread basket, fruit bowl, yogurt, cereal, coffee or tea. No protein included. We paid 9 pounds each for a portion of eggs (poor value for our money). 3. We traveled with friends and we both booked deluxe rooms. My friend was put in room 101 which was advertised in the photos. She had a large soaking tub with plush linen and large room. We booked the same exact room and received the polar opposite. Our room (404) was much smaller, no large soaking tub (as pictured), no plush linens, and overall underwhelming. My friend was happy with her deluxe room but I was disappointed with mine as it didn’t appear at all like the pictures. 3. The fitness center advertised is off site.

Stunning building and gorgeous area. Highly recommend. Very comfortable bed. Quiet inspite of close proximity to a road.
Absolutely nothing
The location was excellentThe staff is lovely and sees to your every need
It is wise to ask about the stairs in your room. Some have the bedroom below a flight of stairs so not super easy to maneuver. It is an old house though so some quirkiness is to be expected.
We didn’t eat breakfast so can’t rate . Staff were very nice although one of the ladies had terrible body odour which lingered in our room after she’d come to show us how to use the shower - location perfect , honour bar on top floor is a great idea and the downstairs lounge was very intimate and a nice place to sit .
It was incredibly difficult to blow dry our hair as we couldn’t plug in to anywhere in bathroom . Just a few sort of lazy things like having to ask for evening turn down and a delicious chocolate which we had received on two prior nights . Knob on wardrobe came off in my hand and we found it almost impossible to use shower . For a hotel charging these prices, they need to smarten up the service and functionality a bit .
