I love the history of the place. It's a but run down, but in a movie arthouse. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

love the history, atmosphere, locale of the hotel.

restaurant needs a more diverse menu

    5Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 6-25-2023

Different, funky, somewhat eccentric, seems to have a really good restaurant. Room was clean and adequate though very basic.

Room was smallish, minimally furnished, zero decoration, mattress springy, cramped shower, a little stuffy, few outlets. Not for anyone with problems with steep stairs, or who has children. Much visible ¿deferred maintenance.¿ I¿d call it a 2 star hote

Clean, quiet, comfortable bed, nice bath, charming decor.

    elevator inconvenient

    Intriguing history

maintenance, staff lack of friendliness, unpublicised late check in time, general run down condition, sketchy electrical, lack of A/C, lack of egressible avenues

Loved staff and friendless of everyone. Wonderful place. Loved the history. Really enjoyed ourselves. Relaxing.

Wish breakfast was an option. Only serve dinner in the restaurant.

This was the coolest hotel I have ever stayed in! Got to admit tho that I made sure & had a light on when I got up during the night to make sure I did not run into a ghost! Lol

It could use some updating but the bed was comfortable & all was clean so I would definitely recommend it!

Front desk lady was welcoming and nice and made us feel at home. The bed was SUPER comfortable and i felt safe here.

The outside doesnt look like the advertised picture. The inside of the hotel is the best part.

    The historical charm.

No hot water. No services. No ventilation, or ability to cool room. We stayed mid-November and had to keep the one, small window we could open, open the entire time we were there. This place is overrated, over-priced and in disrepair.

    3KrisPosted on: 7-20-2018

Loved the millwork and the history of the building.

The front staff was never there, the bed was not made, Staff just left replacement towels on bed and the entire castle had a fence that you could only pass through at the front. In turn you had to walk around the entire hotel just to cross the street.

    10CarolinePosted on: 3-19-2018

The Staff was awesome. The history of the building was very interesting. The beds were comfortable. It is a very unique little town with lots of Excellent restaurants. It was a birthday trip and I loved it all!!

This hotel has a lot of character and charm. That is its primary feature.

It's clear this hotel has seen better days. Mostly the décor is tired nothing the public spaces and in the rooms. Additionally the bar & restaurant are closed. For the price paid I would have expected a higher level of quality.

    7ViolaPosted on: 8-11-2017

Interesting old hotel.More character than regular tourist motels.

Elevator didn't work and we dragged our luggage up three flights of steps.

    1Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 2-26-2017

Nice view of the water and good reception on the large flat-screen TV. Older pieces of furniture add to the "feel" of the place.

Stayed here for our anniversary and given the smallest room we've ever stayed in. Terrible! Bed was not good at all. Wall coverings were coming unglued. Old musty smell would not go away, even with window open. My wife was very disappointed. Never again.

    It was close to Town

They need to make it clear in advertisements that the rooms have NO AIR CONDITIONING
