Top Tips
- Book your accommodation 90-180 days in advance for Lake Harmony’s peak summer (June-August) and winter holidays, as rates increase by 20-50% and options fill rapidly around July 4 and Presidents’ Day weekends. Compare rates across national chains and local stays for the best availability.
- Many Lake Harmony rentals are condo-style; before booking, confirm if cleaning fees (typically $15 to $150), refundable damage deposits, and linens are included. Ask about amenity access, for example, pools or fitness centers, if reserving via a branded hotel versus a private condo.
- Amenities such as parking, pools, or shuttle service to Jack Frost/Big Boulder ski resorts can vary by property. Call your hotel directly to confirm the number of parking spaces per room, seasonal pool hours, and shuttle availability, as shuttles may only run weekends or on demand.
- Pennsylvania lodging tax is about 6%, plus local occupancy fees added at booking or check-in. Resort charges or amenity fees (often $15 to $35 per night) may apply at larger properties; review final pricing before confirming your reservation.
- For check-in, bring your photo ID and the card used for booking. Hotels often place a temporary hold ($15 to $200) for incidentals; confirm the amount and when it’s released.
- Lake Harmony is car-dependent with limited public or rideshare transport. Reserve parking in advance if offered, especially at resorts. For winter, equip your car with snow tires and check I-80 and Route 940 conditions, as delays of 30-60 minutes are common during storms.
- Bring seasonal gear: insect repellent and water shoes for June-September lake activities, insulated layers for October-April, and boots with ice grips if snow is forecast. Ask your hotel about on-site gear rentals or local shops for last-minute needs.
- Condo rentals and resort hotels enforce common rules: quiet hours start around 10 PM, trash must be disposed of in designated bins, and indoor smoking is banned with fines of $15 to $250 or more. Ask staff for a written list of house rules at check-in.
- Dining options in Lake Harmony are limited, especially outside weekends and peak season. Secure advance dinner reservations at local favorites like Nick’s Lake House and stock up on groceries for in-room meals, as local stores close early on holidays.
- Wi-Fi speed and cell service can be inconsistent in Lake Harmony, particularly in wooded or rural rentals. Verify high-speed internet and cell signal at your chosen property and request a room near the lobby or business center if you’ll work remotely.
- Check with hotel staff for seasonal packages, as some properties offer discounts on boat rentals ($40-$60 per hour), guided fishing (PA license required), or ticket bundles to Pocono attractions. Always ask about current offers at check-in.
- Choose properties with flexible cancellation (free up to 24-48 hours before arrival), as Lake Harmony weather can change quickly, with summer storms or 20+ cm (8+ in) snowfalls in winter. Always check local forecasts before traveling.
- Tipping is standard: budget 15-20% for restaurants, $15 to $5 per night for housekeeping, and $15 to $2 per bag for bellhops. Ask at the front desk if unsure about gratuity norms for spa or shuttle services.
- If traveling with a pet, confirm the exact pet policy, permitted room types, and applicable nightly fees, as these can range from $15 to $75 per pet. Inform the hotel in advance and check if walking areas or pet-sitting services are available.
