The building, lobby, and the rooms (deluxe) were all very clean and charming. The cafe downstairs was a real value — great breakfast spot. We pastries as well as baguettes and sourdough bread we bought were all fresh and tasty. Pleasant and responsive staff.
Nothing really in particular.

Location good, access to the subway system and nearby restraurants.
Room lacked a mini-fridge or coffee machine. There was only one chair, and doing stretches on the bare floor was not optimal.

The staff was helpful and polite
It was not the way I expected from the pictures in booking. It was far from the center and the breakfast was very poor. Actually you get a voucher from a bakery near the hotel.

Beautiful hotel, nicely renovated. So close to Central Park and many places of interest, like museums and show venues. Room was quiet, spacious and very well equipped. Staff were helpful.
Breakfast options. Need more than pastries, although voucher could be used for cold and hot drinks too.

Very nice hotel in an incredible location. Great for a city trip.
No in-house breakfast meant that we sometimes could not get seated in the next door cafe. With a toddler that wasn't ideal. Also, our room (i.e. bin) was only cleaned upon request (3 night stay), which traveling with said toddler wasn't sufficient.

This is the second time I've stayed at the Bellaclaire. Everything was excellent. Our trip centered around four shows at the Beacon Theater, so the location was extraordinarily convenient. We also had a few appointments in the West Village and downtown, so the 79th street subway access was perfect. The entire Bellaclaire staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. Our room was spotless and, while not 100% soundproof, buffered any Broadway street noise for peaceful, uninterrupted sleep. And the daily vouchers for the adjacent bakery were a splendid bonus!
The only thing slightly frustrating was the continuous elevator issue. Since it's an old building, oftentimes one or two of the elevators were inoperative. That said, they usually had it repaired same day so it didn't impact the overall terrific experience.

The common areas like the lobby and the bar were very nice. the room was very clean.
I didn’t like the fact that there are no coffee makers in the room.; That people had to go downstairs to get coffee in the morning. I understand why the rooms are bare bones. It’s a good way to keep the cost down. But with the bare bones, the rooms were also lacking charm and attractiveness.

Loved the whole feel of the hotel - staff were exceptional especially Dominic - loved the breakfast bakery & happy hour on offer . Location very convenient as it’s near a subway stop which takes you to all the main attractions
I can’t fault it with anything

The location is pretty great for someone who wants to see a lot of Manhattan related to the museums, performing arts, and Central Park. It's easy to get the to the subway with a 8 min walk. They offer vouchers to use in the bar and the French cafe for breakfast which is a great value. They offered to connect us with a taxi for a ride to the airport as well. Considering the neighborhood, it's very quiet at night. Staff is very nice and highly recommend the free prosecco hour and charcuterie at the hotel bar.
I feel that for a 4 star hotel, there was more to desired with regards to drawers or storage in the room. My girlfriend and I had to live out of our luggage and have clothes either piled up in a corner or put away. I suppose it's due to the rooms being pretty small (hallways and elevator are also narrow). It would have been great to have a small dresser for any type of organization. It's not a dealbreaker considering we were out and about all day, but in the middle of the night to use the restroom, navigating the room in darkness can be a challenge. We also did not have body wash in our shower and needed to request that which we didn't get for a couple of days.
