Desert Sand Resort

The rooms were large and comfortable. Everything was exceptionally clean. The staff were very helpful. Could not beat the location between Avalon and Stone Harbor. The weather was nice enough for the kids to jump in the pool. Would definitely stay again.

The front desk employee called before my arrival to check on my timing to make sure the room was ready. We arrived a bit early so this guaranteed that our room was prepped for us. The location and layout of the hotel is perfect for the area it is in.

This was the cleanest motel or even hotel I'have ever stayed! And it did not even smell of Cleaning agents. I especially liked the bedroom was an entire separate room from the kitchen and living room. Just a great experience!

Great location for Avalon. Quiet room. AC worked well. Staff was approachable and helpful.

The rooms are condos. Our room was very plain and was stocked different than the room our friends stayed in. No dishwasher. Limited supplies for us to eat in the room.

Staff was not very friendly or all that helpful. We asked for an early check-in, as we were driving from out of state for a wedding that started at 4 pm. We understood early check-in could not be guaranteed, but the front desk told us they would text us as soon as our room was ready. They did not. When we arrived, someone else said the room was ready, which was great but we wasted time driving around when we could have got into the room if they texted or called when it was actually ready. Also 10 am checkout time seemed to be an outlier in the area - friends staying at various other hotels in the area had a later (11 am) checkout. Here, the staff knocked on the door at 9:30 to remind us we needed to be out by 10.

We loved the layout! The table was big enough for playing games- a rarity in a motel. The couch was comfortable enough that we watched a movie. Jessica was amazing. She answered our questions quickly and was super kind.

Nice room, comfy beds, full size fridge. The location was just across the street from the beach. There was a nice deck and pool. The guy at the desk was helpful and kind.

Price was good considering it was off-season in a town like Avalon. Location was great. Close to the beach. And fairly close walking distance to food and shopping.

Bedroom was cold due to air conditioner cranked up. Silly me I forgot to adjust the thermostat.

Staff s amazing!! Location is unbeatable. Room is spacious enough!

Only 2 beach tags per room even when 3-5 people are staying.

I highly recommend the Desert Sands.An absolutely beautiful place in a stunning location.My stay was perfect from start to finish. Lovely spacious unit with great facilities.Right next to the most amazing beach.I went to recharge my batteries and left floating from relaxation.Thank you so much to everyone on the crew who made my stay so memorable.I will be back next year.Niall Cullen

Room was well equipped, clean, and in a great location!

It was the hardest matress I have ever felt in my life. The only chair in the room was equally as hard. I did not get a good night sleep for the three nights. I woke up with a backache. And to sit and watch the tv was uncomfortable because the chair was SO HARD. It was not a comfortable stay at all. The whole point of going away is to relax and be comfortable. This was such a waste of money.

It was the most uncomfortable three nights I have ever had. The bed was hard as a rock, and the only chair in the room was the same. Wasted my money.

The outdoor pool. Did not like the lack of shade or umbrellas at the pool area.

No shade at pool. No privacy with a room literally 3’ from the pool. Everyone could see into my room as they sat at the pool. Bedding was torn, literally had a hole in it and cheep. Lack of a coffee table and cheep sofa. TV didn’t work. No bottle opener. The bedroom window overlooked an alley. No privacy if I wanted any natural light in the room. The noise when sitting in the living room was terrible. Kids screaming at the pool or the toilet flushing above. The location was a mile from Stone Harbor which was a long walk in the heat. Too far to spend time in or dine in Avalon town area. Very disappointing. Had to get in the car every time I wasn’t food or coffee or entertainment. The beach tag pin did not stay closed resulting in my beach tag being lost. Staff recommended restaurants lacked any coffee or breakfast spots, no night entertainment or bars for a drink. Price was crazy for 3 nights. Boring. Little information provided for activities.
