The pool was very nice. The patio area was enjoyable.
I've stayed here before so that's why I chose to stay again. The staff is friendly. The pool is clean just like the rest of the building. Breakfast is pretty good. They have scrambled eggs, sausage links, potatoes, waffles, pancakes and a few other things
Room was clean and bed was super comfortable.

Free parking. Gorgeous views. Wonderful front porch but they need to bring back the beautiful and comfortable wicker furniture. Also assign staff to take drink orders on the porch and bellboys to meet cars arriving and dropping off luggage.
A traditional turn of the 20th century vibe with a rich history helped enhance the relaxing surroundings. An unparalleled mountain range view. Great service with friendly personnel. Sadly, it appears renovations will strip much of the N.E. historic value.
This is a beautiful hotel with amazing amenities, including a spa, indoor and outdoor pool, gym, game room, movie theater, and farm with animals. There are multiple dining options on-site, including a tavern, fine dining, room service, and a bar.

The hotel is in a nice location for all the major attractions in the area, and for a summer visit would probably be a much more enjoyable destination.

It was great to wake up and have breakfast available without leaving the hotel.
Very clean and quiet.
We loved the indoor swimming pool. It¿s located right off the highway but far enough away that you can¿t hear the traffic. Staff was amazing and answered all of our questions and also gave us a card for discounts to local businesses.

Had a fully enclosed front, for all the rooms and office. This was very nice. Brought the breakfast to the tables in here, since very limited seating in breakfast area. Parking was ample and safe. Hotel was near Kancamagus trail.
The only thing ?good? about this hotel was the location.

You can¿t beat the location of this hotel. It is absolutely stunning. At the base of the highest peak in the northeastern United States, I would come back for the wrap around porch alone.

This is the first pet friendly room I've had that didn't stink!
Staff were very friendly & accommodating, grounds were over the top for this level hotel, pool and public areas extremely clean and tidy. Breakfast service far above other competitors, mainly due to staff keeping clean and organized during busy weekend!
Exceeded expectations in every area! Location, superb staff, breakfast buffet, pool, whirlpool spa, dry sauna, arcade, spacious room and very clean!

I couldn¿t sleep as the room didn¿t have curtains. I was up at 4 am. It was an awful experience.
We had an unexpected "Pass" for the area that included activities for the family (Waterville Valley pools access, trolley transportation, chair lift, bike rental for 2 hours, kayaking in the pond...)

Top Tips
- Expect a 9% Rooms & Meals tax added automatically to all lodging charges throughout New Hampshire; there is no state sales tax. For example, a $100 nightly room rate totals $109 before any resort or amenity fees. Verify the final bill breakdown before check-out.
- Advance purchase is strongly advised for Flume Gorge and Cannon Mountain tram tickets, especially from May to October and during U.S. holiday weekends. Timed entry at Flume Gorge can sell out days ahead on peak weekends, limiting on-site ticket availability.
- For peak periods such as late September through mid-October (foliage season) and winter school holidays, secure hotel bookings 4-12 weeks in advance. Many boutique inns and B&Bs require 2-3 night minimums and may increase nightly rates due to limited inventory.
- Most top attractions are within a 2-5 mile (5-12 minute) drive from Franconia village, including Cannon Mountain and Flume Gorge. To maximize time at high-traffic sites, prioritize parking or schedule a morning drop-off if planning a pre-dawn trailhead or early tram ride.
- Not all historic hotels or lodges in the White Mountains offer central air conditioning, and many rely on window units or fans. Confirm AC availability on your specific room type during booking, especially for summer visits or if traveling with seniors or small children.
- During winter, monitor NH DOT/511 for road updates, as snow and plow operations commonly add 30-60 minutes on I-93 or approaching Franconia Notch. Prepare for possible chain or traction device requirements during heavy snow and adjust airport transfer windows accordingly.
- Confirm your hotel’s on-site parking and shuttle options for state park access. Main lots at Flume Gorge and Cannon Mountain fill by midday on weekends; some hotels offer scheduled drop-off services or recommend alternate lots to reduce shuttle wait times of 10-30 minutes.
