Friendly staff. At breakfast one morning one of the investors even stopped by to find out how we liked the hotel. Of course we didn't know he was an investor until we had had a friendly conversation and I asked him who he was. I assumed he was manager.

Top Tips
- Book 3-6 weeks in advance if visiting for Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) commencement in late May or the fall semester start in late August. Hotels near campus often reach full occupancy mid-week and on weekends during these events, so confirm event dates before booking to secure your preferred accommodation.
- Expect an 85-95 mile drive (about 1.5-1.75 hours) to Sioux Falls Regional Airport (FSD) for scheduled commercial flights, as Marshall Regional (KMML) mainly serves general aviation and does not offer commercial airline service. Arrange ground transportation early, since on-demand options may be limited in the area.
- For Monday-Thursday stays, reserve your room 7-14 days ahead. Weekday demand is high due to travelers from major local employers like Schwan’s, so confirm flexible cancellation policies if your dates might change.
- Travel from March to November for safer driving, as November to March brings frequent subfreezing temperatures and snow or ice. Check Minnesota DOT road alerts and confirm hotel parking is plowed if arriving late during winter, and consider properties with indoor corridors for more comfort in cold months.
- If bringing a large work vehicle, RV, or trailer, call the hotel directly to verify the availability of dedicated or overflow parking. Most hotels in Marshall have surface lots for cars and small trucks, but oversized parking is limited, so arrive early to secure a suitable spot.
- Marshall’s tap water meets Minnesota EPA standards and is safe to drink in hotels. If you have allergies or require filtered water, request bottled water or a filtered room before arrival for added peace of mind.
- If you need a reliable internet connection for video calls or remote work, ask the hotel for recent upload and download speed estimates, or book a business-class room with a wired connection. Free Wi-Fi quality varies by property and time of day.
