Ocean Surf at York Beach

The price was reasonable and the pool area is great.

We were a bit disappointed that the pool bar and the restaurant were not available. Our TV did not work for the entirity of our stay.

It was nothing like advertised on their website, no restaurant, no pool bar, no fire pits, no kids activities. Rooms were never cleaned during our stay nor were towels replaced or available. Will not be returning

The location is amazing and staff was very good.

The TV system is near impossible to understand. Even the owner could not help us. Very disappointing. Check in time is later than 3.

Good location, very wonderful staff, nice little restaurant.

The rooms are too spartan, there is effectively no furniture and few amenities available (toilet paper etc.). It is a Beach town of course, and this is more akin to a motel than a hotel, but as Canadians paying US$---/night we hoped for more comfort.

We enjoyed the pool area and appreciated the concept / vintage surf vibe.

Falsely advertised / photos show architectural design plans or entirely different hotel. Rooms poorly designed / tiny, walls scuffed badly, tv mounted directly over bed and difficult to connect to. Beach across the street all rocks. No free coffee.

3 flights of stairs. No cable tv. Could not lock sliding door to balcony (very easy to get to next rooms) Coffee should be free.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was cozy and the view was great.

The maids could've paid a little more attention to detail when it came to the space under the ac units. They were otherwise very nice.

The location of the hotel was amazing, right across the street from long shore beach. The staff was also really kind and accommodating. They gave us an extra two hours on Sunday for late check out which was really appreciated. Also very pet friendly!

My expectations were low given the star rating and some of the reviews however I was pleasantly surprised. It is an older motel and I brought my own blankets but it was clean which was all I cared about.

The room is clean and bright. The bed was comfortable and sheets were crisp and white. The pool was heated and clean. The view of the ocean from our balcony was partially blocked but you could still see the waves. The staff was friendly and helpful.

A few more towels in the bathroom and more towels available by the pool.

Easy to clean surfaces and good layout of the room. Nice pool area.

Ocean view was only with the front door open if you crane your neck a certain way. WiFi worked for the last hour of our stay only. Tv never connected to channels, weather. Roku allegedly available but perhaps the last visitor took it home with them. Discussed tech problems with staff four times and they were ineffectual. Dogs were welcome in certain rooms but maintenance— dog waste station and refilling of waste bags never happened. Staff had no knowledge of local rules regarding dogs on beaches— limited hours only. Onsite coffee bar was overpriced and espresso drinks were subpar.

We found parking easily to check into our room. The room was clean, updated, and well lit. The bed was comfortable. Our first floor room had a private balcony. We brought sound machine so the noise from other rooms/outside late night or early morning did not bother us.

They gave another customer my room with the same first name different last name so it was a whole mess when we arrived.

Location

Our room was disgusting upon arrival. We had to request a broom and used Clorox wipes to clean the floors. Hair in the nightstand, door was filthy, there was nowhere to sit in the room.

Location was amazing. The room was very clean.

The bed ended up breaking during my stay, and when I went to the front desk to tell them and ask what we could do they said “this happens sometimes” and “there’s nothing we can do tonight to fix it.” So I had to sleep on a broken mattress. It was slanted at a 45° angle.
