    Pros +

    • The overall feel of the hotel was very welcoming and updated. There were fresh pastries out in the morning and snacks in the 2 kitchen areas. The concierge was very responsive leading up to the trip.
    • Staff was so helpful and the hotel was gorgeous.
    • This hotel is so posh and beautiful!! The staff are AMAZING!!! We loved this hotel!!!

    Cons -

    • The room was much smaller than we were expecting for the price paid. Also we were told there was a private balcony but not that you had to walk up a staggered ladder to get to it.
    • No. Historical integrity intact, so no elevator.
    • Nothing, I loved the entire stay. If I’m being petty, after walking all day an elevator would have been nice! But I also loved that there is not one, it keeps the property quiet.

    Great hotel, staff, and location!

The location is perfect. It is a beautiful combination of bed and breakfast with luxury hotel. Soaking tub, separate shower, heated bathroom floor, gas fireplace in my room. There is coffee and tea out at all times, breakfast, snacks, and chocolate chip cookies at night. And selfishly, I like that the hotel is secure, so people that are not staying there cannot wander in and out.

Nothing, I loved the entire stay. If I’m being petty, after walking all day an elevator would have been nice! But I also loved that there is not one, it keeps the property quiet.

beautiful and well-appointed lovely touches like snacks and coffee/tearefrigerated overnight oats and breakfast

just inform patrons of the no elevator situation

Gorgeous inn-like hotel with great hospitality, snacks, and ideal location. Parking is a great bonus.

Historic. It gives you the experience of visiting a hotel or home in the 1700 woth modern conveniences.

A made to order breakfast would be nice versus frittata on first floor. No elevator so a hike to get fresh frittata but coffee available on third floor.

They restored this home to is original glory and we loved looking at all the architecture. It has a very nice main room that has two fireplaces and a perfect spot to have your tea or drink and play cards. Beautiful decor. They always had food to eat and drinks in the small kitchen, fresh baked goods every day with quiche in the morning. They staff was very helpful with suggestions for dinner, lunch and exploring. I would definitely recommend the place.

It was a little tricky getting to your parking spot! I would recommend a little better lighting in the bathrooms.

Beautiful historical house that has been renovated. Very stylish and lovely.

Parking was not on site but just a short walk

The room was large and very clean. The hotel is lovely and conveniently located!

We had to leave before 9am, and breakfast wasn't ready until 9am. It's the first time we've seen this in a hotel, and we were really disappointed. Also, there was an icy draught coming in at night and we were on top of the boiler (located outside) - we could hear a thud all night long echoing through the room.

Perfect central location. The complimentary breakfast, snacks, and beverages were plentiful with high quality options.

    9ElisaPosted on: 9-30-2024

Friendly and helpful staff that checked in via text throughout our stay. Delicious fresh scones in the morning and cookies in the afternoon. They have snacks available 24/7 and morning oats and parfaits. Decorated really quaint and a nice quiet hotel in the heart of everything!

I would recommend adding juice to the fridge staples for guests and having fresh baked goods delivered to the 2nd floor concession area every morning and afternoon as well. Also, the tv placement in our room was awkward for watching.

Great vibe perfect location super clean

Breakfast could use improvement. Having actual coffee in lieu of nespresso pucks

    10BilliePosted on: 9-2-2024

I loved how it was central to a lot of the local shops and activities and it was beautiful with all the historic features still in place need though it up dated with modern amenities

I loved it all, only having stairs and no elevator would be a down fall if people wanted to stay on upper levels however this was not a concern for us.

    Comfortable & CleanDelicious cookies

Wish there was bottled water in the fridge.

The room was big and comfortable and the staff very welcoming and helpful. It was also ideally located, we had an amazing time at the Merchant !

    10BernadettePosted on: 7-20-2024

The locations is perfect for walking and exploring Salem without needing to touch your car. It was charming, and very clean with a comfortable bed and a beautiful balcony to enjoy in the early morning and evenings. There were many lovely, welcoming touches, like the many options for coffee and tea and nibbles in the kitchen downstairs. We highly recommend and would definitely return!

The bathroom lighting in room 5 was too dim. It’s nice to have a dimming option but also nice to have bright light in a bathroom.
