    Pros +

    • The location is ideal. Loved the soaking tub, & bath products. Valet was very responsive. The hotel lobby decor was very nice & comfortable to lounge in. The complimentary beverage stations were refreshing after a day of walking & enjoying downtown.
    • Location, good quality, interesting building and room design.
    • The antique or colonial style and the staff were great(friendly).

    Cons -

    • Check in staff was rude until manager intervened and helped. Hotel smells like curry (so odd). Definitely cannot explain the amenity charge. We didn’t even get wash clothes never mind an amenities 😂.
    • There was a hidden fee at check out. I was never told about an amenity fee at check in and missed my opportunity to enjoy those amenities during my stay.
    • My room was dusty. There was lots of dust on the exposed pipes. Several spider webs and spiders in the bedroom and bathroom.

Location, good quality, interesting building and room design.

They could not find our reservation at check-in. Hotel bar added 18% service charge on our bill, which was not intended to supplant a tip for our server. So, 18% on a hotel food service tab, then adding DC tax to that amount is 20% upcharge pre tip?

The antique or colonial style and the staff were great(friendly).

The timing of my stay was not great since the hotel is under renovation. We could access the roof, it could be the time we did but we tried once.

The concierge/front door staff member, Mohamed was very friendly.

Everything else was terrible. The room smelled like it had black mold. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THIS! We are not the first to complain about this. We all got sick after our stay and I know it had to be associated with the mildew we had to inhale.

    10Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 8-15-2022

The location is great if you are trying to see some museums or classic DC landmarks--about a 10 minute walk or less from everything.

Location is amazing, and the lobby staff are really nice

The queen-size bed is actually a full-size bed, and we both woke up with backaches. The rooms are not as nice as they should be for the price, and the windows do't open for fresh air.

Location to the Capitol Arena (Verizon Center)

The smell, the room had a mildew smell which made the stay not so pleasant.

    6AnaPosted on: 10-19-2021

    Very friendly and welcoming staff.

Expected a lot more from a 4-star hotel. Experience almost on par with other 2-star hotels I've visited and have definitely had better experience at all of the 3-star hotels I've been to compared to this hotel.

    The staff is super sweet

I spent a lot of money for the Mediterranean suite and I have to say it was entirely underwhelming. The room had a horrible mildew smell and the sheets were still damp. The room wasn¿t really that clean either. Not worth that price at all.

Totally Amazing Experience. The staff was so friendly and acomodating. The room was very clean and everything was just perfect. When we were leaving they even asked if we needed them to store our bags so we can do stuff in the area before driving back

The location, the cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff

I liked the historical detail in the building structure with modern decor.

I did not like the fact that I was charged an additional fee for wifi and night cap. I thought wifi was included and I do not drink.

    Location near Portrait Gallery

Room in a basement.Musty smell. 2:30 am fire alarm, no explanation no answer whn we called or went to inquire. Door pushed in every time someone in corridor opened/closed a door; could not rest. No compensation for alarmed awakening, but given late chkout

    5Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 7-18-2019

It was reasonably priced and served the purpose.

The hotel is situated right on top of a highway and there is constant noise from traffic. The hotel and rooms are dated, although generally clean. The breakfast was acceptable, but tasted like frozen food reheated.

    10Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 6-19-2019

The staff was awesome and very helpful. Accommodated us with very early check in and answering questions Beautiful old hotel with character

    10TomPosted on: 6-17-2019

Hotel is in a great location for restaurants and walking to the main attractions on the Mall.

Bathrooms have pocket doors rather than real doors.

    10BrianPosted on: 12-18-2018

    Staff were amazing and accommodating

My room got mixed up - bed and space was small.

    6Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 10-10-2018

The beauty, the proximity to the Capitals stadium.

For the price of one night, things like shampoo, soap, and conditioner, and other "amenities" should be GIVEN to the customer, not have the customer made to feel a service charge for forgotten needs and use items that are of a pump pre used nature.
