I didn?t like anything on this visit. The hotel had no power was still checking people in with no generators no lights in the hallways. It was a real hazard not even sure it?s legal to check people in without emergency lights in the hallways.
Helpful friendly staff!
Letting us check in an hour early

Not enough room for all the did not like: 1 waffle iron to feed over 12 construction workers in the breakfast area each morning. Cigarettes all over the outdoor area, the FOX channels had no sound. They agreed to check it out- they never did.

Cleanliness
My recent experiences at hotels have been below par to say the least and my rating reflects just that. With that being said I didn?t have a bad experience at this particular hotel but I do believe I was disrespected and that isn?t ok

Top Tips
- Book hotels in Clemson 6 to 8 weeks ahead of home football games to avoid 60-90% rate increases, with the highest surges during Georgia or South Carolina matchups. Confirm event weekends early to secure consistent pricing.
- Hotels on SC-13 or Montville Road offer rates that are 15-20% lower ($129-$159 per night) than those within 1 mile of Clemson University. Compare maps to locate these properties for better value.
- During 'Family Weekend' in October and 'Senior Send-Off' in mid-November, campus-area hotels typically raise prices by 50-70%. Check event calendars and consider booking outside these dates for more affordable options.
- Request a room facing away from Bowman Field to reduce nighttime noise to below 35 dB, minimizing sound by up to 30 dB compared to field-facing rooms. Ask about quiet room options on arrival.
- Access on-campus Clemson_Guest Wi-Fi at visitor centers, which offers upload speeds of 85 Mbps or higher, helpful for video calls or remote work. Ask for guest Wi-Fi details at check-in if speeds are critical.
- Some resort-style hotels provide complimentary Amtrak pickups within a 5-mile radius, though this may not appear on all booking sites. Call the hotel to confirm shuttle availability and hours before arrival.
- Declining Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) at the hotel front desk when using an international card avoids a 3-5% extra charge. DCC is a service where your card is charged in your home currency rather than USD, usually at a weaker exchange rate.
- Choose properties with ENERGY STAR or Green Key certifications for drought-adapted water use; these hotels typically reduce outdoor water consumption by 35%. Look for certification logos during booking.
- Bring a refillable water bottle; Clemson’s municipal water has a pH between 8.0-8.4, which some travelers note has a mildly soapy taste. Most hotels provide filtered water stations in public areas.
- Tip housekeeping $2-$5 per night at 4-star properties, reflecting local expectations for hotel staff. Leave cash daily with a thank-you note for clarity.
- Limited-service hotels in Clemson may close their front desks after 9:00 PM (three locations affected), causing possible check-in delays. Plan to arrive earlier or confirm front desk hours on the hotel's website if arriving late.
- Stack AAA or CAA discounts with corporate codes at Hilton brands like Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn for an extra 10-15% off. This often requires calling the hotel directly to confirm eligible stacking.
