The office was closed when we arrived. I called the # on my reservation and spoke with the owner of the hotel. She had an accident and was not able to come to the office and did not have another employee to assist. We had to find a room at another hotel,

The best thing about this hotel, was the location. We were able to walk through Helen without getting in our car and driving. The only time we needed the car was when we drove to the zoo.
Location, staff very friendly
It was in a great quiet location, but in walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The river behind the hotel was a big plus. It was so relaxing and comfortable being there. Our room was clean and spacious. Would definitely stay again.

They had a vacancy.
The location is great; a short drive to town and the hotel is perched up on a hill to provide views of the foothills from the backside. The owner and his wife are very nice and hospitable.
I liked nothing, the hotel staff was rude and the room was filthy. I would give this hotel a negative number for a rating if that was an option.

Top Tips
- Reserve Cleveland-area hotels 4-8 weeks ahead during Helen’s peak periods, such as Oktoberfest or spring and summer foliage weekends, to secure availability and save up to $15 per night versus last-minute rates. Hotels here often fill with Helen overflow, so compare options early, especially if you prefer national brands.
- Use Cleveland as a budget-friendly base; most branded hotels are a 12-20 minute drive from Unicoi State Park and downtown Helen. Before booking, compare nightly rates and amenities, such as free breakfast or pool access, with those in Helen to find the best value.
- When reserving rooms at smaller inns, request accessible or ground-floor units in advance if you need step-free access. Many properties are historic and may only offer stairs, so confirm elevator or ramp availability before arrival.
- Arrivals after 21:00 often coincide with closed local restaurants, especially off-season. Before you check in, confirm your hotel’s late-arrival policy and pack basic snacks and water for the first night if needed.
- Most Cleveland hotels include complimentary on-site parking. If traveling with a boat, ATV, or RV, verify parking clearance and any additional fees with hotel staff ahead of arrival, as some lots have limited space or restrictions.
- Cell coverage can be intermittent in the White County mountains and along routes to Unicoi or Anna Ruby Falls. Download offline maps or GPS directions before you set out and check with your hotel’s front desk for the latest local advisories.
